A house next to mine burned down. The property owner had one individual rebuild the house by himself. Seriously. He had his daughter hold some frames and a few pieces and someone pour foundation (who had a heart attack) but the rest of the house except for electrical he did by himself. It was crazy.
I’m going to do kind of same thing too but removing the middle one pillar while installing the frame is making me nervous. How long was it between removing the the pillar and installing the from ?
About a day. I would recommend removing a load bearing post... in this case, only the corner post was supporting anything due to the direction of the truss, and it wasn't supporting much because the beam along the short wall was cantilevered about 6 to 8 feet into the wall and thus supported by the sheathing (I still kept the corner post as best as possible just to be safer).
Hi. I had a few people helping, my brother, sister and my Dad. They helped maybe 20% of the time. The whole project took 6 weeks including the interior remodel (768 sq ft) with Kitchen install. I did hire a sub-contractor to do the drywall hanging, tape and texture, which took a professional crew 3 days.
It is really difficult to provide an answer that might help you, but the porch conversion when I consider siding, flooring and insulation probably cost me in the $2500 range. The entire room renovation (see next video in the series), I estimate to have cost me $10,000 to $12,500, which included a kitchen, new insulation and new flooring.
@@buildingwithbrian it is helpful as I'm only looking to do a porch conversion but I have brick that needs to be torn down. I will watch the next video thank you
All by himself. What a industrious man!

Thank you Brain, You made this look easy, very helpful.
I wish I could do things like this myself.
Great idea.
You make it look very easy! Would it be a similar process converting an already screened in porch to an actual room?
I would imagine so. There will be a lot of variances, including moisture barrier, insulation, structure and HVAC to consider.
No underlying sheathing under the clapboard is needed in your area?
Balls of steel to have the entire structure resting on a 2x6 😂😂😂
The post was a 4x4 and was what was there before I arrived.
Is it just me or is the support post crooked?

Can I get a supplies list ?
It's hard to put together a list because that list will vary based on your location and your specific project. Sorry I'm not more help.
What kind of foundation was under this porch?
Pier and beam.
Hello did you have your ac ran through to this porch ?
Checkout the next video in the series and you'll see where I remove the interior walls making the old porch part of the living space, sharing the AC.
Did you put a water barrier between the deck frame and plywood?
No, it is not required or recommended for my climate.
How long did this take you? I know people helped you with siding, but did you do the majority of it yourself?

How much did it cost to do the addition?

Ok, it looks ?
I'm not sure what your question is. Obviously isn't finished in this video, lots of small stuff happened later off camera
you put your corner on backwards bro
Which corner?
