This is the best teacher as I have looked so many videos. You started from the scratch and showed us the materials bags and how to mix it all. Others just show you already mixed plaster missing out the basics. Thank you teacher and think everyone should subscribe to this teacher.
Great video. Nice and clear instructions for those of us who wouldn't know what to do. Really liked the golden rules as important things to keep in mind. I'm looking forward to seeing further videos in this series up to when I finally give it a go myself.
Great tutorial for a mix. Prefer to see the peaks as you clearly explained instead of sticking rigidly to using British Gypsum standard 11.5 ltrs of water to a bag, which for an amateur like me I find makes it too stiff. Please be very careful using the bucket trowel to remove lumps near a rotating whisk though! Look forward to seeing more videos.
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I've been using a bucket trowel near the whisk for a while. I should have warned about that as it can be dangerous
How is 25kg bag to 11.5l of water a ratio of 1:1? I'm seriously asking because my 5kg bag says 5kg to 2.5 liters which I did and it was way too much powder even adding it slowly
Ryan seeley iv been of the tools for years and was going to artex a 2&half square metres can you tell me if 2-3kg of plaster and 3 L of water will be enough for the job
So I've always just used pretty low cost ones, that you can get at Screwfix, around the £100 mark. But I've recently just purchased a DeWalt cordless mixer and it's incredible. Incredibly expensive to but definitely the best mixer I've ever used. I'd say it's personal preference but the cheap ones take around 10 mins to mix where as the new DeWalt one is done in around 2 to 3 mins. That said Is happily use a cheap one again if I had to. Just avoid using a whisk attachment for a standard drill.
Hi, if it's just for the odd wall I'm sure a whisk attachment would be fine. It's just the plaster mixing can burn drills out as it can take 5-10 mins of non-stop mixing. Hope that helps,👍
Do you completely wash out the bucket between the first and second coat? Its so time consuming and by the time i get to putting on the second coat the first is really setting
Hi don’t know if I vacant get some advice off anyone. I’m new to plastering I laid on my first coat of multi finish on a large ceiling. The second coat set to quickly and I could only cover a third of the ceiling as it was drying out like crazy and couldn’t spread the mix. I burnt out my drill so couldn’t make more. To cover what I have already done should I pva the whole ceiling and start again using an extra time retardant? With one or two coats of skim.?
Informative video pal 👍.. i personally use flexible tubs for washing off... I find the hard plastic skim buckets better as they are high sided and create less splash over your legs...😁
We almost always use multi but board finish is essentially the same. You are able to use multi finish on plasterboard but not board finish on PVA as a general rule, so it's just more convenient for us.
Once you’ve mixed your plaster, you have to wash your bucket and tools straight away? Where do you put your plaster then? Do you take it out the bucket and leave it on the floor?
Worst explanation ever u didn’t even give us measurements as to how much part of water compared to powder. That’s way too much plaster for the job i want to get done.
I was just about to mix in a plastic water bucket when I thought 'well, why not watch a video on how to mix first?'. VERY glad I did. Thank you!

Just like making a frappe or a lemon meringue pie
Happy days! Great video, i now have neatly plastered skirting wall
Straightforward information. Quick, clear, concise. Ready to mix now. 👍🏻
Why is this so satisfying to watch 🤣
normally one builders bucket of clean water will mix one bag of plaster.really njoy your videos.great workmanship.
Thanks Mark. I'm glad there are a few of you guys out there watching and making the videos worthwhile creating.

Best tutorial on here. I really like how it’s explained. 👏🏻👍🏻
Thanks Paul, I really appreciate that.
great stuff, as a complete novice how much would this all cost? for the correct whisk and everything else please?
Very clear video!
Very nice 👍🏽
Thanks!

Make a video on how you get the plaster on the trowel from the hawk. Beginners will need it.
Will do!
@@ryanseeley perfect m8
Then how you put it on the wall lol
😅
Brilliant nice and clear thank you.
Thanks, I hope your found this useful
Big up Pete top plaster
Great video
So why my plaster is ready to use only about 30mins?
I used those tall white buckets for years ...... they are a pain in the chufty
How is 25kg bag to 11.5l of water a ratio of 1:1? I'm seriously asking because my 5kg bag says 5kg to 2.5 liters which I did and it was way too much powder even adding it slowly
Sorry, this is trade talk. I'm talking buckets to bags. A 14L bucket full most of the way is probably about 12L
12.5 litres of water to a full bag of multifinish.

What is the tub litre capacity for 25kg bag? Thanks
Do you have preferred brand for the power mixer?

Skimfast Plastering thanks for taking time to reply and thanks for info much appreciated. Cheers
@@ryanseeley Why should you not use a drill attachment? As I am not planning to do a lot of plastering but only a couple of walls.
Hi I see bellow to avoid using whisk attachment for drill, why is this? I can't justify a full mixer just for the wall a have to attempt
Thanks

No I don't, I just mix up right away. I give my tools a quick clean but the mixing tub is fine.

Looking to find information on how to use a Refina roller pan mixer to mix lime calbux 90 based plasters, any ideas where to look ?
Looks so easy not sure what I did but mine was not creamy today lol messed it rt up no beginners luck

Thanks for the video. May I know how can I buy the rubber bucket?
Is that 8-10m2 coverage with 2 coats or just one? It's not specific
Informative video pal 👍.. i personally use flexible tubs for washing off... I find the hard plastic skim buckets better as they are high sided and create less splash over your legs...😁
Thanks! Yeah I've been considering switching to a hard plastic one. thanks for the recommendation 👍
do you ever use board finish or is multi better
We almost always use multi but board finish is essentially the same. You are able to use multi finish on plasterboard but not board finish on PVA as a general rule, so it's just more convenient for us.
They're both shit
So really, use clean water, put water in the bucket and dump the equivalent of plaster or less in the water, nice
I have 600g of plaster so how much water would i need because it says 2.5 parts.
what are the metal edges called that you can nail on to create a good edge/corner before you plaster?
Thin coat angle beads
@@ryanseeley thankyou! quick reply got you a sub as im in a rush lol !
Glad to hear it 😂
What liter is your plaster bucket?
Why is my plaster grainy? Not enough water? Product ought of date? I don't get it
What would cause a mix to set almost instantly?
one of two things most likely.
1. Unclean water
2. Out of date plaster
Okay my fat butt thought that was chocolate ice cream 😂

As a rule 25kg bag of multifinish goes into 12.5 litres of water. Cut the ratios if you need less skim.
