At the 2022 edition of Watches and Wonders in Geneva, Hublot created a stir by unveiling a new square-shaped watch design inspired by the iconic Big Bang. The SQUARE BANG UNICO joins the barrel-shaped models already featured in “The Shaped Collection”. Its distinctive geometry is a real feat of craftsmanship for watchmakers who are traditionally accustomed to working with round cases. True to form, Hublot took this opportunity to demonstrate its technical expertise. The specific features that contributed to the Big Bang Unico’s popularity have been reinterpreted in this new format, including the case’s sandwich-like construction and the use of high-tech materials. All characteristics of the brand icon are clearly visible, including the 6 functional H-shaped screws, one of the Maison’s signature features. Clients and collectors alike have clearly acknowledged the Square Bang Unico’s appeal, giving it a resounding vote of confidence.
One year later, Hublot has taken the model back to the drawing board, this time exhibiting the Maison’s exceptional skills through the use of sapphire with the exclusive SQUARE BANG UNICO SAPPHIRE, offered in a limited run of 250 pieces. Despite the two-fold challenge of its square format and the case’s multi-layered sapphire construction, Hublot’s engineers have successfully ensured that this timepiece is water-resistant to a depth of 5 ATM.
The renowned Unico movement, manufactured in-house, has also retained all the distinct features on which its reputation is founded. Set at 4 Hz (= 28,800 A/h) and offering a 72-hour power reserve, is the prestigious automatic column-wheel flyback chronograph calibre known as the HUB1280. Incidentally, it is perfectly adapted for the square format, allowing it to be admired through the openwork dial, the back of the watch, and now through the sapphire crystal case itself.
Furthermore, Hublot is strengthening its position as a pioneer and leader in the use of ceramics by presenting two new editions of the SQUARE BANG UNICO, in WHITE and BLACK.
Each of these three models is fitted with a rubber strap and a titanium deployant buckle clasp. The One Click interchangeable system, developed exclusively by Hublot, makes it possible to personalise the watch by choosing from an extensive range of optional straps.

I do enjoy Hublot watches. They are not boring but daring. The pioneer of evolution.
True, thanks for sharing!
Most watch brands look to the past for inspiration. Hublot always look forward and as a result, come up with some amazing looking pieces.

The Diversity in Many Brands Styles & Material's it's 2023 💫a Great Time to be Alive & HuBLoT are Alive☄️
Hublot never stood still...
Not my style but I still appreciate the uniqueness. Very nice watches. Well done Hublot.
Thanks for sharing and showing respect to what Hublot does!!!
I enjoy Hublot's use of materials and construction techniques. It is interesting to see how they command their user experience across so many product lines. I wish I had the ability to buy one of these, but perhaps they are already adding value by teaching me a bit of patience and a bit of ambition 😉
Love your passion, thanks for sharing! I keep my fingers crossed....
@@WatchAdvisor I hope you get some time with some of the new Sang Bleu collaboration pieces. I dream of the All Black variant.
@@sebastien6483 Not yet planed… but the year is not over yet… 😉
Fun watches, finally!
Can you specify the two word “fun watches”?
I think it is great that Hublot experiment with different case materials. For me personally, I would be cautious about purchasing a sapphire case due to my own clumsiness, so a steel version would be my choice, but the principle is a grand effort. I would say that you would wear the sapphire version on very special occasions. As for previous comments insinuating that this is a Cartier Santos copy, one should always remember that Cartier is principally a jeweller and it could be argued that Cartier have effectively copied other watch manufacturers but tweaked them to present some representation of individuality. I think we must always be careful to not judge too quickly, as every manufacturer inspires another manufacturer with a design. A good example would be Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms inspiring Rolex’s Submariner. This can be an Incestuous industry and we should all be aware of this and see the bigger picture.
Very good comment James, thanks for sharing!
@@WatchAdvisor Thank you Alexander. It is important to give some balance and thank you for a great video once again🙏
This watch is so interesting to me and I will try it on my wrist tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing, please keep us posted!
I have tried it on my wrist today. This is an unconventional watch, which is very versatile. However it is very pricey and limited to 200 pieces only.
Thanks again for sharing! I guess you tried the sapphire version... What about the others? Did you see them too?

Wow! If you could only choose one... Which one would it be?
@@WatchAdvisor Clear Sapphire is like Ice it would have to be "..
Same here 😉
While these are stunning (especially the sapphire one) ❤, I wish Hublot would not take as much inspiration from other brands and dis something unique. All Hublots are homages to other watch designs…but still a fantastic time piece 😊
Hublot has massively inspired other brands too… in this industry nothing is safe… 😉
Hublot has their own unique design expressed in different shapes, that's all. None of them are meant to be homage to anything.
DEAR ALEXANDER AND RAPHAEL,
HAPPY NEW YEAR. 🙏
GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIENDS. I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU AND VERY HAPPY FOR YOU. I HOPE ALL OF YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE. I HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST AND HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. I LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH. I LOVE MR. ESPARZA AND ALL OF MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS SO VERY MUCH. I LOVE HUBLOT WATCHES. 🙏
SINCERELY PETER
You're a frickin psycho 😂
Woo'Hoo it's P.S. 💫👽💫
Ceramic and Sapphire is a difficult material to manufacture cases, they look great but not easy. The dial side quick strap release is good but would be bittern the back side.
Thanks for sharing!
Intresting version of the cartier santos
It is not! Be honest … if you take the existing design of the round Hublot Big Bang and you transfer it into a square Big Bang … the Square Bang Unico is exactly what comes out… there are also similarities to other designs and vice versa … And by the way ... Hublot didn’t copy Richard Mille … RM did not invent the tonneau shaped cases either … also Franck Muller when the brand started to reuse them years ago and made them famous again ... FM copied the design from Vacheron Constantin… Hublot did not copy AP’s Royal Oak… the design of the Big Bang was an evolution of the early Hublot case (before Jean-Claude Biver and Ricardo Guadalupe bought the brand). The French word “Hublot” stands for porthole…. So the porthole-shaped design of the early Hublot case was not a coincidence… and it’s evolution is what it is…
@@WatchAdvisor btw, Royal Oak design is based on diving helmet, Hublot design on porthole.
I enjoy this channel and the work you do, but This Hublot design is just a copy of the previous generation Cartier Santos XL Chrono.

Don't worry, no one is going to confuse a Santos XL with this Square Bang or vice versa. 😂 I think these shout Hublot.
Yes, there is far enough Hublot DNA to clearly identify it as such…
@@WatchAdvisor I disagree, Hublot is well known for copying other brands designs. RM, AP etc. But disagreeing makes debating in the hobby interesting.

Hublot Santos?
Please read my different comments below… then you will understand that what you wrote is wrong…
@@WatchAdvisor pardon me. I didn't mean Hublot Santos but rather Hublot Dumont
Hahahaha but you made a point
Never mind!
Santos. 👎🏻
Please read my answer to the comment underneath…
An egregious plagiarism of the Cartier Santos 🤬
You should read the comments and my answers here to understand why you’re wrong and this is not true…
