Eli's death was rather shocking at the time and Alyx's last words to him crushes your heart. Anyone that has lost a parent can related.

There was also a security guard in Black Mesa who helped you get through the hanger guarded by the HECU. He was excited for the "successful" escape. However, right after he opened the door in the control room for you, an alien grunt appeared and literally beat him to death. The door was shutting down at the same time so you were forced to hear his painful moaning until nothing came out eventually.
That's one of the saddest ones. Right before his death, the dude was so happy he made that far and was still alive, only to die so suddenly and brutally and there's nothing you can do for him :( I fealt really sad for him

Those aren't screams there are grunts produced by the guard beating the alien grunt to death

@Darwisy 124 Actually the Black Mesa marines are ordered to kill and not all of em are evil cause u could hear one of the soldiers talking about that its awesome to kill aliens but he feels bad about killing the scientist and guards.
I don't know why, but i always been trying to save scientists from Half-Life, even using bugs, lol. (And yeah, Security guard from 0:40 isn't dead, lol)

i like how Laszlo is seen very briefly with seemingly barely any comfirmed lore behind him yet he left such a great impact on the HL community.
4:31 my first ever run of this game i tried to get the gnome achievement, i left it right infront om me during this scene and had to stare into its face the whole time
In left 4 dead 2 theres an archievement too, you need to play a mini game on a place called whisperin oaks, after got many points, a box opens and inside is the same gnome, in this game is called chompski, and you got the archievement when you get the gnome whit you at the end of that campaing

The fact that you have to destroy a companion cube is truly one of the most saddest things in portal
It really shows how much everpresent the feeling of isolation is in Aperture, that even a cube with hearts is the closest thing you have to a partner there.
