      @@wageslave5093 How is it separate? Socialism is parasitic. It needs a host to draw innovation and surplus capital from since it offers little incentive to produce. When the host is completely dead socialism dies too.

      @@wageslave5093 Wrong. Unless the "employees" are indentured slaves like in China, it is a system of mutually beneficial trade. Nobody is forcing you to trade your available work capital for money. You do that voluntarily. However, capitalism can get corrupted by government in the same way socialism inherently does. But corrupted capitalism isn't really capitalism anymore since it lacks the ability for everyone to participate equally (ie government enabled monopolies are socialistic).

      @@wageslave5093 Look up "Taxation in China". China is a combination of communism and fascism since it allows private ownership of many businesses. Beijing now has more billionaires than any city in the world--all of them are compulsory "partners" with the CCP. Fascism and communism are both forms of socialism--just as government corrupted/controlled "capitalism" where the government picks the winners based on political objectives (aka imperialism).

Despite the fact that traits that inform political leaning are heritable and intelligence is heritable, Ben will say that he doesn't care about America turning brown and that only culture matters as if the genetics of a population don't inform culture. Additionally, despite constantly claiming that he is principled, Ben's justifications for the state are public goods theory and social contract theory, which can be used to literally justify anything

    • @MusicFan-qc1ig
      @MusicFan-qc1ig 7 років тому +5

      Lol that rich kid probably got it from his/her parents and didn't have to work for it. When I was a high school senior, we had a senior superlative in our yearbook for "student (male and female) with the most expensive car". This is not a joke. This was real. It's like saying, "Hey everyone, look how spoiled I am!" It's such a dumb superlative. Plus, in reality, it should really be given to the parents for how hard they work.

    • @PropaneTreeFiddy
      @PropaneTreeFiddy 7 років тому +5

      Kids living on social welfare might not be as rich, but at least as spoiled as these high school children owning nice cars.
      It's not about how much free money you get, it's about the fact that you get free money for doing nothing, ergo being a waste of resources.

      Xftbllplyr the Bible is Zionist because the Lord promised reestablishment of Israel in it, several times. Jeremiah 31, Genesis 3, repeatedly God vows to bless Israel and condemns those who condemn it

    Socialism doesn't make people selfish, it just creates a negative social consequence to this natural human characteristic,while the free market manages to channel natural selfishness into positive social consequences.
    I believe this is because socialism requires the 'zero sum' state to disperse the 'goodies' while a 'growing pie' free market creates non governmental mechanisms to disperse the goodies.

      cogsys cogent So true! The problem we have nowadays with capitalism is that its so well established.
      At the beginning, dorexample after afinancial crisis or a war capitalism is very efficient but we already have croossed a peak point. A point where the selfishness of a few winners made them too mighty forgetting the small people, because the system lost controll of the force of the egoistic big players.
      Getting taxes from world leading companies would solve the problem. And not making the system even weaker against egoism.
      I dont know how people cant see this. I think ist their own blurred skill of self evaluation. They realy think they are still able to make success the honest way.
      In reality you have to betray humanity to make it in this system.

      An opportunity? How about the people who cannot afford access to education in order to get a suitable job? How will they be given even a job, especially in the modern period, wherein companies and business establishments demand a high standard of education for those who wish to be part of their company? Even though if they did belong to the middle class, a common problem stopping the youth of today from getting opportunities and a job would be the student debt due to the high costs of college. You conservatives preach about equal opportunity and hard work, yet the youth of today do not even have an oppurtunity to finish college and receive and adequate job.

    "Capitalism will always have 'inequality' because all liberty has 'inequality' ". "If you develop an iPhone you make a lot of money, that's just the way it is".
    Question - how is developing an iPhone and making a lot of money "inequality"?!

    • @flagermusen
      @flagermusen 7 років тому +3

      The point is that people are born with different talents, interests and abilities. If you allow an environment where people are allowed to freely manifest their abilities, you will end up with some people doing better than others. That can be due to innate intelligence, due to hard work or simply due to luck. But some people accomplish things (like making an iphone) while others would rather sit on their couch all day and eat doritos. Why should these two people enjoy equal benefits? They shouldn't and they can't, unless you forcibly steal from the achievers and give it to the non-achievers. This is the core principle of socialism, state control of the economy. In capitalistic systems, the market will decide who is contributing more value, and everyone can benefit on a voluntary basis if you make an effort.

    • @flagermusen
      @flagermusen 7 років тому

      Because they contribute more? Who decides what you deserve in life? A council of elders? The government? Your mommy and daddy? No, the market does. If you have something of value - it can be knowledge, skills, character, talents personality, achievements whatever, that other people find valuable - you will be rewarded for it.

    There's a part in here that reminds me of a statement made by Milton Friedman in his book Free to Choose.
    CONCLUSION:
    "A society that puts equality--in the sense of equality of outcome--ahead of freedom will end up with neither equality nor freedom. The use of force to achieve equality will destroy freedom, and the force, introduced for good purposes, will end up in the hands of people who use it to promote their own interests. On the other hand, a society that puts freedom first will, as a happy by-product, end up with both greater freedom and greater equality. Though a by-product of freedom, greater equality is not an accident. A free society releases the energies and abilities of people to pursue their own objectives. It prevents some people from arbitrarily suppressing others. It does not prevent some people from achieving positions of privilege, but so long as freedom is maintained, it prevents those positions of privilege from becoming institutionalized; they are subject to continued attack by other able, ambitious people. Freedom means diversity but also mobility. It preserves the opportunity for today's disadvantaged to become tomorrow's privileged and, in the process, enable almost everyone, from top to bottom, to enjoy a fuller and richer life." Friedman, Milton. Free to choose a personal statement. Created Equal, 148.

      You seem to be referencing something without bringing it up, dismissing all of the things that get done despite or without government intervention, and denying human nature. Your comment makes no sense.
      People are self-interested and respond to incentives. They aren't that way because there are groups of people in D.C., in their state capital, or town hall writing words down on pretty pieces of paper. Those qualities partly imply that people will always want to get from point A to point B. Given that the demand for transportation is there, and if profit can be made, the kind with the most desired qualities will be supplied. Electronic toll collection, traffic 'laws' that don't mean someone can search or take your property for any reason that they can pull out of their ass, maintenance done in the middle of the night, higher speed limits, lower speed limits, number of stores in the area, number of restaurants in the area, etc. It's really that simple.
      Shopping malls, housing development corporations supermarkets, restaurants, auto shops, etc. will have to provide and maintain roads in order to stay in business. They couldn't just depend on the government to socialize the costs of building the infrastructure that allows them to make money. Let alone to everyone regardless of how much they damage the road, use the road, or even like the road.
      If you take away people's ability to force other people to pay for roads, the desire for them(or an alternative) will not disappear. That desire will simply manifest itself in another way.

    I've been making the point about knowledge and wisdom for so long. My sister is a remarkably intelligent person. Always straight-A's, very well-read, etc. My sister believes that black people cant be racist, rape culture is real in America, and that making a rape joke means you're obviously in support of rape. She was an ardent Bernie Sanders supporter, believes Palestine are the good guys, and thinks that Trump is Hitler and is going to start WWIII. She is an SJW with a 4.0, basically. Overflowing with knowledge, but not an ounce of wisdom to be found. I pray she grows up one day, especially before she has kids.

  • @galaxyofreesesking2124
    @galaxyofreesesking2124 3 роки тому

    The conflation of the argument "behavior should not be dictated by mood" with the idea that it therefore makes rape okay is deeply naïve and one-dimensional. He's essentially saying that there is more to life than how you might feel about doing something. Life is more complicated than that -- than merely being in the mood to do one thing or another. Why should sex, of all the meaningful, intimate and sensitive things, be _dictated_ by it, then? To _want_ and to _consent_ to something like that should be based on something more concrete and meaningful than "mood." His argument can be distilled down to: "the life of a person who is governed by emotion is a generally fickle one." To act on sex only based on your mood _is_ to only express your mood, and nothing else. As such, it defeats the purpose of sex in the first place. It should be something you do as an expression of love, care and the joy you feel for being married to your spouse. Nothing less. It's not a vulgar statement about potentially letting some swain have his way with you (or in vise-versa), it's specifically meant to mean that your actions should be more conscious and meaningful. He is _also_ not saying to abandon your emotions. He argues that you should have _control_ over them, rather than letting them control you.

    I pray Denis Prager goes up north to Canada, they need it, they are struggling with their Leader, who is pretty much a Socialist, people are suffering I travel to Canada to visit relatives and watch Junior Hockey games. I talk to guys there they are good guys, who want to do their jobs, pay small amounts of their hard-earned pay to taxes, but as limited as possible, I met a nice canadian kid, who's a friend of my Nephew, hes a conservative, and a great admirer of Mr. Prager, he watches PragerU all the time, anyway he and my nephew told me what was going on, they want to shut down free speech, Canada may fall, unless people like Mr. Prager, give them new hope, and help our frozen Neighbor, after all, they are our fellow man, and a good Neighbor, as one of the ten commandments say, "Love thy Neighbor, as thyself". God bless you Denis, you've done a world of good.

      Listen Americans care about others, as do most Americans, I am part Canadian, my Mother was Canadian. I live in Michigan, right up near the Border, I've lived a long life, I played Junior Hockey in Canada in the 1960's, I had fun playing for the St. Catherines Blackhawks, nearly made it to the Pros, but I called up into the Marine Corps, where I served five years in Vietnam. If you really care about someone you do it on your own free will, you don't ask the Government to do it for you, life has many choices, which each person deserves to decide on their own. This is why God allows evil, its a choice, be good or evil, that is why I feel that fathers should raise their children in values, now they won't all turn out perfect, but unless you stick to good values, you will end up with a feel good society, not do good. Also, I am not out of my mind, I worked for everything I own, I give each year to Charity, I've always helped people in need, not asking for money at all. I was raised to help a man if he fell down a well, and get him out of there, if he was hurt I'd give him first aid, But once he was healed up, I do not want to carry him on my back for the rest of his life. Every Christmas, my wife and I go out and bring gifts to the needy, no one tells us to do it, we do it because we want to help our fellow man. See, no Government needs to tell me to help people in need. Canadians are good People for the most part, as are Americans, helping someone in need is called being a good person, however the Government should not motivate the poor to remain poor, they should try to cut a little bit of welfare spending and make it less tempting to be poor, now I'm not saying you need to be rich, but Middle class life is very good, its been good to me and my family. Socialism, sounds nice but it just steals one mans money and give it to someone for nothing.

    There is a point I must refute. The point where Prager says that countries that are seen as more socialist with a higher tax rate(ex. Denmark) donate less of their disposable income than countries where tax rates are relatively lower (ex. US). The main problem that I have with this argument is that with such a high tax rate (61%), Denmark citizens can expect their healthcare and their education to be provided for and that the income inequality to not be as extreme as what we see in the US.
    When a society has such a high tax rate with as much social safety nets, the "giving" to charity is equivalent to paying your taxes. Therefore, the tax payers are indirectly looking out for those that are poor and disadvantaged rather than having to make an external contribution to a charity. The giving is implicit in their society. That is why some of these "socialist" countries are much happier than the average American. In America, it is possible for corporations to virtually eliminate any of their corporate tax contributions through legal loopholes involving the US and different countries. Also, a lot of states give incentives in the form of tax breaks for huge corporations to settle (ex. Amazon) there.
    You make a lot of great points in this video but in my view, the selfish people are people that dodge taxes and pull us deeper into this deficit of debt which is the modern form of indentured servitude.
