I really hope they integrate this into something like Google Assistant on mobile. AI in a mobile assistant could be incredibly useful

I just got bard this morning. My favorite thing to do with any of these AIs is to have it generate for itself a personality based on a few parameters that I give it and to generate its own complete back story. Then tell it to respondbto me AS that character and to talk naturally and see how long of a conversation it can hold before breaking character.
Usually some fantasy world with magic and what not.
I had wondered if Google had its own version of chat gpt. Sounds like it's meant for a more customized Google search for the user. Which is actually kinda nice. Also I think Google is being smart by waiting to release it to the public. With talks about social media, misinformation and section 230 ramping up from a legal standpoint it's probably best to be conservative with the release.
Google has always had its own LLM's but they have a habit of having trillions of dollars but with zero clue on what to do with it

I asked it if Home Assistant was better than Google Home. It gave a decent balanced view of both platforms :)
I used it to give me recommendations on lenses and accessories for my Nikon D7100 camera. So far I've been impressed with some of the results although it did say the camera does not have a built-in microphone which is false.
I have a reason to prefer Bard over Chat GTP: If you want to create a chart or a graph of data, Chat GPT will only give you a list in text, but Bard gives you a graph of data, e.g. a two-dimensional coordinate graph representing y=mx + b. Just plug in a range of values for x.
Bard is only limited to the US and UK as of right now unfortunately, so I haven't had the chance to test it yet.

Imo the sources information should only be shown if we ask for it "Show me were you found that?", through an option to show or not show the sources or even through a small icon on the corner of each answer that would make the UI more chat like
I'm still trying to understand how Google got beat to the punch with AI technology. I believe they've been developing AI tech for well over 5yrs now. Then they 💩 the bed when Open AI releases Chat GPT? How did they not see this coming? I'll tell you how... COMPLACENCY!
because they wanted to perfect it as much as they could before they rolled it out. Imagine if google received the same criticisms as Bing did when they first came out, or Bings first version of their own chatbot

just like the Assistant, Google didn't know how to monetize it. more Bard queries = fewer Google searches and ad revenue.
Because their enormous revenues come from showing website links and chatgpt main goal is to make you stop searching websites.

If it is not available in your country it may mean that there is no support in case your device brakes. So just go with the competitors.
