Personally I'm waiting for the Pixel 9 to come out so I can pick of the Pixel 8 for considerably cheaper. My 4a still works well but the battery is definitely not what it once was.
I'm waiting for Pixel 10 for a better chipset and camera. Currently using Pixel 3a. I'm a big fan of A series of Pixel and always keep A series pixel phones.
Like you said, Pixel 8 is currently discounted to $550. Pixel 8a is rumored to be between $500-550. I'm not understanding Google's value proposition here.
Damn!!! I wanted a green Pixel 6a but my favourite second hand shop only had a white 6 Pro so I had to just settle for that. Guess what? 1 month later there was stock of the Green 6a. DAMMIT!!!!
Definitely interested in the 8A. Currently rocking the 7A. You guys should do a follow up video on the 7A a year on and see how it stacks up in the current gen market.
I was going to wait for the 8a, looking to upgrade from my 6a, then noticed Amazon was doing a fire sale for the P7P, £450 new, I pulled the trigger as it was too good a deal to miss.
Im a massive google fan currently using the pixel 8! One thing ill never be doing again is buying on launch day! I think a smaller pro 9 will be interesting tho but it all depends on the price!
The price doesn't seem worth it for 8a. There are sales on the regular pixel 8 that make it superior to the non-affordable knock-off. Just a few more days waiting but I think I'm going to go with the standard 8. It'll be my first upgrade from 4a so there will be loads to see on these new models either way
Good device but the price isn't really good, there's not enough gap between the 8 and 8a,even now the 8 can be found at 550$ too. My Pixel 6a is still running good, maybe in some time when the 8a price drops it's gonna be a better deal.
Still rocking the Google pixel 7a One year later and I can safely say phone is still running well. I would say 90% good compared to when I first used it Definitely has his hiccups here and there but for the most part runs good. I would compare it to the iPhone SE of Apple, a good solid device but I think it's the similar story where Apple purposely clocked the hardware under with the iPhone SE and we're getting a similar scenario with the pixel a series where they use the tensor chip but they underclock it just a little bit. So in theory it performs better on battery but also worse on performance hiccups
Still rocking the Pixel 6a, after 3 years with the 3a. 8a looks great but I'll probably jump to the more premium Pixels next, Pixel 10 in October 2025.
@@DanSlotea mine was awesome except for battery on those summer trips taking a bunch of photos and the other issue was how slow it was to process photos and lags occasionally. I loved the fingerprint on the back and pulling the notifications with it. I also wanted an ultra wide lens, so all 3 reasons together (battery, performance and the extra camera lens) made me upgrade. I gave it to my brother and he broke the screen within a month...
In the States, the Pixel 8 has been $450 on Google Fi for some time now. The only caveat is that you must stay with Fi for 120 days. I use Fi as my carrier and it's been trouble-free for 3 years.
Think ill wait until the end of the pixel 8 shelf life snd hopefully get the 8 pro at a decent price, i like my 6a just prefer a bigger screen, so ill hold fire until the end of the summer
@@SM-ih3go I had already repaired it once and it wasn't functioning as well anymore. Also the software support was starting to run out. It's still a good backup, but I had to move on
when google gonna release a compact phone again like the 4a ,5 i think 140mm is the best if you tried 130mm on iphone mini you gonna know how huge those 160mm 170mm phones
Cool 👍🏼 But what I hope even more is that small smartphones will be built again. I wish a 9a 5 - 5.5 inch with just the best possible camera and enough battery and oh definitely not an Exynos processor but a Snapdragon! and done!
@@FairplaySid my favorite display size is 5.5inch but the phone is gonna be 130mm so it will have a small battery but idk how asus fit 4300mah in 146mm phone so there is a chance its ok to make it thicker
my pixel 4 is still going great, until they add the swipy thingy (radio waves or whatever that i can use to skip songs by just waving my hand above it) i'm not swapping! Also it's orange, i'm not downgrading from that!
Cool 👍🏼 But what I hope even more is that small smartphones will be built again. A 9a 5.5 inch with just the best possible camera and enough battery and oh definitely not an Exynos processor but a Snapdragon!
i have the 6a and i like it, but the 8a will loos so much better, i dont like boxy phones, the 8a will be pretty, and hopefulyy smaller then the 6a, so i might hopp for it next year when the 9a comes out, wait for the price to drop , + the 6a still works like a boss, very fast , no lags
Someone please tell Google how important it is to get their SOC game straight. As long as the tensor stays as it is, There will always be much better alternatives.
Pixel 8a makes no sense with that pricing in mind. Heating was noticeable on the normal 8. I doubt that the 8a will have the same cooling as its bigger brother. Camera is the same as 7a. In my opinion it makes overall more sense to aim for an pixel 8.
The Piixel a series should be done with, If the rumor mills are right with the Pixel 9 series ( Pixel 9, 9Pro, 9XL) makes good sense and the “a” series will just be embedded with the normal Pixel 9
8a the poor man's version compared to the 8. I'd say just wait a little and be patient for these pixel devices to drop in price. Every time baby. Apple 9 is coming in September 😂 imposter alert with the tensor 4 which as we know is everyone's favourite chipset 🤣 although it's rumoured to be coming with a shed load of memory and for some that could make up some of the shortfall.

Check for preorder deals ..I got my 8 for 250, by trading my 7
They give you next to nothing for a 4a (or 5) though.
Also rocking the 4a and I am experiencing the same thing, the battery is not as good as it once was
Same. 😅
My 4a is perfect. But the battery is old. I love the phone!
I'm still rocking pixel 5 😂😅
custom rom?
Same.. folding phone or Nothing Phone or Pixel ?
I'm replacing my 4a only because my screen just cracked.

yep, and the pixel 8 has 7 years of updates, so I don't see a reason not to buy now
I just picked up a Pixel 8 for $450 after a Google One special offer. At that price, there's no need for the 8a.
@@tropicten How can i get this offer? Is it only for the US and if so, is there world wide shipping?
Is this offer only in America? Cause here in India, the p8 never goes below 800-850$ and pixel 7 is still at 540$
Me either. Their a series has always been a strange concept to me personally.
It's good that the phone will be smaller

I'm looking at picking up the Pixel 8, and I hope that the release of the 8a will see the 8 drop in price.
I think it works the opposite. P8 has recently been on sale for $499. Once 8a is released, p8 will be full price.
