    Thanks. I could've spent hours talking about all my favorites, but i thought this would be more to the point. I'll probably do a Top 20 in a few months.

    I LOVE how "no fighting" was on the list of rules for your NES club hahah. That was classic!

    I would love to see a "Top 20/30/40/50 NES games" by the NESComplex. In my opinion this channel is the most interesting when it comes to gaming because of how diverse the already existing lists are. NESComplex has an opinion and it's definitely worth listening to.

    Nostalgia is that feeling you get when you think about memories from simpler, more innocent times. Often times toys, games, commercials, songs, and such will bring these feelings about.

      2:29 😆 A game about Homerphobic people hating Gayliens. That title is horrible.

    I have collected most of the games I grew up with and my collecting for the system has really opened up. It's so much fun discovering new titles that I have never played. Just a few weeks ago I played Jackal for the first time and that thrill of finding an exciting new title is rewarding. Thank you for taking the time to show your collection, I was taking notes for new titles.

    Ah, yes, "The Magic of Scheherazade." A friend of my sisters' once had that game. It was a strangely interesting Zelda Clone which incorporates some RPG-style combat at some points.

    Subscribed a while ago just now seeing this. Nintendo was my childhood also. Started collecting a few years ago myself you have inspired me to continue to collect and look for all the great games on the NES. Great job on the video sir.

    Thanks James...I spread the games out in the living room. It took about 4 hours to get them all out, film, and put them all away... Tiring as heck, but I haven't seen too many collection videos do that particular shot. I spend a lot of time cleaning my games and usually only buy games with good labels. I'm a perfectionist. I wanted to do some greenscreen like a certain bloke I know and walk amongst my games, but changed my mind at the last minute. Thanks for all the compliments, my friend.

  • @NESComplex

    I was a late Jackal player, too. I love that game's play style. What a great title. Other adulthood discoveries with fast paced action are Gunsmoke and Guerrilla War. Great games.

    Well thank you, but I either read or heard others say most of what I know. I spent quite a while looking through my games considering the treasures and turds, the games with funny names and those with bad box art. I'm glad you liked it. The response has been so great that I'm thinking of doing a N64 video like this, too.

  • @NESComplex

    Yes he has been an inspiration to many of us on UA-cam. Parts of this video were done intentionally as a tribute to his influence on me personally. I put a link to his NES Collection video in my description. Thanks for watching.

  • @NESComplex
    @NESComplex  12 років тому

    Thanks. I wanted to do a collection video a little bit differently than I usually see it done. I was trying to just hit the NES from as many angles as I could without overloading it with too many games.

    My all time favorite video game system!! The NES wasn't my first (or last) game system but, it was the one that got me hooked. I still play mine pretty often , to this day. This video takes me back some 30 years ago,to my childhood, when all that mattered to my buddies and I was video games and wrestling. Great, great times!!!

  • @NESComplex
    @NESComplex  12 років тому

    That's probably a good way to approach collecting. My collecting was very organic. I bought what I owned as a kid, then what i remembered laying at friend's houses, then games I had missed... and at that point I bought whatever I saw and didn't have. I mean why not. NES games at the swap meet are usually 3 for $5 or $1 each. It's hard to pass them up.

  • @NESComplex

    Thank you, bro. I was gonna comment on your Gremlins video. I was very impressed... especially with the Mario side-kick bit. That is so awesome. I'm jealous that I didn't think of it first.

I discovered you first....only from you did I come across AVGN. I never knew about him until I saw your channel so basically you popped my cherry in the UA-cam gaming world of this stuff... LOL...I Love AVGN and I thank you for introducing me to that but all in all...YOU are the one that got me started and I owe you a Big Thank You. Thank You Chris. :)

    I played that game all the time as a kid. I kept tying to like it... that's what kids do when they have a new game. I didn't realize how bad it was when I was little... I just kept wandering around the camp, confused by what the heck was going on.

  • @Mzo001

    Scheherazade isn't that obscure a name. She's the queen that staved off being beheaded by the sultan by telling him a different story every night until he fell in love with her. It's from the book One Thousand and One Nights (or Arabian Nights) where stories like Aladdin and Ali Baba (Open sesame!) come from.

  • @NESComplex
    @NESComplex  12 років тому

    Sounds like you have an impressive modern collection. I have less than 20 360 games. lol. You got me beat there. I usually get about 5-10 NES games per month and spend only 20-50 bucks per month... over time it really adds up. 10 games per month is 120 games per year and I've been collecting for quite a while. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.

    I'm a complete sucker for nostalgia. It's a big reason I collect video games and play them. This video has only managed to make me painfully aware at how small my collection is. Also, that I need to finally start printing covers as well and put my games in the UGCs. It looks like you have more NES games than I have games! Awesome video man!

    I grew up on the Atari 2600 but when the NES came out it was over for me! I was officially addicted to gaming and I spent so many nights staying up too late. So many classic games that I still go back to today, what a great era that was in history!

    I know. An earlier version was released in Japan and Europe I believe on the MSX2 computer. I actually said those games either "got their start or were thrust into the mainstream" on the NES. Metal Gear was definitely thrust into the mainstream on the NES. Good call though. :)

    I keep them in a cardboard box in their original plastic cases. At one point i considered doing DS cases for them, but it would have been a pain to cut them and the cover project didn't have most of my games.

    I just ordered a 100 universal game case pack from Media Shelving. Have some great collecting stories so far... buying NES Battletoads/Double Dragon for 11 bucks... bought a Chubby Cherub for 5 bucks when the guy said it was worthless and one of my favorites.... Sesame Street ABC for 3 bucks. At one yard sale I picked up a 25 pack of nes games that had 2 smb two in it for 50 bucks and got an NES advantage with it!

    Good ear and No coincidence. Kevin MacLeod has an excellent collection of royalty free music that he allows anyone to use as long as proper credit is given. This allows me to make better sounding videos and prevents me from getting copyright violations from UA-cam. Gamester81 actually told me about it first and I noticed several UA-camrs including Captain8bit use the music.

    Been watching retro-gaming video's for a year or two now, and I must say the urge to collect some is getting greater. Unfortunately I have no room to even put up 1 more cabinet, and on top of that, I live in Europe where the swapmeets & goodwills are void of retro stuff :(

It is something I really enjoy about Happy Console Gamer's videos and I wish more UA-camrs would do it... so I decided to do it myself.
