I bought a Kenwood cmos-230 backup camera and I have a 2010 Toyota rav4 (that doesn't have a rca input) and I am wondering how to connect the camera either without an rca connection and/or by getting a rca line in adapter? Hey guys thanks for the help I couldn't find the color codes anywhere. You are a life saver. I have one question I had to buy the harness on line for a kenwood kdc-248u. it only has 13 wires, 16 pins. The colors are black-,red+,yellow?,orange?,blue w/white stripe(remote turn on) please tell me orange and yellow wires are.
aggghhhhh just confirming my suspicions. I wired in a kenwood single din unit the other day and decided to leave orange/white unwired because it was left capped off on the previous stereo (as the previous stere was in fact not stock, but an AIWA stereo). NOW I gotta go tear off ALL the plastics AGAIN, remove those screws and rewire that orange/white. Still useful information though. Thanks guys.

Installing g a kenwood,bt310u, in a 92 f150, no amps or nothing, basic install, but the harness doesn't have the orange dimmer wire, it's in the factory harness, and it works, checked with a test light, I'm not sure where to hook up the dimmer wire and for some reason it doesn't show it in the manuals wiring diagram, I know it's an old radio, it came with the truck, brand new in the box, any help would be appreciated

Hi, I put a Kenwood DNX875S in my SLK 280 (standard system, no amplifier) and used the adapter cable to go from European/Mercedes antenna connection to the Kenwood antenna plug, no radio reception at all. Could you do a video of step by step wiring of a newer Kenwood wire harness along with iDataLink and accessories including GPS, SATELLITE RADIO, BLUETOOTH, AM/FM ANTENNA, USB/AUX and including excluding using factory speaker wires. In another words, if your going to run all new speaker wires from amps and do not need the factory wires. Particularly for a 2015 Tundra NON-JBL eliminating the factory amp as well
So on the backup camera does the purple and black wire coming out of the pioneer have to be hooked up to the reverse light wire? Cant I just hook up that purple/black wire to switched 12v that way I can juat hit camera view on the screen? Isn't that wire only to display on the screen when you actually put the car into reverse?

hello i just installed a kenwoodDmx47s to subs and amp, i think i messed up i hooked up the steering wheel remote that in the video with tape to amp power wire. it works fine and shuts off amp when car is shut off, but my bass cuts out here and there but the amp is still on while doing so. Now should i look for blue wire from harness and hook that up to amp power wire?

Hi, I have a Kenwood ddx9703s with a phoenix gold amp. I have RCAs out to my Amp. When I hook up both sub RCAs to my amp from the Kenwood it cuts out. When unit first comes on I hear a couple of popping sounds. Is this normal?

Okay..what happens if I go active dsp with 6 channel amp and I want to go full active on the front tweeters(dash factory tweets) and midranges..do the wires separate the tweeter and mid range or where does the signal ouput all go through the mid range? So i cannot band the pass the midrange separately?
I have an 03 sierra with steerwheel controls and i just bought the kenwood dmx7704s from you. I had an old pioneer that i replaced and i had the PAC SWI-CP5 that i used for the steering wheel controls. When i put the kenwood in i changed the settings on the PAC to be for the kenwood but i dont get the volume and seek to work. all the other controls on the steering wheel are working. When i press the volume on the steering wheel i see that the pac unit is responding because the light flashes but the volume doesn't change. Any ideas?

Great videos, I have been watching a lot to build my confidence. I just bought the DMX 7706, what do I do with the parking switch wire? What is its purpose? I have seen people cut and ground back to stereo, the manual says attach to accessory wire.
Just learning myself but I believe that's bypass mode , putting green wire to black , that means you can view video while the car is moving otherwise if you hook the green wire to the actual ebrake wire the video will only show if the ebrake is engaged. I may be wrong but that's what I believe. I'm about to install one dnx995s and I tied mine to the black in the harness.ill report back in a couple days once installed if you message back.
@@LookOut-km4eg at first I grounded to the stereo. Everything on the stereo worked fine. Except video. Than I grounded to the E brake. Everything works fine, except video. I dont think this stereo will mirror image the phone with the emergency brake on. Other models could this one doesnt seem to be able to play video.
@@LookOut-km4eg I wouldnt want to hook up a power wire where they want a ground. That seems like a bad idea. I would suggest for simplicity ground the Parking brake wire to under a screw at the back of the stereo.
@@david37376 lol seems like your offering me advice now. All depends on the device. It may or may not cause damage hooking up 12v where ground should be. Depends if there's a diode in the circuit ect. Most radios want the green wire grounded,but if your saying the manual says to connect your green ebrake wire to accessories wire then that tells me they want 12v not ground. Accessories wire turns 12v wire after key start, so again maybe they want 12v and not ground?

I have a question. I have a Kenwood KDC X399 which was fitted to a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. I since sold that car and am trying the to put the X399 into a 2016 Keep Wrangler. The Red power line is not connected to the harness I have and I'm wondering how I would connect that to the 2016 Wrangler's harness. The stock radio is getting power from somewhere so I assume I can just connect the red power wire to a port on the Wrangler's harness. Just which one is my question.
+Iain Armstrong Jeeps do not have an accessory power( red) behind the radio. They use Can data to turn on and off. You will want to get a smart harness for your install. Head over the PAC-audio.com for a list of options.
I'm just hoping the steering wheel input (light blue/yellow) off Kenwood harness isn't needed when using the maestro rr and the smart harness. There's no wire to connect it up to in the smart harness so I'm assuming the pink/red wire I have cut and connect into the sync harness will be the steering wheel input? Anyone know? 2012 Ford fusion dnx995s, maestro rr, and the idatalink fo1 harness.thanks

I recently got the Kenwood CMOS-300 I got the radio used so I didn't know I was missing the parking brake and reverse wire purple/white.I got it to work but only when I hold the cam button so I've ordered the wire I just need to know where to hook it up because I have my reverse lights into the wire labeled reverse on the CMOS 300 harness. Do I hook the purple/white wire from the radio into the wire labeled reverse on camera harness then tie it in to the reverse light feed? Sorry if that's confusing. Also when I go to camera settings on the unit everything is gray and you can't click it. Everything except for the interruption where you turn it on and off. Is there a reason for that?

Rabin Boedhoe those wires are outputs for relays. The radio has the ability to turn on and off 2 things connected to those wires. For example if you added a fan for an amp, you could turn them on and off from the radio.

You can either connect it to car ground or with the oem ground wire (black). On an older Jeep XJ, I had to connect the stereo ground to the oem black ground wire since the wiring harness didn’t have ground. Sorry late response but hope this helps on your next install. And another note: If you’re using an aftermarket wiring harness adapter, follow the same wire colors. If you’re hard wiring directly to oem car harness, then look up the radio wiring diagram of your make and model

Im replacing my old DNX6190HD that has those wires on the harness that was using an AXXESS CHTO-013BB interface module. The radio sounds great but I dont have a back up camera and my video screen always says "Parking brake off", do I need to buy a new interface module? I drive a 2009 Jeep JKU. on the back of the radio there is a white 4 pin plug input. That input is where the break and reverse wire would be located. The radio should have come with it, if not you can order it from Kenwood.

Fairly universal across a lot of radios with some small changes between decks.
The orange or orange and white wire for illumination is that a power coming from the radio or is it a negative coming for the radio

+Teraman no that is not normal. That usually means there is a wire touching ground or a bad speaker

Purple is right rear positive speaker output
Purple white is reverse trigger
On a jvc head unit does the reverse wire have any voltage coming out

@@david37376 so I just noticed you said the manual says to connect to the acc. Maybe that's what it needs +12v instead of a ground?

You can connect more than one device to the blue white wire. It can turn on the amp and the antenna

i have a question about the reverse wire. if i have a reverse camera with the yellow rca jack that plugs into the back of the unit. will i have to manually go to my camera screen while in reverse if i do not connect that purple reverse wire?. i want the reverse cam to automatically pop up as soon as i throw the vehicle into reverse
If you want it to pop on, you have to connect the Purple/ white wire to the reverse light wire. If not, yes you will have to turn it on manually.
I have a question. I have a Kenwood KDC X399 which was fitted to a 2013 Jeep Wrangler. I since sold that car and am trying the to put the X399 into a 2016 Keep Wrangler. The Red power line is not connected to the harness I have and I'm wondering how I would connect that to the 2016 Wrangler's harness. The stock radio is getting power from somewhere so I assume I can just connect the red power wire to a port on the Wrangler's harness. Just which one is my question.
+Iain Armstrong Jeeps do not have an accessory power( red) behind the radio. They use Can data to turn on and off. You will want to get a smart harness for your install. Head over the PAC-audio.com for a list of options.
The blue with yellow that's says remote that'll go to the wired remote on the marine setup correct.
Pls elaborate on how to hook the light blue and yellow to the interface??

I'm just hoping the steering wheel input (light blue/yellow) off Kenwood harness isn't needed when using the maestro rr and the smart harness. There's no wire to connect it up to in the smart harness so I'm assuming the pink/red wire I have cut and connect into the sync harness will be the steering wheel input? Anyone know? 2012 Ford fusion dnx995s, maestro rr, and the idatalink fo1 harness.thanks

hey guys; got a kenwood. Still don't understand what you meant re: the blue wires. Sorry. I have a blue & a blue with a white stripe coming out of my two different nissan harness plugs. The kenwood plug has just one blue wire. Do I hook both of those together in a "Y" to the kenwood blue wire?? Thx much! Mike

Hello thanks for making the videos they help allot of people save money. I have a question I've had the Kenwood DNX890hd for awhile. I recently got the Kenwood CMOS-300 I got the radio used so I didn't know I was missing the parking brake and reverse wire purple/white.I got it to work but only when I hold the cam button so I've ordered the wire I just need to know where to hook it up because I have my reverse lights into the wire labeled reverse on the CMOS 300 harness. Do I hook the purple/white wire from the radio into the wire labeled reverse on camera harness then tie it in to the reverse light feed? Sorry if that's confusing. Also when I go to camera settings on the unit everything is gray and you can't click it. Everything except for the interruption where you turn it on and off. Is there a reason for that?
Hi,got a question;i have a 2din Kenwood DNX8220bt,and i see that i have 2 cables connected to a plug that says RELAIS.what is the purpose of those cables and is it needed to connect since the unit is already power by ACC etc
Rabin Boedhoe those wires are outputs for relays. The radio has the ability to turn on and off 2 things connected to those wires. For example if you added a fan for an amp, you could turn them on and off from the radio.
hello. I'm installing a Kenwood stereo on a 2002 Chevy cavalier. when I'm connecting the wires, can I connect the stereo's ground wire to the car's ground or with the other wires? thank you.
You can either connect it to car ground or with the oem ground wire (black). On an older Jeep XJ, I had to connect the stereo ground to the oem black ground wire since the wiring harness didn’t have ground.

If you’re using an aftermarket wiring harness adapter, follow the same wire colors. If you’re hard wiring directly to oem car harness, then look up the radio wiring diagram of your make and model

Hey FSCS, do you guys know where I can purchase a wireless remote for my Kenwood KMM-BT260U? I bought the stereo brand new at Walmart but sadly it didn’t come with a remote control. It said on the box that i can get a Kenwood remonte app, found like 3 but none of them worked for my KMM-BT260U

Ground the lt. Green wire on the back of the radio. If you are talking about the "OK" screen, there is no turning that off. The joys of companies covering their butts. Thank you for the question.

I noticed that my Kenwood DMX125BT does not have that typical orange illumination wire....
And makes the buttons on the left of the screen difficult to see at night! These buttons light up but not the wording/icons....
Great video. Helped out a lot, but I have a question I'm sure you can answer. I just bought a Kenwood DNX572BH and it doesnt have the 'parking break' or 'reverse' wires on it. Im replacing my old DNX6190HD that has those wires on the harness that was using an AXXESS CHTO-013BB interface module. The radio sounds great but I dont have a back up camera and my video screen always says "Parking brake off", do I need to buy a new interface module? I drive a 2009 Jeep JKU. on the back of the radio there is a white 4 pin plug input. That input is where the break and reverse wire would be located. The radio should have come with it, if not you can order it from Kenwood.

The si may have a factory amp, did you connect the blue/ white remote wire up to the blue wire in the aftermarket harness?
