This is a wonderful insight into the world of King's Choir. I viewed it a few days ago, before the sad news of Sir Stephen's untimely death. I was struck by his thoughtful, measured approach, and his obvious deep love for the liturgy. It now seems very poignant, but will stand as a tribute to a great and influential church musician. He leaves a great legacy of choral music, which will continue to inspire for generations.

Ironically, I also had just viewed it a few days ago. You have beautifully expressed everything I might want to say.

Precious video to let many people know the great British Choral Tradition of treble voices! I hope it would continue forever. Thank you.

Interesting to hear how the pronunciation of Middle English in the Weir carol, Illuminare Ierusalem, has changed over the years.

Oops, I forgot to put these multilingual statements in the condolences for Sir Stephen (forgive my brain fog). King's College Choir est 1) maximum chori mundi, 2) mellieur choeur de monde, 3) migliore coro mondiale. No, I am not fluent in foreign languages, but I do love them.

What piece is playing at 35:35? It's a sanctus but I've never heard this one before, does anyone know the composer?

Do you mean Palestrina's "Exsultate Deo"?

      @@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic Sorry I made a typo, I meant 35:35 - and it's the sanctus from Fauré's Requiem in D Minor!

I can't help but be curios about where some of the lads and young men who were featured and how they've fared. They would all be about middle aged by now. I found one on Facebook who is now a cathedral choir director himself!

Look up Guy Johnston, Magnus Johnston, Ashley Grote, and Dominic Gill, all choristers interviewed here.

A most notable moment at 44:32: the boy on our left nudges the boy on his left to assume better posture. The _masculinity_ of this gesture...
