    I had a company car in the 1970's and it was a Chevelle with manual drum brakes and manual steering. (the company was cheap). I remember one day when I was going to a bank and as I turned it to the parking lot, I had both feet standing on the brake pedal, and I ended up on the lawn. And I had to try to find a diagonal parking space because the steering only worked if you were still rolling. I still remember my boss having a fit when I put a radio in the car, "You will only be sitting in the car and listening to the music". One day he told me to take the panel truck to pick up something. I drove out of the lot and almost immediately, the rear tire exploded. It was worn through the belts.

    An awesome restoration in keeping it's original engine and so on. Congrats to Stephen Grady, winner of this cool 68 GTO... well deserved.

    That is A BEAUTIFUL! CAR! As a kid my dad had a 1970 SS GTO. Had it painted British Racing Green metallic fakes with the double racing lines from the hood to the trunk in White. Till this day we speak about that car & how much it would be worth today. I really loved that style car but truth be told this 1968 you have here is A BEAST! Of a machine. If I ever hit lottery. You will Definitely get a call from me. Great Job!🫡👍

    I like all old cars but grew up in the back seat of a 74 Buccaneer red/red 455 Trans Am, that's where the Pontiac love affair began. A dozen GTOs/Le Mans/Firebirds/Grand Prixs later (with a couple Mopars in the mix), the affair continues. Ima hafta buy a bunch of hangers for all those Restomods shirts I'm about to buy. Classy build guys, wouldn't change a thing.

    My best friend from high school had a 68 gto. His was a hardtop with the 400 2bbl carb and auto trans. Looks like only 2841 of those were produced. The car got wrecked after he sold it. Brings back memories.

    OMG that is an awesome car, I have always loved the GTO especially the 68 through 72!
    My brother had a beautiful 1972 Stage 1 Gran Sport solid white, and loaded with all the power options, and unfortunately was stupid enough to sell it in the late 1990's, I could beat his but for doing that!

    Maybe led headlights & taillights to add to the safety also is a lead additive needed for the valves or was the engine updated for modern fuel on the rebuild ? Ps awesome build a lot of people don't know about that pre 73 Pontiac torque that delivered that horsepower better than many competitors even in the gm lineup

    • @josephwolf3006
      @josephwolf3006 Рік тому +1

      I concur, led headlights & taillights would be a plus. For sure, updated valves to accept modern unleaded and biofuel blends. Beautiful car. I am glad it is not an over-the-top restomod, well done.

      @RestoMods the weak link on every Pontiac v8 engine is the oiling system and the cast rods. SHOULD have thrown in Eagle forged rods, and a 80 psi oil pump. GM never gave Pontiac enough money, so they could have done forged rods, so they could be a premier division like Chevy in the GM lineup, to control them.

    • @apachebill
      @apachebill Рік тому +1

      Been slinging the same balanced cast rotating assembly with TRW flattops to 6500 RPM on a 60 Lb pump into the 11s for over 40 years. Oh at 10.66/1 on iron heads at 30° initial burning 93 pump gas. Yeah. Don’t believe everything you read. They don’t know.

    • @RestoMods
      @RestoMods  Рік тому

      the GTO has the original radio. the interior is basically all original but we'll definitely talk to the wrenches to see if there's an upgrade available!

      Factoid from a veteran member of the "Pontiac Police": 2nd gen firebirds had ratchet shifters, we called them "slap shifters" back in the day. Looked factory, but operated like his n hers. Of 7 2nd gen birds I've had, 2, both TAs, had them. Cool link:ua-cam.com/video/_XOF7l4Cv7M/v-deo.html

    What was the time at track???

    • @jasoncallaway726
      @jasoncallaway726 Рік тому

      If they didn't change the gearing & with those taller tires, I'd bet mid-to-low 13 seconds in the 1320. If dude was on it and conditions were just right, might see 12.9, but that would be hard on street tires. Pontiacs are "torque" engines. Lotta guys rev them like a chevy but they make power at lower rpms. Manipulating that power band without floating the valves is key.

    Its a PONTIAC ARROW HEAD..not a BEAK!! My uncle had a 69 gto liberty blue, 400 h.o. engine, he won a many trophies in that car back in the mid early 80s definitely would not use the jack on the bumper as it states in instructions, very bad idea it will damage the bumper, just jack on frames like any other car
