Thanks for the “Sump-tuous” and informative video. The data on size was particularly helpful. Is there any rational ideal for use of space? Example, socks or roller 20%, refrugium 20%, skimmer 20%, media 30%, return pump area 10%? I’s add to the sump benefits that it can serve as a frag. “grow out area,” aggressive fish sequestration area, or plant farm. In sump fantasyland, Jim with too many canisters
I would look at the equipment that you plan to use, then pick a sump based on the size of said equipment. After all, the sump is just a place to put all of this stuff 😊
Could do with information on the actual tank holes? Does everyone drill their own tanks as it seems uncommon when I look online for aquariums with holes pre drilled. It also seems 4 holes is best but on the aquariums I do see pre drilled, there is often only 2 but the suction can get blocked and them the tank overflows
I had a canister running on my 30 gal for about a year and will never use one again. I’m a bit of a “lazy” reefer, doing water changes every other week and it seems that the canister served as a huge cause of nitrates. Most would be better off with a 10 or 20L tank adding baffles or finding a used sump.
i haven't done a water change in 4 years tank has about 400 cherry shrimp 40 tetra 150+ guppies the ato pulls directly from my ro filter my substrate is a 50/50 mix of fluval stratum and blank diamond blasting sand (40 grit) the tank is home built out of 1/2in plexiglass and is 16gal in volume same size as a 10gal tank just taller bottom drilled dual over flows in the back corners with a single return jet flow is a tad over 600gph it has 2 custom light bars i built as well (277 par) and a 20lbs co2 tank cycles when plants look weak
Ive stopped using anything but sumps freah or saltwater. Easier to clean and drilling tanks has gotten very easy, make my own overflow boxes and by weirs from modular marine. I just built a 3500 gph capable overflow for a grand total of 75$
If you have a sump, you'd likely be better off going with a small reactor to run your media instead of a canister filter. In most cases, reactors are easier to maintenance and take up less space.
I'm about to set up a 90-gallon tank for display.... everyone keeps swearing by sumps... I have an empty 60g cube and a 40g breeder.... when you start pricing out all the equipment needed to do the sump compared to an all in one canister price wise the canister seems to blow the other options away... im finding it hard to see the value of the sump unless you have an unlimited budget.... truely thinking of getting a canister then adding a sump to it later on down the line when I can save the money to afford it
Good information but did we need the pounding music drowning out the vocab. It's like trying to listen to somone in a nightclub. I turned on the sub titles and watched on mute.
The video I was looking for 😎
Going to be converting my 40 gallon acrylic freshwater tank to saltwater tank . You will be a big help , just subscribed.
Thank you! Don't hesitate to reach out if you ever have questions! 😀

Quick and easy good video

So can somebody tell what reef mat and skimmer are in that video? I cant find them online for some reason
funny thing is i have a 20gal sump with a roller, refugium, a custom sand bed filter, ato, all on a 10gal fresh water planted tank lol

the background volume is way to loud in this video.
Does anyone know the make and model of the fleece roller in the sump at the beginning of the video?
I believe it's the Klir di-4
@@TitosReef thanks!
Canister filters can store so much more CO2 inside them than a Sump, and thats a very important part of the reefing succes!!.
I have some question if tou can help me please

Anyone thought of a canister & sump combination???

I'm doing that and thinking of moving to 2 canister filters only.
