    You’re an awesome reviewer! Glad I found you, someone who’s reviewing from the heart and not hating just because it’s new. Don’t get me wrong, nothing is perfect and there’s always going to be some growing pains, but all in all I believe this new GX 550 is great! Just need a third row for the overtrail before I pull the trigger.

      Hey thank you - really appreciate it! Agree there will always be some kinks to work out but overall I think they did a good job here

    Great review! Yes, the interior is different from the 460, however this interior fit the STYLE of THIS new model. You really must see this vehicle in person to appreciate just how AWESOME it is. I am anxiously awaiting mine.

    I like the review man! Just maybe set your osmo 3 or any of your cameras to lower the exposure value. Once the highlights are blown out, you can never recover it when editing the lighting in post. You would rather record a slightly "dark" video then raise the shadow levels up. The video was a little too bright. Also, no need to use warp stabilizer. Your footage looks smooth already.

      Thanks man! and I know, totally agree. Tricky exposing for a white car in midday. Thanks for watching!

    You're being generous! The interior is worse than the Rx which actually has wood steering and more plush looking materials throughout. This would be OK in a $40000 Toyota.

    • @MakingMonroe
      @MakingMonroe  27 днів тому +1

      Haha the RX interior is definitely nice and I like that they kept the wood in there. This really is not a bad interior though and is way nicer than a $40k Toyota. I own 23 Rav 4 and it’s a solid car, but this GX interior is WAY better. It may not look it in videos but it’s solid in person.

    Doesn't this have the same engine that was just recalled by Toyota

    • @MakingMonroe
      @MakingMonroe  26 днів тому

      It’s the same engine but does have some differences in tuning, turbos and compression ratio. As of now Toyota hasn’t included it in the recall but time will tell.

    Appreciate the positivity, but do you really think this interior with its mediocre at best materials (fake plastic wood!!) is commensurate with Lexus past and better than Mercedes, Audi, Land Rover, etc.? I no longer see Lexus as a premium brand. At the prices they are asking they should offer more premium materials. Interiors on less expensive or comparable priced cars are far superior. Examples, any Genesis, Mazda 70 and 90, Infinity Q60..... Having said all that, they will probably sell all they make at least for a while. Long time Toyota/Lexus fan and customer. Thanks for the review and letting me rant.

    • @MakingMonroe

      Hey Brian!Thanks for watching. I totally hear you, I’ve personally never been impressed with Mercedes/Land Rover interiors though. They appear nice on the surface and have good design aesthetic but I think the materials are always subpar. Particularly the new merc interiors, feel like tin and plastic to me, this Lexus interior felt much better built and solid, even though they’ve downgraded things like the wood trim. And Mazda and Infiniti are miles below this interior in terms of build quality imho not even in the same category. Genesis is decent but again I think the design aesthetic distracts folks from the actually build quality, which is where Lexus shines. This vehicle comes out of the Tahara plant in Japan, known for build quality, and you can really feel it. My only real concern with this vehicle is the engine recall issues happening with the tundras 3.4 right now. Hoping the GX is spared. So far the Lx has been fine so hopefully the GX will be too,

      Totally agree with you. It really stops me from buying this. It looks beautiful outside but jeez the interior is so bland and simple . Feels cheap.

    • @brianbarbe9646
      @brianbarbe9646 28 днів тому

      @@MakingMonroe I guess we will need to agree to disagree, though I share your appreciation of the Tahara plant reputation. What type Audi do you have? I have a 2018 S6 that I bought new. Now that is an interior! I am considering buying a 4 Runner before those are ruined.

    • @MakingMonroe
      @MakingMonroe  28 днів тому +1

      I hear you. There have definitely been some cost cutting measures implemented, I just think it exceeded my expectations and felt surprisingly solid. Have you test driven one? Audi interiors I can definitely with you agree on - they are solid. I have a 2022 S4 and the interior space is very well done. A 23 4 Runner would be a good grab, or a 23 GX.

    😢. Lexus.. the relentless pursuit of perfection. Not anymore. I own a 22 GX460 luxury. The quality of materials in new GX are very disappointing. Engine, same as LX600 and Tundra, but de-tuned, was just recalled.. lets see how time will judge it.

    Engine is the same as tundra 😂

    • @MakingMonroe
      @MakingMonroe  28 днів тому +1

      Same, but different..Let me explain.
      Lexus GX: 3.4L DOHC, four valves per cylinder, chain drive, with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), 349 hp, 479 lb-ft, 10.3 compression ratio.
      Tundra: 3.4L 24-valve DOHC aluminum cylinder heads with Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i); 389 hp, 479 lb.-ft., 10.4 compression ratio.
      Tundra's engine actually has more power and little higher compression ratio because different ignition map, different turbos.
      I also had the iforce max tundra with the battery which changes the way the powertrain feels, a lot.

      @@MakingMonroe yeah Design is a tricky thing. I might totally be in the minority here but I prefer more sleek and modern cars.. for instance, I really like the design of the Tesla model X. Minimal and modern design. We will eventually get there. I just might need to wait 30 more years. lol
