I had so much fun filming this video with y’all, and it makes me smile hard watching it back 🥹 Thanks as always for the bundles of inspiration and good times!
hey courtney i really love that song you we're playing at the end, it sounds like it could be off my favourite album of yours silver lining, i'd love to know what song that is you're performing
agreed, tell us. i want to listen that. you must have a demo or live version even more fun. love the vibe. you sound so you, and not trendy i love that
So you have the mic hooked into the pedal and then out to a speaker? How did you connect this? I’d love to know seeing as this is the first time I’m seeing this type of pedal, which is awesome!
So lovely with her voice ❤ Everyone who is looking for a deep dive on this pedal should check out Marc Johnston Video which was released at almost the same time. So onward with him and then onward yourself. Have fun everyone. 🙃
very, very cool!! loved hearing her search & experiment. & then to hear her apply onward to a tune that she often performs, replacing all the effects she usually uses with onward... that felt really special, even hearing that tune for the first time. it must've been really exciting for her performing it. bravo, team!!
Absolutely heavenly! Love hearing it in this context! Will there be a video manual video? Always find those so helpful when sitting down with it for the first time.
Hey! No video manual this time unfortunately, our bud Matt Lowery who makes them went on the road to film a documentary. @mattlowerymusic you hear that? We need you to come back.
Hey Marc Johnston just released his full review of the Onward. Very deep dive and it covers almost everything you need to know to start with Onward. Enjoy 🎉
@@sese6344 So awesome, right?! He’s great. I wish it were even longer! The more video content, the merrier! Might even help sell more pedals. I just want CB to sell as many as possible. Plus I get all my preset ideas from them, haha!
@@sese6344 MJ's epic walkthrough is 1hr 30mins, and in the first 45mins you hardly hear anything people didn't show in 10mins ) a full length movie my god. he should've employed no-talk format maybe, esp. as he talks so fast (but pretty uninformative).
Beautiful….Courtney makes everything sound cosy, comfortable, unexpected and intimately laced with layers of harmony with fun…top tier chase bliss ambassador. 🌌
I feel like you should have a Boss Rc-202 or 505 to use with that pedal and your others. Then you could record what your creation from the Onward, overdub on top of that and overdub on top of that ad infinitum. Then you can drop it into a DAW and make it a complete composition. Thanks for the video.
Amazing demo although I wish we were clearly shown what other pedals were being used in the mix as it’s not entirely clear what was creating the effects aside from the onward. 🙏
I haven’t even read the manual yet and after this video I’m feeling I should! But to be fair it’s one of the only pedals by Chase Bliss that’s plug and play immediately
Instant Laurie Anderson! Just add throat. I've only tried mine on guitar, but I've now seen demos using harp. marimba, saxophone, and voice. Where is the violin and banjo demo? Is there *anything* it can't bring aural delight with?
yeah, two or three.. but honestly, it's been clear for long time - CB should produce a larger FX sampling/mangling unit, in a larger, tabletop format, with best ideas from a few existing pedals combined with new ones. can't believe it would cannibalize sales, quite differently, open up a vast new territory. so long overdue. guys got so much experience and market power now, and not too much competition in that area... so when? ))
Courtney, please don't become a slave to the tech. I loved your voice when effects were used sparingly on all the Bent Knee albums before Frosting. Keep it organic or you will lose everything you have so brilliantly built.
This video was so cringe... 😮 Onward is totally unusable in a live setting... The only way you can use it is to record everything you do with it and try to capture usable parts... 💥
If anything this video shows the exact opposite, even to the extent of her putting it in a live performed song at the end. If its not your style that's cool, but it is absolutely a musical device and being used here very musically.
now THIS is epic
hellzjeah!!

@cha1isu talk to us here, miss swain. we inquiring minds wanna know, yo!!
This is the best product demo in the history of product demos.
Courtney's voice is just divine and pairs so great with the pedal. amazing showcase, love it 💖💖🎶🎶
Wasn't really feeling Onward honestly, just didn't seem like my thing. After this video though, I'm totally sold.
Chase Bliss (incl. Tom) = Genius
Courtney = Genius
Chase Bliss + Courtney = Geniyaaasssssssssss!!!!
simply the best Onward demo so far. and probably for ever. and likely, not just Onward but any pedal for that matter.
So you have the mic hooked into the pedal and then out to a speaker? How did you connect this? I’d love to know seeing as this is the first time I’m seeing this type of pedal, which is awesome!
Mic is going into an audio mixer first, then out to the pedal, then into an audio interface for capture.

Probably one of the coolest stereo effects I've ever heard. Wow!
It’s like Bon Iver and Imogen Heap in a box 😂 Love it! ❤
You did it again. Your pedals are just inspiration and happy accident MACHINES! 🙌🏻
Dude I wanna play sax through this thing so bad.
I think this video has helped me finalize my decision to do just that🙌
what a treat to hear all of this unfold. So many memorable moments here. Courtney is so well suited to this exploration. Lovely stuff :)

Courtney’s such a next level musician and combining her talents with such an exciting, expressive pedal is joyfully baking my creative noodle.
This is so smooth, everything evolves so softly. I couldn't stop saying it's a great pedal. Beautifull demonstration Courtney 👏
This is probably the best use of this pedal!
Easily imagine it in Radiohead's song.
plzzz don't make more Onward videos. My wallet can't stand it 😵💫
No seriously I love your work! keep it up!

On the fence about this one,, she's got a good voice though

Hey. This video made my insomnia rule.
Uh… who’s the 5E D&D player?
Maybe a dumb question...how are we hearing stereo? It looks like she's just using one output.
cba pedals can do trs stereo in and trs stereo out and split it into two ts signals so can do stereo in and out through single inputs
@@Mossic I didn't even know there were cables like that. Thanks for the explanation!

Beautiful video, but you had me at “Instant Eno”! 😊 My Onward arrives Friday 🎉
It is worth the price. I can verify! It’s probably Chase Bliss best pedal yet!
Now do TWO onwards in parallel arranged North South East West ❤
Looking forward to a demo using drum machines with the pedal!!
thats aoways the trick to understand the
algo: sing in it, microcosm next!
Where are folks putting Onward in their pedal chain?
Pretty fly!
This sounds magnificent and is super inspiring. I could easily imagine someone like Feist using it. 👏

I did a short video on my page with onward and with boss gm-800 guitar synthesizer using a bell sound lol.
Everything in its right place. .. 🏔️
Aweeessssssomomomomomomome…i’m glitching with joy!
best onward demo thx Courtney
Haha this is so good! :)

Courtney do you ever worry that leaning into the vocal fry thing is going to fatigue your vocal cords, maybe permanently?
