This song always reminds me of a little girl we had as a patient on the Pediatric ICU. It was the first day of school - 1st grade for her. They got to the bus late & she started running to catch the bus. The driver didn't see her. Somehow she got caught & dragged by the bus. She was flown to us & was in a coma for weeks. This was her favorite song & her Mom played it on repeat EVERY DAY. Nobody minded, we all hoped it would help her regain consciousness. She eventually did. She had a few issues from the accident but every person on the staff rejoiced along with her family. I will always think of her when I hear this song.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. ❤

I'm more of an 80s music guy, but Spin Doctors was one of my favorite bands of the 90s! So glad you tried them! More please! Little Miss Can't Be Wrong and Jimmy Olsen's Blues are great. All are off Pocket Full of Kryptonite, one of my favorite 90s albums. Amber is spot on about the drums--my friend compared their drum & bass work to Rush. Killer rhythm section.

There is no bad song on Pocketful of Kryptonite! Fell in love with Little Miss Can't Be Wrong (especially the music video - a MUST to use for a reaction to that song!), and then... Then I heard this song! This band was pure fun, and this album was HUGE in 1993! Sadly, they struggled to come up with another hit. They had a few songs off the next album that were pretty good, but none that could compare to any of the songs on this album. I believe they kept going through the 90s, then split up for awhile, but have reunited a couple times, over the years. I saw them at a free concert in Pershing Square Park about 5-6 years ago - the city of L.A. hires bands to perform shows on Saturday nights in the summer, and they are a great, fun-filled time, that everyone can enjoy. Anyway, the Spin Doctors sounded as good as ever!

Spin Doctors debuted in 1991 w/ the album 'Pocket full of Kryptonite'... and that record sold 5x platinum w/ massive hits - 'Two princes'... "Little Miss can't be wrong"...and "Jimmy Olsen's blues"... But the band crashed and burned faster than MC Hammer... 😁
The band featured Chris Barron (vocals) and Erik Schenkman (guitar) ... but Schenkman left the band in 1994, just as the Spin Doctors released the album 'Turn it upside down' (which sold platinum) and it failed to score any hit singles... Without Erik Schenkman, the Spin Doctors released 2 more albums, but lacked the songwriting chemistry and were completely forgotten... They went on hiatus by 1999 after Chris Barron suffered vocal paralysis which left him unable to sing briefly.
Barron and Schenkman patched things up and reunited in 2001 as the Spin Doctors and played & recorded sporadically... but have yet to recapture the fame of 'Pocket full of Kryptonite'...

The Spin Doctors were part a small, early. 90s sub-group of "jam bands" like Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews Band, Phish, and Medeski Martin & Wood that offered a more loose-limbed, funky response to to the darker, heavier grunge sound happening simultaneously. A lot of articles around the time were focusing on the "rubbery grooves", but this band, as goofy as their image was, was super-tight- especially the way Aaron Comess absolutely hammers out those shuffle beats.
And speaking of Blues Traveler- their singer/ harmonica player, John Popper, was actually in the original line-up of this band, solely as the harmonica player! (Spin Doctors vocalist Chris Barron was Popper's friend from high school, and joined the band later at Popper's request.)

This is a lot of fun and what's great about the 90's is that there were lots of different styles and genres of music being explored. I feel like there's a whole world yet to discover and it'll be fun seeing your reactions to what remains to be unearthed! If you love the bass you must listen to Morphine, with songs like "Buena" and "Honey White". Great sax and the lead singer/bass player (Mark Sandman - R.I.P.) had his own unique bass guitar rigged up. ❣

I’ve listened to this song hundreds times of times and never understood the lyrics. Back in the days of radio we had no idea what they were saying in songs like this. My friends and I would all sing together but everyone sang different words, and no one cared. I didn’t even know the name of the song or that the word “princes” was in this song until now. Crazy.

Spin doctors are one of my favorite 90s bands/. They were touring beasts for their 1st 3 albums and I saw them at least twice on those tours, plus a handful of time since. Just amazingly fun and happy shows, different setlist every show, talking requests from the crowd, great crowd banter by Chris Barro, who as you can see has a beautiful voice with a unique delivery an amazing vocals, along with Eric Shenkman on guitar, one of the most underrated guitarists out there. He can make it sound like 2 different guitars are playing at once! I met them after shows several times and they are all just so down to Earth, friendly and personable. They have a cult fan following for a reason.

We are in this sea side club one night and this song comes on and just about every woman in the place starts cheering and grooving instantly to this! How could you not like that! Spin Doctors and Blues Traveler both came up together through the NY/Jersey club scene with John Popper actually being a member of the band for a short time. The 2 bands would often play as dual headliners and spend part of their evenings in a big jam session with both bands playing together!
