As soon as you mentioned donations not making it I remembered I had stuff in my backseat. The last 2 times I tried the donation center down the street was closed. Before this video was over I had it dropped off! LOL thanks for a timely reminder!!!

Carla, my car is worst. This is an old video but I ran across it and it resonated with me. My car is a hot mess!! Cups, straw paper, coins, dirt and all kinds of junk. This video has inspired me to do better. Thank you ❤😀
You did great. My car was like yours too. When you’re in the car a lot - you’re tired when you get home. I worked to change habits. Setting a few rules for myself. It worked. My car stays tidy now. I did a similar routine with my purse. Now, it stays clean and tidy too.
🔲My Tips:
✔Always remove items from your car when departing. I often grab trash and put it in the trash can outside the shops I patronize. I don't keep a trash container or bag in the car.
✔Never leave items in plain view in your unattended car. All my purchases go straight to my trunk. In fact the only thing visible in my car would be a water bottle.
✔Friday is my car day. I shake out the floor mats, dust surfaces. I keep a small car duster in my car (center console) and give it a quick dusting when I see dust. I usually add fuel at the end of my errand run on Thursday.
✔Limit the amount of stuff you keep in your car. In my car - items have designated spaces:
- garage opener attached with Velcro inside the sunglasses holder in the roof - along with a pair of clip-on sunglasses.
- umbrellas and flashlight within reach in the door pocket.
- music CDs in CD wallets in my glove box
- tissue, reusable shopping bag, car duster, mints - in the center console compartment.
✔In my car's trunk is a first aid kit and a emergency kit (jumper cables, reflective triangle, etc) -both attached to side walls with Velcro.
✔I also keep 2 pairs of sunglasses in my car for each of my parents. (Age 95.) One pair in center console compartment and the other pair in a compartment in the dash.
✔️I keep a tool in the glove box. It serves as an extra handle assist for my parents and it can also be used to smash a window, cut a seatbelt and has a built in flash light.
✔️I keep a road map in the glove box - in case i travel into areas without cell coverage.
✔We keep a sticker on the upper left corner of the windshield with the date of the last oil change - and the mileage for the next oil change. When my odometer reading indicates I'm close - I plan an oil change.
✔I keep a note in my financial tracker to remind me when my car's inspection/registration is due. (VIN and plate numbers recorded there also.)

Carla, you need a small hand held vacuum cleaner or a stick vacuum cleaner. You could definitely use that in the house for a quick cleanups but it would also work for vacuuming the car carpet and seats. I noticed there was still a little spot here and there of things that needed to be vacuumed up like in the trunk or backseat area.
I often have leaves and small pebbles that get on my shoes, let’s say in the fall, that end up on my car floor in the front which I do not diligently clean up myself. Shame on me.
I think your organization of things that you need and want while driving is great. That really makes for fun spontaneous adventures at the beach etc. Having those things is a great idea.

Love this video! No one ever posts organizing the car and it’s my worst place FOR SURE. One thing that has helped me a bit is actually having a little trash bag hanging off the back of the passenger head rest because I always have trash I need to get rid of. And from personal experience… always good to have a small first aid kit in the console and a roadside emergency supply kit in the trunk! Love your channel! Samson is the sweetest

Love your hair. I have an organizer in my backseat for reusable grocery bags and a plastic bag for trash. Keep a quarter in cup holder for Aldi.

Dear Carla, Love your romper suit. Very cool looking. One habit that I have found that solves clutter in my experience.. simply this; make a habit out of taking everything out of the car when you exit the car. It is amazing how clean one’s car stays.
I love the feeling of a freshly cleaned car inside and out! ✨ Definitely one of my spring/summer habits to officially kick off the end of winter and wash all the salt + dirt away 🙌🏼 Loving how you utilized each space and the organizers you added.

I have to clean out my glove box and the center console. And my car NEEDS a good vacuum and a wash! I'm so happy to see you store your re-useable grocery bags in your trunk. To me it's a no-brainer'! The bags don't take up valuable real estate in my house and I never forget them when I go to the store!
Yes! It’s just remembering to bring them back to the car after I bring them up to the house 😂
Yes on organizers they work wonders to be honest. We have a trash can the foldable ones , a medium size organizer and will have two bags in the back seat with waters and clothes .
The one in the trunk has an emergency triangle that reflects when your car is down, water bottles, blanket, reflective vest, some rope, emergency kit with bandages etc , some stuff for our furbabies and cleaning wipes. The middle console is his glucose machine, gum/mint . And in the glove compartment it has the registration and other documents. Extra flashlight. And we want to keep this one cleaner . I say invest in some floor mats, dog hammock and vacuum so you don’t have to worry about the shedding and also when you spill stuff . Loved the video

I did the same thing to my car last summer. Took me hours! I vacuumed, cleaned stains and wiped down everything. It was like a new car. I’ve done pretty good maintaining. I’m on the east coast so it’s still winter. Once it starts getting warm I will do it again.
I work out of my truck. One thing I have started is putting small trash in the door pocket, and every time I go to get gas, I remove all trash. I open up every door to look for trash and straighten up a little while waiting in gas to pump. It helps a lot.

Pro organizer here. I recommend getting a small car trash bag to hang off the glove box or one that sits by the console and passenger seat. And every time you fill up your car empty out the trash and do a quick organize while you are pumping gas.
I’ll have to search for a car trash bag and see what those look like. Yeah that would be great💕

I'm another Samson fan - I like the way he keeps you in line, LOL! Seriously, don't worry about the people who judge. We've all been there. I've had jobs involving a long commute by car, and when you spend hours in your car travelling around, it does become another room. But now you've put all that work into clearing out the car, getting it cleaned and then putting organisers in it, it will almost certainly never get that way again. You'll probably find 15 minutes once a month will be all you'll ever need to spend keeping it that way, maybe even less.
What I see in this video is not just motivating to me, it's inspiring - a classy woman taking responsibility for sorting her life out so that she can make great things happen. I'm right behind you, Carla, and I'm doing what I can to get there myself. So thanks, it's nice to take a little look into your world and see how organised it's become over the last few weeks and months. It encourages me.

Looks good and we've all had that in our car to some degree. It's best to not leave anything visible in the car, smash and grabs , they think it might be worth something.
Suggestion; when I downsized my purse, I put items in a pouch, it's in the center console. A coupe of safety pins, bandaids, wet wipes, just stuff you may need but don't need to carry daily in a purse.
I have some backup cash in there just in case.
Glad you don't keep your proof of insurance and registration in your vehicle, if car is ever stolen they at least won't have your personal information, address, etc.

Great idea for the center console stash… I add a tide stick to that bag for spills 😅. Yes I always have cash hidden in the car as a back up for if I ever forget my wallet. And the tinted windows have helped with keeping items hidden but it’s definitely not safe for me to have all that stuff in my car.❤️❤️

It’s the car, I am telling you. I had 2016 Honda Civic and it always looked crazy (lived in the NYC metro area)! Now that I am mom, I have a CRV and it’s pretty much clean. The Civic possesses people!…lol

Decision fatigue hits me hard, if I'm tired physically or mentally I'll just dump stuff wherever. Right now I'm purging and de cluttering so that what I do have, has it's own home and I know where that's at. Otherwise girl it's chaos, chaos all around me and in my mind. Give yourself credit you're doing the hard work and it'll pay off. In case no one has told you - great job!

Good rule of thumb, that I’ve stuck by, is just remembering to grab everything out of your car each time you get out of your car to go into your home. I’ve never had to clean my car besides the occasional vacuum. It’s a little habit that will save a ton of time in the long run.
I carry bags back packs baskets whatever it takes to haul it back to the house

Loqi reusable bags are great - they’re huge but fold down small, can be machine washed and carry a lot of weight without ripping. Also you can get them in cute patterns, so they’re small enough to put in your pocket or purse and won’t ruin your lewk.
I also own several jumpers which are so comfy.
0h my goodness! I thought my car and truck were bad, but you have me beat. Just a few things to relocate and both car and truck need swashing, vacuu0 and cleaning. Lots of dog hair to vacuum out. I need to take care of it before it gets hot.

Honda civic life!!! I have a honda civic too :D A honda civic I should also remove the 7 jackets in my backseat + piles of library books
I share my car with my teenager and she treats the car like another locker. We have had to train her to take all her stuff out every night since Cars in our area get broken into frequently so leaving things like backpacks with laptops is not a good idea. We have made a drop off zone for her in the garage so she can easily store/grab her backpack, shoes, sports equipment, etc.
