    Got my first Walkman in 1983. Was 12 yrs old.. Worked all summer mowing yards to buy it. I remember my Grandma was fascinated by "the little speakers" you put on your head. Miss you Grandma W.. and my Walkman

    RV is revitalise, which is some sort of dynamic high end boost from what I can tell.

    Walkmans really transported me in my own world in high school, walking from class to class was like a music video.

    Those later Sony Walkmans had such a way with aesthetics! Very minimal and clean!
    You have so many Walkmans now! And here I only have two... I feel so left behind! :P

      They started looking like minidisc players/recorders very sleek!
      I have a lot lol i'm not going to keep these, you're more sensible :op i'm just keeping a few, then repair and sell the rest.

    I do love walkmen, I have a few myself and I'm always on the lookout for more when I visit thrift stores.
    Recently I bought 40 cassettetapes and a pencil, just to confuse a younger audience in a group I'm a member of on Facebook.
    More than 80% asked me: 'Why the pencil?'
    That was a good laugh :D

    Wow, bubblegum batteries. Haven't seen them for a decade and a half. They were very good for their time!

    Went through so many portable cassette players over the years. Some were dirt cheap, some were rather expensive... Some of the cheap ones actually outlasted the more expensive ones... hahah... But nearly all of them died. I only have one that currently works. Wish I had kept some of the more fancy players; as they had some nice features like equalizers and such. I'm due to start taking apart several cassette players of mine to replace some belts.

    I have one of the Sony ex Walkmans and I had the same problem with the battery sometimes not connecting when I realised it’s because those vapex batteries are slightly slimmer than the Sony ones. I slid paper down one side of the battery to push it slightly and now it connects every time.

    The Hotline button on the Duette seem to be borrowed from the first Sony Walkman which had it too. It's connected to the microphone of the walkman and when you press it you can hear the environment through your headphones while you still hear your music. Like a microphone live feed. Just a gimmicky feature from the early Walkman days.

    very interesting. panasonic made some very good gear. In some ways,more durable than Sony. How you didn't drop a screw with all that laughing is amazing ! :))

    Those Vapex gumstick batteries must be pretty old. I got one exactly like those for my minidisc recorder back in 2005, and it's still unopened (I stuck with the AA battery instead, since despite adding more bulk, it actually lasted quite longer than the gumstick one it came with). The package has gone yellow, and it might actually be leaking beneath the orange covering (your "useless" one kind of looks the same way at one end). I wonder if your bad one was as old as that, and if the one that works better is from a later batch. Guess you can never be too sure with eBay.

    o what the freak. how many walkmans. lol.
    but you were talking about probably the flattest walkman with AA batt. but i think if he still got it, my father had about the smallest sony. with 1 AA batt. behind a small round lever that like the gumstick lever opens as a washingmacine door. i dont know if he still got it. it had a small foldable headphone with the small speakers standing upright in your earshell. i'll go check.
    nice vid. Maddi. thanks.

    Hi Maddi, just say hola to you, it's being a long time since I saw on of your videos, one day UA-cam stop to notify me when you upload a new video, that was because I don´t have the bell activated. Now I checked so you may see me more here (sorry my english). Hasta pronto.

    Hi Nadja I hope you can show how you change the bands. I have an WM-EX618 and downloaded the schematics. Unfortunately I don't know where to start. Thanks.

      in the next episode i'll be repairing the WM-EX610, i'm guessing it's similar inside, hopefully that will give you some idea.

    I have found that sometimes the rechargable batteries are a bit fatter than the alkaline AA/LR6. I have a nail trimmer for my dog that wont accept my NIMH AAs but alkaline ones works fine. Annoying.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  6 років тому

      lol I ended up thinking the LR6 were different to AA beacuse not even non rechargables fit in there! Maybe AA/LR6 batteries were shorter back then!?!

    I am sure you have figured out that LR6 is AA after all.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  6 років тому

      Thanks for the info but what lead me to believe they're different is that they don't fit, not even non rechargables. odd
