Not to undercut you my dude but I think necrotic × synthoceps is the way.. the benefits outweigh the extra melee in charge.

@@xrainmank Yeah so was I haha, especially with Monte Carlo feels so good to lightning surge in and instantly proc Synthos to throw out huge needles at a distance. I threw on a glaive with Close to Melee as well which can do some hilarious damage once you proc that along with the Synthoceps.
For PvE that’s the better roll but for PvP I think Cross’ roll is better.
Does the poison damage ramp up with synthos more than standard necrotic?
i love the fact that the exotic class items open new possibilities to builds even though they have perks not as powerful as their individual exotics
That’s the problem though. They present possibilities but they really don’t take anything to the level of “somewhat broken” as promised

@@kingcurmudgeon8685nah that’s bs, they aren’t all winners but hunters can now do over 1.5 MILLION per grapple punch with snythos. Warlocks can also get instant grenade regen with verity’s and osmiomancy

Like each class has one or two amazing combos folks really don't look around for themselves.
My fellow warlocks should give hoil+claw a try! Doesn’t matter what aspects… What grenade… What melee… if you get used to the rhythm, you basically have transcendent level ability regen nonstop
honestly. i have both & trying them out, the melee poison isn’t really noticeable and if something’s still alive, i’m using a shotgun or fusion rifle. rather just spam the abilities more often
I’m so glad you made a video on this one. It’s the first one I got and I’ve been struggling to build around it. It’s hard to unglue Swarmers from my legs, especially with finally being able to use Phoenix Dive to throw threadlings.
Got necrotic and synthoceps. Its a pretty good combo especially with a glaive and lightning surge.

Just got my necrotic claw last night and I am hyped for my warlock
Necrotic Grips with stareaters scale has also been very fun on the new solar super
Osiomancy with swarmers has also been fun, gives me alot of darkness damage, can use a jolt lightning nade to get it back immediately along with devour as an aspect
spirit of the claw with heart of inmost light has also been fun having constant melees to buff my other abilities regen
I’m DYING to get any class items with Swarmers on it. It’s my main exotic and the fact i can maybe get it with another good perk just means i’ll be playing warlock for a long time.
Unfortunately swarmers don't unravel on the class item. So it feels much worse.
I want a swarmers roll, regular old swarmers on transcendence makes you into the threadling daddy.
@@WiilGrn sorry to rain on your parade, but swarmers on the class items is kinda wasted, it loses the most important part of the exotic imo (threadlings cause unravel)
@@timcal2136 it is important but still very potent. For transcendent focused builds, you'll want to pop tangles to activate the fragment that gives you matching transcendence energy for elemental pickups. And threaded blast makes destroying them with strand damage do tons of damage in a wide area. Since you're already doing that, threadlings spawning from tangles gives you extra dark energy and damage. It's easy enough to unravel enemies on Prismatic anyways. Charged melee kills and arcane needle are super easy requirements.

Just found these last night, and I'm blown away.
I'd be MUCH more interested in Necrotis + Synthos and how much that buffs the damage. You already get 3 lightning surge charges, getting 1 more isn't really helping that much. Dealing +165% damage on groups of enemies however...that most certainly is.
I'm also curious if Synthos allows lightning surge to 1shot groups of enemies in PvP or not because IF it does my god that'll be annoying. I imagine Ophidians + Synthos in PvP could be devastating.
Though honestly without the damage ramp up on the poison I'd probably go with Spirit of the Assassin, Osmiomancy or Inmost Light on Warlock for the first half.
Bruh this is the exact role I’m trying to get and haven’t seen a video on it yet but if the damage from syntho is enough to one shot a group of 3… oh man

been having a blast with synthoceps/innmostlight with the warlock arc melee
I tried to make a Warlock Melee Prismatic build on TFS release. Because when you're transcendent your chain lightning melee is basically infinite. Tried it with Necrotic Grips, tried it with Claws, but it worked best with Felwinters Helm for the weaken debuff. Despite building incredibly heavy into it, One Two Punch, Tractor, Necro Grips/Claws/Felwinters, alongside a number of other things, whatever I tried, it never seemed to do much better against anything higher than a Red Bar enemy. Was pretty fun though.
This was before Class Items were introduced, now I'm not sure if there's a Spirit of Felwinters, but if there is, I'll be trying this build again.
There is not a spirit of felwinter.
Funnily enough, there is one for assassins cowl for every class and one for severnece enclosure for titans though.

I got necrotic/vesper and necrotic/star eater.
Both are really fun builds. Vesper really helps with survivability if adds get to overwhelming. And has been one of my favorites.
I’m going into this for the first time tomorrow. Hoping for the best.

I just got this roll today :D So far, it's the best/most fun roll I've gotten on Warlock thus far (not that my other rolls have been anything spectacular)
I’ve been running a similar build on my warlock, using Felwinters helm with Monte Carlo instead. That debuff and blind feels really good for prismatic
I theory crafted almost this EXACT build before Final Shape even dropped. So happy to see someone else talking about it finally

Something that cross didn't point out (presumably he didn't know) is sometimes the poison from the exotic class necrotic aspect does build in damage overtime, and sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure which controls whether it will or won't, but it makes a huge difference in damage.
Good to know it could possibly be a bug instead of just a gimped version of the effect. Here's hoping Bungie resolves whatever is going on there.
Watched this video, did dual destiny with a friend and this roll dropped. The build slaps, the add clear is insane and the boss damage is still solid with song of fire and the poison procs. I feel like Synthoceps would be disgusting as well since the melee recharges stupid fast already with monte carlo but the second melee charge is nuts with super up.
Lightning surge is so damn fun, always nice to see builds that utilize it

my buddy and i were talking about slide melee and before i saw youre video i made a warlock slide melee build
I got inmost light and vesper which I didn’t think would be as fun as it is but paired with weavers call and devour plus storm grenades you become an add clear monster and the most aggressive warlock on this planet. Rifts kill almost anything within a 2.5 miles and if they don’t die throw an empowered storm grenade at it. Melee is personal preference but I like the snap for single target ignition damage and more close range ad clear. Then to top it off you run a strand primary to help with darkness for transcendence and generate perched threadlings off final blows with weavers. This build lets me have more fun in destiny then I’ve had since d1 and is extremely potent between ability spam and single target damage depending on weapon choices.
I got osmio and verity... it's 1 second storm grenades. It's crazy good. Should try it.

I got a combo i think is really good as well. spirit of Osmiomancy and spirit of verity. One gives a lot of grenade energy and the other boosts grenade damage. Ive built around using it and tessellation for near constant grenade uptime and bonus grenade damage. Pair it with ashes to assets for far more frequent super usage as well
Still grinding for hoil + stareater on mine. But I have been playing with hoil for a bit and it’s a lot of fun with ability spam. Ability uptime is pretty high once I got my rotations down. I use lightning surge with helion and ran vortex grenade.
Although devour feels super nice, I don’t really need it thanks to my armor mods and hoil keeping up with my ability uptime, and phoenix dive being up often helps with survivability. Facet of bravery makes my void weapon have volatile rounds which gives me void over shield with repulsor brace. Facet of dominance helps increase my vortex grenade damage.

I have necrotic + synthoceps. The roll is straight BUSTED and i would happily take it over claws any day

I really think with Phoenix dive you just don’t need devour, if you get a gun with strategist then you will be pumping out a dive whenever you need and Hellion will have near 100% upkeep. So trade godlike survivability for even more free damage with still really good survivability basically.
Man, if you like throwing supers and at every chance you get with insane ability regeneration, I highly recommend Spirit of Apotheosis and Spirit of Harmony, I was able to cast three supers in one minute.
With the Pale Heart origin trait giving super energy and Spirit of Harmony also giving super energy, you get your super back faster than ever

Nearly the same build, except i didn't use Feed the Void anymore (mortar or threadlings). Feed the void i use only in hard content like raids/dungeons.
Also would this build work with the monte carlo bayonet or winter bite?
I'd much rather have necrotic with star eater. Great add clear with great boss damage. It's all you could want

Got this roll as my second class item, since I used claws of ahamkara before it was a great upgrade.

Got my first exotic class item last night with spirit of the necrotic and spirit of the swarm was pretty damn stoked!

For anyone without the perfect class item for this build, the warlords helmet is brilliant with it. Surge kills blind and push back near by enemies and weakens them. Artifact mod gives increased damage to weakened targets.
It isnt just the AE we are missing.... its the dot that amps up over time.... this one just stays the same.
Regarding to DIM's Community Insight from Necrotic Grips:
In PvE, the damage of Poison ramps up every tick with the damage increases compounding together:
• 2nd-14th ticks each deal 3.5585 more damage compared to the one before
• 15th tick deals 9.705 more damage than the 14th
• 16th-19th ticks each deal 14.234 more damage than the one before
Inmost and syntho have been my fave so far. So busted. Always transcendent always chaining poison. Use thorn n a glaive n watch the deaths roll out. Devour to live...oh my!!! Filament n warmers is crazy as well

I’ve got a necrotic with swarmers roll and it’s fun/powerful asf. I really want a necrotic with synthoceps roll though. That and an osmiomancy/star eaters roll.

My best roll (of the many I’ve had, Terrible RNG) is spirit of the stag and spirit of swarmers. It’s so good.

I got my hands on a necrotic + star eaters and oh my it's amazing!
It's a good neutral exotic that I love with arcane needle, but honestly the extra melee charge is a bit overkill. Now normally overkill is better, but I could easily switch out that extra melee charge for something like star eater and get way more benefit. 3 melee charges is more than enough for me.
You could you try a stoicism with inmost light and synthesepts, I think if you pair those 2 with consecration it would be good for dps
This was actually the first combo I got, and I was super disappointed because I just couldn't image it holding up to Getaway Artist or Mataiodoxia. I've rarely been so glad to be proven wrong.

so what happens when you run out of melees?
@@kojeb using Monte Carlo to feed the regen along with mods and artifact you can have a very high uptime on the lightning surge ability. I’ve used it in legend nightfall and new raid and I was clearing every room before my teammates could shoot anything
Something I haven't seen anybody mention yet is that having necrotic on your arcane needle prevents you from getting Devour from your melee at ALL. From my experience, it won't proc whether it's the original strand damage or the poison damage afterwards that actually gets the kill. I'm really hoping this is something bungie can fix, because necrotic is one of my favorite things to use with arcane needle

As much as I like the extra Charge for song of flame (which I've been using since TFS launch and wasn't aware it would apply to it until seeing this vid) and have used base necrotic with Lightning surge, I think I'd agree with other comments that Id rather Synthos or something for a damage buff vs 1 extra melee charge in normal form and to go a step further, I think id rather my base necrotic with the stacking damage vs no stacking but 1 extra charge.
Even numbers wise this makes sense, 30k for the class item version per charge means 120k total for all 4 attacks over around 38s, meaning 3k DPS, base necrotic will do almost 210K in 3/4 of the time at around 28-29s so 7k DPS, that's over double the DPS and almost double the total damage in a short window, (a lot of boss phases are also around 30s so for background damage the 4th melee wont be needed in most cases and I don't see it being worth it in that case)(Also yes I'm aware this is pitiful damage for boss DPS this is just an Example).
There are only a few cases where I would even consider it beating base Necro;
Case 1; normally threaded needle CD is based on remaining charges, 0 charges = 116% base regen, 1 charge =160%, 2 charge 260%, meaning its better to space out the melees and ideally only ever use 1 charge at a time, IF Spirit of claws follows that trend and has even faster regen for getting that 4th charge, then great, you can spam more often without losing charge.
Case 2; You can spam out 4 charges for larger groups/bigger targets, HOWEVER, 1 SL will already kill all trach ads in the area, and spread higher poison to those nearby/that survive, meaning you don need to do a second LS to finish the bigger target/extra ads, you just let the poison do its thing,
Case 3. blowing all 4 charges on 1 target for the burst damage, or, nuking 4 completely different groups in rapid succession, where you don't have time to wait for the regen or get kills with Pugilist//Monte Carlo after which you'd have no charges and take longer to get back to full power.
Case 4. Graverobber - This is actually the only one I'm interested in, as that is 4 auto reloads on demand, at the cost of a bit of poison damage, as if you are using GR (especially during boss DPS) you likely are throwing out the melees fairly quick;y between mag dumps, meaning unless you had a large mag, the normal necro poison wouldn't have ticked up anyway,, and at that's point its not much better than base Claws, given your not using the poison to its full extent, but its still better than no poison.
If your using pugilist/Monte Carlo or something for melee energy, then you don't need the extra charge unless your in Case 3.
SoF I could be convinced otherwise as there is a small amount of downtime while waiting for Grenadge/melee to return, (short enough to fire 1 maybe 2 rocket sidearm shots, but not short enough to fit a phoenix dive in without it overlapping slighty, an extra melee in there might mean pure ability spam during super) So for this, I am very interested.

My best combo is Necrodic ( poison melee ) and Vesper ( arc pulsing rift ), doesn’t really sync the best but improved melee and rift

I've been using this build and it's very good...but I even feel that for END GAME there is a better one, which is using Felwinter's helmet, which can weaken and blind the enemies around you when using your slide.

@Aztecross when testing necrotics synergy with necrochasm, i noticed that spirit of necrotic is kinda iffy on feed the void prismatic. Arcane needle kills without necrotics always grants devour on kill, but it seems when using spirit of necrotic (in my case with star eater spirit) Arcane Needly would only trigger Devour randomly on kill, almost as if the poison on enemy prevents registering the ability kill even if needle kills and not the poison. might be relevant for your comparism.
Its a known issue since a week. Still not fixed :(
Don't have an exotic class item yet, but his build will work well with Nezerec's Sin.
I'm trying to get an Inmost Light/Harmony roll for my Warlock, since I'm currently rocking the Mantle of Battle Harmony while playing Prismatic.
Spirit of osmiomancy and spirit of harmony paired with the "Dealers choice" origin trait weapons of the same element as your super I get my super back in about 10 kills
I found that running just normal felwinter was better for a lightning surge build
Got a inmost light/star eater roll for warlock, supernatural
Been using inmost light syntho with lighting surge arcane hits like a truck pretty much infinite Meele arcane for for single lighting for groups

Without a shadow of a doubt the best Warlock exotic class item for PVE is Osmiomancy + Star Eaters. Good in any level content, in add clear and DPS, and with most perk options

In what build you use it?
Crown of tempest with storm nades. Lightning surge. Arcane needle. Devour. Song of flame. Is so much ability spam. I hope you find this buld and attach the fragments that push it to the next level. Crown of tempest is very slept on for a very aggressive prismatic warlock. Devour and lighning surge go HARD when conduction tines is also running almost maxed at all times.
Sacrifice, Protection, Dominance, Dawn and then either Justice, Courage or Balance as 5th.
Spirit of the claw vs. Spirit if synthoceps. What would be better though?
HOIL x synthos is the best combo across all classes for most builds including this one
