Such small timber tho great set up though guess it adds up plus u don't beat on your machine as bad as big stuff . Seems like if you went threw an took 2/3rd an left a 1/3 rd that you get some big timber growth quickly.

This is in a tree farm and so it's 2nd or 3rd crop rotation. As far as partial harvest (taking 2/3): it really depends. Some species don't like to grow in the shade, and so for them it doesn't work at all. In most scenarios it's more expensive and so in a tree farm you may rarely see it, particularly where the ground is steep. In some cases, though, it can work fairly well and there's several different ways to go about it.

@@tysonfromcanada yeah I know it's all about money . I do residential tree work as a climber so I have a understanding of how things work but logging is a different world. I know leaving trees would make it harder to log an all. As for shade tho these trees are all ready growing in shape look how tight there packed in there lol. But like I said I get why they do what they do it's just I would like to see some big timber lol an I bet taking out 2/3? The competition and leaving all the brush to give the soil nutrients that the remaining 3rd would grow like crazy. Hey have u ever seen how they log over in Asia were there basically make the trees don't cut the trees down but log the tops that way they regrow an bush out it pretty crazy I thought it was kinda cool . An I bet that as a farm situation they probably grow back really fast because the roots and base are established.
