Hi will the moratorium period reduction still apply if i enhance my policy coverage?
the IRDAI official notice says moratorium still applicable in case of PORTING...."The accrued credits gained under the ported and migrated policies shall be counted for the purpose of calculating the Moratorium period."...pls confirm
These are great insights! Should I disclose my family medical history when applying for health insurance? For example, if my parents have a critical, terminal illness, should I disclose that as well? As far as I am concerned, I am in good health
All the pre-existing conditions should definitely be declared when you apply for a health insurance so that during claims you won't have any issues.
@@dittoinsurance family history as well ?
Hi, I would like to thank you for your transparent suggestions and make me to take a term insurance and even I referred my brother where he had health insurance last month both of the things went smooth.
But, when I am planning to take my Health insurance from Ditto, because of my pre existing condition of AVN. Some how things are not moving further and I struck in the middle of the process.
Neither AVN is critical nor terminal but I got reponse from Ditto that sir your policy might rejected if you apply.
Any suggestions from senior executives to deal my case and get an health insurance. Because I want both term and health from Ditto. Its easy for me to track the things and even I can get help from u guys at the time of claim.
Thanks in advance.
You can send an email to complaints@joinditto.in and we will have this checked again.
But maybe I can explain to you how the process works at Ditto. When a customer comes to us and tells us that they have a specific condition, we do a soft check with insurers. This way customers don’t have to fill out a proposal form and wait for weeks to know the insurers decision. So it’s possible the advisor was told by insurers that they will not process your application.
Now as to why they refused. I can only assume. We have seen that even though AVN by itself may not pose major issue, long term steroid use could be seen as a major risk factor. Without knowing your condition fully, it’s hard to make an assessment. But we will check with insurers again if you can send us the email. Hopefully this gives you some clarity
Does moratorium will be applicable to secure and plus benefits of optima secure policy?
Yes it will be applicable for all policies
Is caesarian surgery done 30 years ago a point to disclose? In the Care Supreme Health insurance, my mother said it but the agent did not include it under surgeries.
This shouldn't be an issue.
Does this new rule apply for existing policies as well?
Yes this applies to all policies. New and old !
what happens if i forgot to mention about a condition that was diagnosed 10 years back and did not relapse therafter, and therefore unintentionally missed to mention during taking policy..
and it's been only a few months now since i got the insurance through ditto..
1. should i go ahead and declare now..
2. and what happens if they cancel my policy now..
This will be seen as non disclosure even if it did not relapse. However we will have to see what this condition is first. It doesn’t matter when you were diagnosed with a specific problem. The obligation is to disclose it before buying the policy.
If this condition is a benign (not chronic and long lasting) you don’t have to declare it. However if it is something more serious, then it’s best to declare it. And yes there’s a risk that the insurer may cancel the policy. But atleast you won’t end up paying future premiums for no reason.
Our suggestion is that you speak to your advisor about this if you’ve bought the policy from Ditto.
Sir 5 Years moratorium period working In Port Cases. Shall It starts with zero with new company?
Our understanding is that even if you port the policy the moratorium will continue for a fixed sum insured!
Hii, i am a dependent on my mothers policy , so when i will purchase a separate policy when i reach 30 years will the ped and specific illness waiting period will be continued in the new poilicy or do i have to serve the waiting period again and my another question is that if i purchase a policy and i port my policy after 3, 4 years will the ped and specific illness waiting period will be continued or not ?
You have a provision to separate yourself from the family floater plan and take an individual policy and whatever waiting periods are already served in the existing policy will be carried forward as well.
Hello, I have a health insurance policy in TATA AIG Medicare , before taking health insurance policy i went through a surgery. I disclosed it to agent but it was missed out by him. Now in policy document , in the medical history it is showing 'No' in the undergone surgery . will it create any problem during claim in future?? . i went through surgery in Oct -2021. i took health insurance policy in nov-2022. what should i do now??. kindly advice on this.
Yes, this could potentially create issues at the time of claims.
Our advice is that you disclose the surgery right now and tell you agent to inform the insurance company. If the surgery is trivial, they may simply acknowledge it and not make a fuss about it. However if the condition is more complicated, then they could impose waiting periods, ask for loading or even cancel the policy.
Not disclosing this always carries a risk. It may come back to you at the time of claims and then insurer could deny the claim and cancel your policy leaving you with a lot of wasted premium payments!
How to disclose to the insurance after taking policy (no claim as it's fever/scratch injury) as i don't needed claim on this?
If it’s just a simple fever you don’t need to disclose this. However if it’s a more complicated (chronic) illness, then you can simply write an email to the insurer with your policy number, name and seek an acknowledgment. Alternatively if you’ve bought a policy through Ditto you can tell our advisor and they will take care of this!
Thanks, In the process of buying term insurance from Ditto. Had a good discussion with your advisor
That’s great. Hope you have a great experience buying the plan as well :)
Hi. I am in touch with one of your member. And I am being told that regarding this 5 year period of moratorium period there is still no official notice from insurers you people are associated with. Kindly put some light in it. Thank you.
The official regulation is out which means insurance companies will have to follow. What our team member is probably saying is that insurance companies haven't yet sent a detailed response on how they intend to handle cases like porting while also applying the moratorium period. We are still awaiting some clarity on this and we will have an update soon.
@@dittoinsurance Hi… I am speaking about new policies. For new policies, the moratorium period will be automatically applied as 5 years isnt it?
3 years completed with niva bupa..now ported to icici lombard..25 lakh coverage..I did physical medical with them..report suggests normal...no ped..so for porting cases can u explain abt mortarium period.5 years...
Based on the current reading of the document it seems that the moratorium period will continue even if you port. So in your case you’ve already completed 3 years then you will have to complete another 2 years with the new policy (assuming your coverage was 25 lakhs throughout)
Why did you ported? Is it not good one
What happens to the moratorium if we port the policy to a different company?
The moratorium period will continue. Meaning you don’t have to begin it again !
Just today I wanted to buy a policy from Ditto insurance for my mother and brother while also having insurance from other big online insurance player for me because due to some reason I was not happy with them. But while booking call, the website as well as an agent from ditto told me that I have to wait 6 days just to book a call with your advisors? Seriously?? I was now forced to stick to my old advisor for those 2 new policies. So, I didn't want to but I had to buy those insurance from them. I don't know whether it is my luck or your services has got down.
We are sorry. We are trying to add capacity. I wish there was some way to make it up to you. But if you are still interested in buying the policy or consulting with us let us know and we will figure out something. Just leave an email at complaints@joinditto.in and we will prioritise your request.
If I buy a policy from ditto will I be able to make a claim reimbursement directly to the insurer ?
Yes. You can make a claim intimation directly. However in the event that there are challenges here, you can reach out to Ditto and we will expedite stuff. There’s nothing stopping you from reaching out to the insurer directly however :)
Team there is some serious delays going on with your book a call feature. I went to the website today and the earliest option available to book a call is 26th. You cant keep a person waiting for 6 days for an initial discussion. My father foudnt wait this long due to existing policy lapsing in 12 days and bought from somewhere else.
We are very sorry about this. We are trying to add capacity as best we can. This should get better in the next few weeks!
Hi, 30 minutes call is not enough to clear all doubts and land on a discussion. After our first call, please give a chance to your advisor to schedule another call with us which is more than 30 minutes. This will help us clear all our doubts and make a discussion. Also your website doesn't have an option to compare policies. No option to download T&C, wording documents of a policy. You can't discuss all this in 30 min. Call.
Hello
30 mins call is only the first call. You can schedule multiple follow up calls with the same advisor. Also you do have the option to compare and understand policy terms on our website. Here is the link joinditto.in/health-insurance/compare-plans/
what happens if i forgot to mention about a condition that was diagnosed 10 years back and did not relapse therafter, and therefore unintentionally missed to mention during taking policy..

Avoid paying health insurance premium to policies which restrict pre existing diseases and there is moratorium period.
