Don't forget this is Chris Philp called a liar 14 times by Mick Lynch on Newsnight last year....
And no calling in of m'learned friends... 😐
I saw that. He looked like a weasel with no response.
I will never forget Mick Lynch showing him as a slimy lying B. You would think he would keep his head down, but no not a trace of shame. Do they breed these characters especially to have no shame or honour?
He had no answer to Mick. He sat sweating and looking like he needed beaming up.
Yes...and if it wasn't true, Philp would have sued the ass off Mick Lynch. But, of course, Lynch was speaking the truth.
It wasn't negligent - it was deliberate. They've just been found out.
Bingo.
Yeah, HMRC saying it's careless means they didn't think they could prove it was deliberate, but they could prove that he chose not to get advice or not to follow it. That's what negligence means when you make £30m, what you're supposed to do is chuck a grand or two at a tax accountant and do what they say and then HMRC can't say you were careless because that's the most they expect a non-accountant to do.
Funny how MANY of these politicians have deep family connections to ONE certain religious cult. Ummm
It wasn’t careless, it was careful.
the negligence was the getting found out
This is like having Savile look into Glitters behavior.
Has anyone questioned why Johnson had Sharp & Blyth over for a private dinner during lockdown?
I’d like to take a guess at who didn’t pick up the tab.
Every time I see this guy I feel like I've just been covered in slime.
Perfect comment 👏He is repulsive isn't he🤢
I'm afraid, slime and Tories come together..
You're not alone
me too.................... and this spiv is the policing minister.....
Cracker! 😂
put them in prison
Who ,all of the cabinet, the whole front bench ,zahwi, sunak Johnson ,I agree
Anyone else would already be in prison
'As I Say' in Tory terms means I'M ABOUT TO LIE TO YOU
Brilliant.
Any time a tory opens there mouth, a lie comes out they are incapable of telling a truth
"Innocent until proven guilty", unless you are suspected of social security fraud, then they cut them off until proven Innocent.
Another case of one rule for the Tories, a different rule for the rest 🤬
Trying to take credit for "investigating the crime we've committed because it's the right thing to do" is just hilarious
Morally corrupt!
You couldn’t make it up
I know..they are shameless, corrupt and pathetic in equal measure
Spot on.
I like the line "he's innocent until proven guilty" he's already had to pay the fine so in the eyes of hmrc he is guilty
Tories motto in life "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a question. Dodge, Duck, dip, dive, and dodge"
lie then lie some more.
And grift the plebs
That’s a laugh ,maintain public confidence,I seriously doubt there is any confidence in this government to do anything right
I just got a mental image of Sunak in 2 years time obese on a sofa and stuffing his face with snacks watching Starmer as PM on TV and throwing popcorn at the screen.
Dodgy Dave all over again 😂
"We have fully investigated ourselves and wouldn't you know it, there's nothing to see here..."
Borrowing from the Met Police there...
7:00 We also have a thing called "suspended pending investigation"... Get them ALL out!
LIAR 🤥
Utter tripe yet again 😡. These people should be kicked out of office and immediately tried for the perjury* they are spouting 😡.
* perjury; plural perjuries ~ the offence of wilfully telling an untruth or making a misrepresentation under oath. As representatives of the U.K. Government this is exactly what they are committing.
"I've been assured" = "I've been told what to say, and as a minion, I accept it unreservedly"
" I was just following orders... "
Boris Johnson said he'd been assured no rules were broken in the Downing Street sex and booze parties. He is not a minion.
@@frankshailes3205 Philps is though, and it was him I was referring to... and the other sacrificial lambs sent out to muddy the waters
When the tories come out with the phrase “and that’s the right thing to do” you know their hiding something else.
"Public confidence", I nearly wet my pants
No carelessness , it's criminal ...fraud !
Yes, and if you and I committed fraud, we would have to spend time in prison.
@@jacquelinebailey3637 exactly, one rule for us, no rules for them !
Lester Piggot went to prison for the same thing.Much less dosh involved,as well.
The old playbook in full swing:
1) Lie, double down, deny
2) commission a review, kick into the long grass
3) wait for it to blow over, then months later when the report is commissioned, say ‘it’s time to move on’
Works every time
How on earth is it independent when they decide who to appoint to lead the investigation. Normally a friend of a friend
You can tell when a tory lies, their lips move.
Yup #FACTS
😂
His lying skills are not up to Tory standards so he needs to go on a course.
Mick Lynch called him [Phelps/Whelps] out on it, live on TV, already [X3].
👏👏👏
The Tory standards naturally goes down every year why try when you won every election in the past 13 years?
It's encouraging to see that weasels CAN get elected to the Parliament.
He's demonstrating the correct amount of Tory intelligence to excel.
This plank was a big wheel in the complete horlicks that was Truss' budget. He needs to be well away from power.
“MaintaIn public confidence” - good one.
Boris Johnson didn't need a £800k loan, just needed to stop eating avocado on toast & cancel netflix& he'd be fine
It was for his Starbucks addiction.
Methinks, you have forgotten the private school fees…….for 7 children !!!
Whooosh
@@mikehutchison4892 er…I think the ironic remark which seems to have gone over your head, was referring to the tories accusations about people using foodbanks - unable to budget and needing to stop their Netflix accounts and eating avocados.
Tories shouldn't have kids if they can't afford it.
The dry mouth gives him away 😂 Chris is one of the most belligerent of the current crop of Tory bletherers. 'Independent' seems to be the Tory buzzword for the week😂 That would be the 'independent' advisor hand picked by Sunak, who then reports to Sunak and whose 'advice' Sunak is the final arbiter of 😕
That "independent" ethics advisor who can only launch an ethics investigation when told to by the Prime Minister. Basically only when they get found out! They will hide behind the investigation until it isn't front page and most of the public have forgotten.
Bring back ‘ramping up’
To think we may all have to suffer up to two more years of this nonsense… What an indictment of the whole of the last 12 years of smoke and mirrors that has left this country in such a sorry state.
Politicians: “Well let’s be clear. The Prime Minister has acted swiftly and decisively in handing it over to an “independent” agency who will kick it into the long grass. So what we need to do is wait until such a time when most people will have forgotten about it and we can roll our eyes and tell everyone to move on, even though nothing of substance has changed.”
Yes thats what he's banking on just like the investigation into Raab has been conveniently swept under the carpet !! They are all grubbing around in the same trough and all utterly corrupt !! Allegedly!!!
The smell of this corrupt bunch is now a stench. Department of Environment needs to do something.
Would be a start if they could stop the water companies allowing shit into the rivers and seas.
Priorities.
A classic demonstration of the 'lots of words and none of them addressing the question.' interview style.
Yep, word salad...
He tried to take the people who reported it last year to court to stop them reporting it. How can they say Sunak has integrity when he gave Braverman a job after what she had done. I think it is a bit rich that the policing minister who is happy for you to be arrested if the police 'think' you are going to a protest talks about innocent until proved guilty.
There like robots it's scary how much they lie to themselves and actually think we can't see the truth 😂
"Innocent until proven guilty" you mean like, having to pay a penalty charge for 'carelessly' evading tax by faking your fathers stake in your business?
He can afford an accountant. No excuses.
He was the chancellor of the exchequer, so how on earth can he claim that it was a mistake, the mistake was he got court! Absolute bloody corruption , get them out now, and if you ever vote for them again , you deserve everything that they will do to you , bloody wake up and get rid of these crooks!
He probably doesn’t want to pay for an accountant unless the tax payers can pay for him. Grifters never stop grifting.
Can’t imagine him having been so careless had hmrc owed him?
@@derekibison6644 A TOUCH OF AMNESIA COULD BE A *CLUE * .
Everytime a conservative MP or minister says "we've been clear", "he/she has been clear" or "let me be clear" it usually means they haven't been.
It's been like this since just after the Brexit vote when May started using the phrase.
‘Investigation’ meaning ‘delay as much as we can while we scramble for excuses’
If he is this "careless" with taxes he shouldn't be in government what "careless" things will he be doing there
I'd say that he was careless with The Public Finances, as well. 😐
Ethics and Integrity should never be mentioned in the same sentence as the tories, period
How about "Tories lack ethics and integrity"?
Whenever a politician says "Clearly" you can bet your life, it's not clear!
Ordinary people are suspended from duty while under investigation for improper conduct.
One rule for them, another for the rest of us.
"this is being looked into and this will maintain public confidence", how can you maintain something you haven't got?
My thoughts exactly when I heard the 'maintain' word....
This man has defended every Tory disaster either policy wise or individual behaviour!
Public confidence has gone!
Country is a mess, drain the swamp!
This man defended last PM at every turn!
He would say and do anything to keep his job and maybe get promoted to the next level of lying.
Well done Joe keep on exposing these slimy MPs. Barb
How much do all these investigations cost the taxpayer? I think the individuals involved should foot the bill.
I remain curious as to WHY Bojo needs to raise £800k.
Private education for his spawn maybe? 🤔
He doesn’t need it for his tickets to Ukraine we’re paying for that privilege,I suppose we’ve also paid for truss to go to the US
He had to repay the cost of the redecoration and school fees and maintenance for his sprogs
He's acting selflessly as always, in the nation's best interests. If he hadn't accepted that loan, he'd have been vulnerable to any foreign agent seeking state secrets in return for £800k of gold wallpaper.
That will maintain public confidence!! There is no public confidence. 💩
Love the 'maintain public confidence' line. Public confidence in the government evaporated years ago! now they are seen for the self serving crooks they always were.
When hiring any of the 20,000 police officers would he give them a job in the fraud office if they were under investigation for fraud?
Glad most sane and civilised folk can see through this shambles of a self serving government. I’ve never seen anything like it before.
Or are they?
@@martynaslukas4340 it's better than nothing I guess
the question is: what sane and cyvilized folks can do about it?
I wonder if folks who voted for Boris Johnson's and his Selfservative party
are sane enough to vote for someone else next time? Are they going to vote them out or keep them in power once again?

No , he's a Tory . They just do the same thing over and over , expecting a different outcome . Einstein's definition of a moron .
Politicians are always ‘vey clear’ when they set out their promises….but can’t be clear at all when put on the spot by the media.
Zahawi is the Tory mindset - he just thought he could get away with it - first the tax, then the scandal. Imagine, the chancellor who sets taxes being a tax dodger and under investigation at the time.
The artful dodger.
I don't have to imagine, I just watch the news.
He's swallowing hard before he answers, indicates he knows he's about to tell a fib !
He struggled to get his words out on several occasions. If you were generous you'd presume that Philp was very thirsty, but ........
There are now questions about Rishis connections to a Russian mobster
Can we invite him over ? To break his fac.. make his case , of course .
Chris Philip is about as welcoming as an arsonist on a oil rig
Considering this was Nick Ferrari of all people dealing the gut-punch, you know how bad it's getting for the Tories.
Worryingly, I think it's because NF wants to get his Johnson back.
As long as I live I will never trust a Tory MP- that is the benchmark.
Classic politicians answers - divert, distract, change the subject - give information on a totally different subject to help time the interview out.
Maintain public confidence. He actually said that.
In any other job if you are being investigated for wrong doing the first thing that happens is a suspension.. not in the tory party.
Well said mate👍
This guy knows very little doesn't he, he said it in every interview
"Excuse me, minister, why did you bother turning up if you know nothing about the headline story in the news today?"
This is why he is wheeled out...great at knowing absolutely nothing....
So much integrity !!
I just can't get enough😃
I'm sure they'll be more Integrity coming tomorrow! Yea🥳
Bring down the establishment
Avoid, blame and deny. Tory policy in action.
Can I add distract?
@@derekibison6644 you could add 50 more and we would still be short

The Irony of him saying " There are REAL questions that need to be answered " but he's FAILED to answer any on his TV round LOL Phelps what a Tosser
How you gave these people the keys to your entire society several times over since 2016, I'll never know
It's actually since year 2010 as The Conservatives were majority over Liberals...... too many people voted Tory from year 2010
Historically, too, Tories have had many more years of power than Labour has.
It appears the Brits love a, leader with scandal, negligence, NO integrity, and corruption! ( and I'm a Brit!)
The UK's voting system allows a party with around 40% of the vote (or 30% of the electorate) to take power). Putin would be proud.
Because muppets believed the lies
Newspapers owned by tax avoiding oligarch crooks. TV full of establishment appointees. An establishment controlled by class.
I'm Scottish. We have literally no control over who England keep fucking voting for.
Philp- A weasel for all seasons.
Shit has hit the fan
There’s an endless parade of these integrity vacuums. Where do they find them?
if the PM's 'advisors' didn't know about Zahawi, they're not fit for purpose, did the whip's know...
This guy likes to repeat the phrase 'thats the right thing to do'. Makes me laugh each time he says it
Tell the lie enough and they will start believing it. They hope.
Tories doing “the right thing”. Er, yeah, ok then!!!!
He looks to me like a very slippery snake!
How can you maintain confidence that was lost years ago
Tax affairs shouldn’t be rightly private if you’re a member of parliament - honourable gentlemen 😂
Defending the indefensible! Seems this is all they have time for these days! Give us our say in a GE!
GE definitely but at this rate we are going to have to go down there and take it.
I'm sure that has nothing to do with them hiring as many police as they can ASAP
@@theghostoftom Another untruth not challenged about having the most police ever, they cut 21000 and are hiring 20000.
Sadly we don't seem to have a viable alternative to these gangsters. Mealy-mouthed Starmer with his 'Make Brexit work' mutterings looks like a Boris cover band. Does he not read the polls where most people think that Brexit is a catastrophe?
@@Jazztpt Genuine question, where are the cuts and where are the hires?
We know Sunak like to divert resources to Tory areas, are they doing the same here?
Force a general election. Ever heard of the Arab Spring?
Funny how the Nadhim Zahawi thing only became a serious issue needing investigation when an even more serious issue (with Boris and his dodgy loan) needed coving up
In our normal lives staff are suspended while under investigation.
If we investigate Social Workers, police officers, etc they all have to stand aside.
‘Independent Investigation’ appointment by the prime minister- oh please
Lies about lies, that's all this lot will be remembered for.
Tbf, he was careless to have us pay to HEAT HIS HORSE STABLES, so at least he’s consistent
As one of the interviews makes clear, Zahawi's letting the public think "careless" merely means excusable inattention, when he knows that what HMRC meant by it is much worse, with connotations of less-accidental behaviour. He's been caught red-handed and has resorted to legalistic obfuscation in the hope of getting away with it.
It makes you so angry and helpless when you are struggling
Maintain public confidence 😂😂😂
If Zahawi had to pay a penalty then what is there to investigate - more time wasting, cowardly action, wasting taxpayers money and treating us like idiots. if he was so careless, in his favour, how careless was he with our money, not in our favour??!!
I can’t believe they don’t allow him to investigate himself Surely that’s the Tory way. ? Just leaving him in post to threaten the investigator isn’t good enough.
Marking his own homework yet again.
He must have got the short straw 😂😂! Surprise, surprise, still unable to answer any straightforward questions🤦♀️
They act like it's the end all when they keep saying 'it's right it's investigating ' as if its all OK. The whole lot are bent and they know it .
Tory minister tries to dig upwards, The public say "I think I smell shite!"
For tory minister can we just say criminal in future.
They literally give me anxiety every time one of them talks.
It's the 'right thing to do' to get them out!
Hahahahaha, "that will maintain public confidence".......... hahahahahahaha. Fella, that ship sailed a long long time ago!
I wonder if sometime soon there will be another Minister having to come on morning news programs to explain a misdemeanour by Chris Philp.
This creep has his fingers in many pies. I live in his constituency. Bulldozers smashing down buildings everywhere you look. He has interests in many construction companies. Makes you think...?
I can think of no reason why a person’s tax affairs should continue to be confidential if they’ve already been shown to be improper, and to such an extent that a 30% penalty has been levied.
Especially in his position.
That is the crux of the matter.
Did he use the words ‘ethics’ and ‘integrity’ 😂😂😂 and I thought Monty python was the funniest thing I’ve seen .. 😂
I will admit, this video does make me feel a little sorry for Chris Philp, I bet deep down inside that souless shell of a politician even he is thinking that Zahawi is massively corrupt and the Prime Minister is too shit scared to go back on the deals he made to win the leadership battle to sack anyone. So he is given an impossible task of trying (and failing miserably) to gloss over it, trying his hardest to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear and knows full well not one person is believing a single word of it.
Feeling sorry for him only lasted a second though! They are all liars, cheats and dishonest. They keep calling each other 'my right honourable friend' yet there isn't a shread of honour in the entire building!
Thats because you a critical thinker and have good empathy levels. I would have more respect if I thought that before and after this interview he was talking to other Tories and taking steps to do something about it. It looks like there is no internal discipline and it is only when it is made public that there are investigations. Tories remind me a lot of the Republicans in the US. I think that to remain you have to buy into the corruption or be totally divorced from the average persons struggles. I am sure they would probably say they remain to make things better. How well will a principled person actuallly do in the current party ?
LOL...I can't even feel sorry even for 0.0001sec of my life, these guys are giving the so called African corrupt dictators a run for their money
A principled politician in the UK? They don't excist. And if they do, no-one has and will ever hear of them as they won't get anywhere in politics or within their party with a conscience. No one gets into British Politics to make the world better for other people, just for themselves!
@@fingermau5_ there r honourable ones in Scotland and ones with sense, ideas and r proactive. Infact in little england it is mostly Scots who call out these crimes.
This is how the Tories work though. May and Johnson avoided election debates. Johnson totally avoided cameras as PM as did Truss and Sunak. Truss and Kwarteng literally disappeared after their failure. Sunak wasn't to be seen all summer and Johnson only attended parliament when the queen died.
They totally don't believe in accountability at all
I don't think Starmer is a good interview at all but he at least goes out as leader and leads. He addressed his beer thing on every morning show. So did Rayner. Nadim will not be seen in front of a camera until this has blown over. He'll be hiding in a fridge with his old boss. Because they really think they have nothing to answer for
Resign, Nadim. Use the Braverman clause and you’ll be back at work by Monday.
There are regular reports of various celebrities tax affairs reported, mistakes avoidance schemes and evasion are not kept private!
