Thanks! Been going crazy with my astigmatism. I ordered one right away with your discount code and am super anxious to give it a go! Liked your presentation of the features and really like the short distances pre calculated and presented ... cool feature!
The 50/200 yard battle sight zero is applicable only to 5.56 NATO and .308 Win calibers. The rest of the holds will work with any barrel length and any caliber because range is so short. Bullet paths have very little chance to diverge due to velocity or ballistic coefficient differences at just 5 to 15 yards, so a .22lr point of impact is nearly identical to 9mm or 7.62x39... this is from swampfox website . So when you talk about using this for 300blk and other calibers it's not really true.

I wish they would make a prism 1x the size of a sig romeo 5. Yea yea I know the Lil P is a thing but an 11mm objective lens is really really tiny. 20mm minimum, 25mm is ideal.
@James Smith Interesting idea, but I dont think it'd work for my specific application. This would be on an AK that already has the acss 3x (which is great btw). I have the romeo 5 on a 45 offset mount so its very close to my eye (which i prefer) and i can seemlessly go from 1x to 3x and back without taking my hands off the gun. If the 1x was a small 20mm prism then id have all the ruggedness Id want without a lot of weight. It'd be perfect. If I went with a magnifier then id have to take a hand off to fumble around with it as opposed to just tilting the gun. And having an optic just dangling all willy nilly on a hinge makes me... uneasy (i dunno i feel like id break it off at some point). Also (and sorry if this is a dumb question) are magnifiers just as rugged as prism optics? If not then I cant see why they are even relevant given the relatively recent proliferation of LPVOs.
@James Smith not the same features. the lines are for farther out distances not closer. Even Primary Arms them selves after asking said the reticle will not be applicable for closer distances. I took off my cyclops and put on the blade. WAY nicer for a pistol configuration and larger easier to see reticle too.

Great review. I have severe astigmatism. This is the review that I've been looking for regarding choosing a home defense optic for my AR15 & Mossberg 500!
I use two Vortex Spitfire 1x, a Vortex Spitfire AR, and a Vortex Sparc AR. I prefer the GEN 1 Vortex Spitfire 1x. I actually had to send my Spitfire AR in for replacement under warranty; the dimming illumination button took a crap on me. The replacement Spitfire AR I received did not have a removable base, where my original did. I was pretty bummed, since I had an ADM QD mount on my original Spitfire AR, which is now rendered useless. I have an EXTREMELY severe astigmatism, and my prismatic sights/scopes are nice and sharp, with hardly any detectable bleed, while illuminated. I love having the laser etched reticle as well, just in case the illumination fails; as you cannot co-witness your BUIS, because prismatic sights are a true 1x magnification.
Hey I know this is an old comment but any chance you have used this Swampfox 1x Prism? I just picked up the Vortex 1x and although the glass is great I was wondering how this one compared because is offers shake and bake.

Of course, the American made products are much more expensive as well. As far as I know, this is normal across a lot, if not all industries. If it works, it works. I like stuff that just plain works, and of course passed some sort of testing. I've personally purchased a lot of Chinese made gun parts off of amazon and ebay, and have had very little to no issues. I take precautionary measures like degrease all screws and screw holes with alchohol first before installing with blue locktight. A lot of newbies just slap on parts and expect the sights, mounts, red dots, etc...to hold zero when at the gun range....a lot of "American" manufactures in all industries get a lot of their parts from China to keep their cost down.
So they remade a vortex spitfire 1x, using a cr123 battery vs AAA ? That’s kind of what this appears to be to me. Maybe it’s the new holosun vs sig, 2 = 1 in the same but now it’s swamp fox/vortex lol.
while a neat idea, I think the bullet rise compensators for cqb is little gimmicky. if its that close, its really doesnt matter. point and pull. so what if its 2" low?
@@clarkrp1960 Thanks for the response. I'm very tempted, but I'm unsure about liking the busy reticle. I just got the Holosun and love it, but not perfect with with my eyesight, so I want to try a prism optic.

Great scope. But I can't imagine how this could be useful in close quarters inside a home. Most home self-defense conflicts happen 5 yards or less--not in 10 yard long hallways.
This specific optic is a 1x25 (in other words no magnification) and it’s good for home defense situations because of the holdovers. It’s meant to be a CQB optic not necessarily just for the house but short ranges in general. So you zero it out to 50yds and it has built in holdovers for shorter distances so you don’t have to guess where the bullet will go or adjust your optic every time you come back home from the range or wherever you took it. This would be a good option for a “trunk gun” AR pistol.
It’s perfect bc it’s annoying to sight your AR in at 50 yards then try shooting 15-20 yards, I can never figure out where my shots are supposed to land so I dial my home defense in at 15 or 20 yards then I want to shoot a little further and I have to adjust it again

kersty52 so mike used to work at primary arms, point? Go to the forums and this has been discussed 100’s of times. Mike even says he used to work for primary arms but left them to go work for swamp fox. If there is a link oh well.
Quick acquisition, incoming bad guy 10 feet away, "hold on just a sec bub, let me do the math conversions and figure out which random area of this hieroglyphic reticle I'm supposed to use to shoot at you".
That’s kinda the whole point of the hold overs…. So there is no “math conversion” or guessing. Besides, at 10ft he’s already closer than all the hold overs at that point, just point and shoot. The hold overs are in yards.
Well it’s no Aimpoint T2 but for those of us with astigmatism this is a great option. Do you know if this is made in the USA or China like the pro, army arms ones? Are there any 1 or 2x magnification prism optics that are made in the USA besides the Trijicon TA44 (and variants thereof)?
Not bad looking but I don't think you would user the bullet rise compensator at close range, it's more likely that you would aim fast with circle than to take the time for a more precision shot at 5 or even 25 yards, the bullet impact difference in a self defense situation against a human or most animals at that distance would not be enough to warrant taking any extra time in aiming than necessary.
Such a shame. I wish we'd have an import ban on Chinese made crap in general - get "MADE IN AMERICA" seen on more things, especially in the gun industry.
Competition helps develop new ideas and lower prices. It's healthy capitalism. These products are developed in US, just outsourced to china etc. I hope they have good quality control because I just bought one.
OK forgive me but I am fairly new here. Now, I don't know if you have any kind of military background. So when I took Basic Training or AIT as it's been 40+ yrs. ago. 10-24-72. When we did night shooting we were given a black wooden stick with a tiny hole drilled in one end to fit over our front sight and would set on our back sight. Real close tolerance for a wooden stick. It was there so we would not try and aim at a target at night especially at close quarters. Point and shoot on rapid pop up targets. No time to aim. Yeah I think I would bypass the under $300 optic and go with my training. If people don't have the training maybe the optic. Does anybody ever think of real life scenarios? Maybe your good but you had to go piss and your wife can get to the weapon faster than you, trying to find an assailant in a small scope when she is now pissing down her leg and scared to death. Just a thought to ponder. Really like your channel. Out!!
I have an AR pistol and think this would be the perfect optic for it my question is in reference to eye relief would you recommend this or the trihawk for it I'm going to be using it for home defense and target shooting I have perfect vision thanks in advance for your input
Do you have an astigmatism? I bought the same optic and it was super blurry ( I know they are supposed to be pixelated but for that much money i'm not going to have some super blurred reticle ) I returned it. Bought the cyclopse 1x and us a gg&g mount that allows me to have room to put my Iron sight under it. You can see a pic of it on my IG at lefthand_556 . I wished this used T1 mounts. The holosun 512C is the best Red dot i've looked through with having an astigmatism.
No. The EXPS-3 is far superior. When using, do not focus on the reticle. Focus on the target. I have an astigmatism & it works just fine. Also, buy a 3x magnifier. I have the Eotech G33, but I hear the Vortex 3x is good too. Under magnification, the EoTech reticle is crisp. And when you don’t need it, flip it to the side. Great set up.
Is there any difference with night/dark use? Ss the etched reticle only an upgrade for people with astigmatism if you have the red dot off? or does the etched reticle help when you have it on?
@@1888CHAD8881 yes, at 25yards it will be 1” low. This is why people who only have access to a 25yd range can still do a 50yd zero - they just zero 1” low @ 25yds. Of course if your only using for home defense you can zero at your furthest distance inside the home. Ideally you do a 50 yd zero and know to adjust accordingly (head shots close you aim at the hairline)...etc.
@@1888CHAD8881 usually a couple inches. Roughly, the same amount the center of your sight objective is over the bore. Just aim at the base of the neck for a chest hit.
Take a rifle that is sighted in at 100 yards or further. Walk up to a paper target, aim and take a few shots from 10 yards. All of your hits will be below your point of aim.
Just don’t drop it! I was taking off one rifle to put on another I dropped it about chest high onto the ground kind of on the lens ring . And it shattered. They replaced it no questions asked but I cannot believe this thing shattered like it did . It’s so damn heavy I never thought it would break but it was very delicate and I mean shattered into pieces. so it sits in a box I don’t even use it.
Because finding an illuminated dot or circle on a singular focal plane with both eyes open is faster than lining up a rear and front sight in the same situation.
Thanks, I have been looking for a quality Green Dot sight. I will be picking this up ! But I must say I don't think at in home range less than 10' you will be aiming or deciding which "aim point" to use
If the reticle is turned on, it will automatically turn off and back on at the slightest bump. Auto on/auto off is the default setting. To turn it off, you hold down on the dim button for a few seconds and it’ll stay off until you turn the brightness up.
I don’t see the benefit of a 1x prism over a red dot. I have a Sig Romeo4 dr, a Romeo 5 xdr, and a Romeo 5 opmod.. all have the dot/ dot and ring options and have been great. The eye relief is great and the reticles super clear. All were at the $200 mark
If you don't have an astigmatism, then there isn't really an advantage. For those of us with the distortion that astigmatism causes to red dots, the prism is great.
Had I of seen this a couple months ago I wouldn’t of got my sightmark wolfhound this looks way more small my wolfhound is super long and gets in the way of my charging handle
Swampfox even agrees. They know in real world scenario that it’s unlikely to have time to use the hold overs. BUT they also believe that it’s better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
Mike R Aiming for the center of mass of the body, the site offset really wouldn’t matter. That said, at the close range you would be inside of a home, I would go for a shot that would switch the threat off like a switch. Thankfully, I’ve had no need to try that yet, and I hope I never do.

Any luck?
Sure looks a bit similar to the Primary arms Cyclops in basic size and form factor... wouldn't be shocked if they shared same OEM
They don’t. Swampfox owns their factory and has nothing to do with primary arms.
@@brandonmiller8965 ...according to swampfox optics
Brandon Miller except Mike, the guy who designed these, is the former guy from Primary Arms...so their is a link.
kersty52 so mike used to work at primary arms, point? Go to the forums and this has been discussed 100’s of times. Mike even says he used to work for primary arms but left them to go work for swamp fox.
If there is a link oh well.
Brandon Miller r u saying these are US made?
Quick acquisition, incoming bad guy 10 feet away, "hold on just a sec bub, let me do the math conversions and figure out which random area of this hieroglyphic reticle I'm supposed to use to shoot at you".
That’s kinda the whole point of the hold overs…. So there is no “math conversion” or guessing. Besides, at 10ft he’s already closer than all the hold overs at that point, just point and shoot. The hold overs are in yards.
Could this be used with a magnifier?
Wondering how it would work with a 9 mm PCC and where would you have to sight it in at
Probably not too good.
Numerous videos out there of guys using it on 9mm builds. Reticle lines up pretty good on 9mm ar’s
The video quality has always been good. Gucci is not needed.
I can't really tell 100%, but the reticle looks very small in the video
What is the size of the reticle in use is it a more elaborate red dot at 50 yards?
Well it’s no Aimpoint T2 but for those of us with astigmatism this is a great option. Do you know if this is made in the USA or China like the pro, army arms ones? Are there any 1 or 2x magnification prism optics that are made in the USA besides the Trijicon TA44 (and variants thereof)?
They are made in China. But I’d say they are on par with the other decent optics made in China like Vortex, Holoson, and Primary Arms.
Can you put this on a Zastava AK-47 side mount
Not bad looking but I don't think you would user the bullet rise compensator at close range, it's more likely that you would aim fast with circle than to take the time for a more precision shot at 5 or even 25 yards, the bullet impact difference in a self defense situation against a human or most animals at that distance would not be enough to warrant taking any extra time in aiming than necessary.
Digging the new intro music man!
Nice review. Can this take the shock of a 308 win pistol? Any compatible co- witness risers available?
Have you compared this to Primary Arms prism scopes?
Is there a reliable CR123 battery ? I need some but I'm here all kinds of dead battery issues .
What about putting a magnifier behind it??
Its good that the American gun market is becomin' saturated with chinese-made budget dots.
At least we don’t have shitty Chinese firearms to deal with.
Such a shame. I wish we'd have an import ban on Chinese made crap in general - get "MADE IN AMERICA" seen on more things, especially in the gun industry.
China aks are some of the best
Yep! its the best if you like Parallax until you get past 100 yards, maybe not for home protection.CQB maybe not.
I'm definitely gonna look into this for my db15
I purchased an Eotech exps3 for my LWRC AR. Should I return it and go with this?
Do you have an astigmatism? I bought the same optic and it was super blurry ( I know they are supposed to be pixelated but for that much money i'm not going to have some super blurred reticle ) I returned it. Bought the cyclopse 1x and us a gg&g mount that allows me to have room to put my Iron sight under it. You can see a pic of it on my IG at lefthand_556 . I wished this used T1 mounts. The holosun 512C is the best Red dot i've looked through with having an astigmatism.
James Smith Swampfox is 100% American and Veteran Owned
Can this be paired with a magnifier?
Not familiar with prism but very familiar with astigmatism
Any luck
Is there any difference with night/dark use? Ss the etched reticle only an upgrade for people with astigmatism if you have the red dot off? or does the etched reticle help when you have it on?
Ordered a primary arms gen 3. 3x
Does a zeroed red dot shoot higher or lower at close range?
If zeroed @ 50 it will shoot lower the further in you go...just due to height over bore axis. Typically 50 yd zero is good out to 200yds.
@@derek3154 So a shot at 20 yards would be a little low with a 50 yard zero? thank dude
It would have been nice to have a QD mount. Holosun has them included.
They’d like to be everyone has patents on current qd offerings so they’d have to engineer their own design
How much does it weight ? Thanks
Which do you prefer between the blade vs HS510C for an AR9 ?
Dailyshooter So your recommending this for people who wear glasses over a single power reddot??
Wear
Explain this reticle. Seems to me to up close mark should be above center.
I am assuming they flipped the prism display upside down and that would maybe make it work under rather than over. But not sure.
Take a rifle that is sighted in at 100 yards or further. Walk up to a paper target, aim and take a few shots from 10 yards. All of your hits will be below your point of aim.
@@TacticalCowboy89 I know this. That's why I asked. The previous responders answer makes sense.
Does this one come in both colors or Just one ?
Why would you use any optic for HD as they will all limit field of view?
Because finding an illuminated dot or circle on a singular focal plane with both eyes open is faster than lining up a rear and front sight in the same situation.
Thanks, I have been looking for a quality Green Dot sight. I will be picking this up ! But I must say I don't think at in home range less than 10' you will be aiming or deciding which "aim point" to use
E intentado comprar la marca swamp fox pero no envían a Puerto Rico
Will this cowitness with a a2 front sight?
No reason, even without batteries the reticle is visible
...don't like a red dot? ...get a blue dot. Works for me. My quick-release co-witnessing sight has both, with a green laser too
How do you turn the auto on settings on
If the reticle is turned on, it will automatically turn off and back on at the slightest bump. Auto on/auto off is the default setting. To turn it off, you hold down on the dim button for a few seconds and it’ll stay off until you turn the brightness up.
Does it share mounting options with anything? Prefer to use a QD if possible
No everyone has patents on current qd offerings so that’s why they’re not able to offer it without engineering their own design.
I need me the link to this red dot ASAP
Google Swampfox optics
Swampfox Blade
www.swampfoxoptics.com/
I don’t see the benefit of a 1x prism over a red dot. I have a Sig Romeo4 dr, a Romeo 5 xdr, and a Romeo 5 opmod.. all have the dot/ dot and ring options and have been great. The eye relief is great and the reticles super clear. All were at the $200 mark
1x prism may be a better optic than red dot for people with astigmatism. Google it.
Are these made in the states or China?
American owned factory in China. Most optics have components that are made overseas, and are just assembled in the US.
Putting this on my pc9
Why not use AA battery 🔋?
Lithium "coin" battery lasts longer.
Coupon code expired. =(
Real bits of Panther
The reticle seems too busy. I prefer a simple dot and I am used to compensating for close range los/lof offset.
Swampfox even agrees. They know in real world scenario that it’s unlikely to have time to use the hold overs. BUT they also believe that it’s better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.
At most home defense ranges, unless you're Bill Gates....just put the dot @ the base of the neck....good to go.
Mike R LOS is only 2.6 inches above LOF on an AR, so I would aim a little bit higher, bottom of the nose to put it between the eyes.
@@jcnikoley I was assuming that in most defense situations one aims at center mass, or, center chest.
Mike R Aiming for the center of mass of the body, the site offset really wouldn’t matter. That said, at the close range you would be inside of a home, I would go for a shot that would switch the threat off like a switch. Thankfully, I’ve had no need to try that yet, and I hope I never do.
Better then that Holosun you reviewed a year ago
Can you use this with a magnifier such as a Holosun HM3X?
It wont work
@@TheInfekt Thank you.
New Discount Code is “TDS15”
Can I put this on a bullpup shotgun
Is it the best cuz they paid more to have a video made...
So.... is the Holosun HS510C no longer your “favorite” optic for astigmatism? I’m confused 😐
That is very sweet love that
