      Nike has great shoes for the racing. Vaporfly and alphafly. And crap shoes for all the rest of the spectum. Crap stability ones. Pegasus is ages behing offerings from other brands as daily trainer. Etc. etc.
      I am glad you can run in those. I have wide feet.. and the geniuses from Nike do not offer wide option.

    Another great video Ben! I’m looking forward to buying a pair of the Alphafly 3s for my Birthday in April in preparation for my Road Half-Marathon in November 2024. I ran my last Half-Marathon in the Vaporfly 3s and in retrospect I didn’t use them enough pre-race due to worries about durability. Excited to see how the Alphafly 3s perform!

    Ok, when describing the wear and tear of the shoes. Maybe do some closer videos of the shoes and edit that shot so that we can see it, not that we don’t trust you, but I think we could perfectly see what you are describing on the shoe. Investing in super shoes is not easy for everyone and seeing things up close makes some people second guess their choices. Thanks Ben, good explanation. 👍🏼

    I have had great experience with the vaporfly and alphafly shoes as to mileage and race results. I am a neutral forefoot/midfoot striker, so the pods on the alphafly are well suited for me. Hence, I prefer the alphafly for long distances. I agree as to the arch hot spots. My arches seemed to toughen up, so the arch issue went away. I look forward to getting version 3. Both shoes really save the legs for the last few miles of marathons.

    As a teacher and non elite marathon runners who logs around 200 miles per month, having shoes that are a good investment is really important. How do you feel about this shoe as a racer for a certain number of marathons, and then it turns into a long run shoe??

    • @benjohnson763
      @benjohnson763  Рік тому +2

      At least based on what I've seen it could do many, many races before I'd retire it to a long run only shoe. 👍

    • @dorins3787
      @dorins3787 Рік тому

      You retire a shoe because the foam losses its properties or other parts of the shoe get destroyed. For example the outsole gets ripped or the air pods explode.
      If you use the shoe for long runs with the foam becoming rigid, you risk injury because it will no longer protect you. It is like using a medicine after expiration date - you could die or get intoxicated. This applies to all shoes, not only Nike.
      So: after you retire a shoe, you can use it for walks or in the garden to help plant the flowers. Maybe not those Nike for the garden part as the air unit might get cut.
      Do NOT use them for long runs

    This was a botched release. Not even considering Nike's inability/unwillingness to sell to actual runners rather than scalpers, but from Nike's side too. They could easily mark the proto colorway of this shoe up to $400 and it would still sell out fast. They're losing hundreds of dollars per pair by not doing this.
    Further, their next release isn't until 4/4 here in the US?! They are offering it at the end of Feb for UK. To add another slap in the face, the next colorway is a total JOKE. There's a reason why Nike had a terrible earnings report a few weeks ago. They've lost it.
