I have flown over Sedona, Troon North, Scottsdale, Gilbert AZ Mesa into PHX on a my private plane with the Airshow Map. It was amazing it showed small towns such as Cambelback East Village and sights such as Phoenix Sonoran Desert Reserve on the final approach. I have setup my Airshow Map to show the small towns.
Are those displays on the Airbuses little CRT monitors? Cause you can see them refreshing on the camera. Probably only on the A320s made in the 90s and 80s.
Awesome video! My question is at what point after touching down do you step on the brakes? Surely the speed brakes would slow you down at first and then you brake, right? And how long does atc give you to land once you are cleared? Because this is a busy airport and many planes have to land one would think you have x amount of time to land before they clear another flight, right? Or if they clear multiple flights how do you know who goes first?
chrisz71 Pretty much, just depends on how fast you need to stop. If it's a long runway and no one is behind you, I barely use the brakes. On a short runway like Orange County KSNA, we set an automatic braking system to "Medium", which is fairly aggressive and a second or so after touchdown it engages the brakes. ATC doesn't give a "time to land", they already know your speed and ensure the proper spacing (most of the time anyway) with other aircraft that are in front of you, and also if they clear an aircraft to takeoff before you land on that runway. It's a pretty well timed "dance".
sounds pretty interesting,Thanks for the reply. I'm still getting over my fear of flying that kept me from flying for a decade. I've flown dozens of times but I'm still bothered by it. Go figure.
EAGUL5 RNAV arrival runway 8 transition? Kinda hard to tell where you guys came from but it looks like you were on a left pattern which looks like you came from the east.
Awesome! My ATC training is coming in handy! Please keep up the videos! There was 2 channels last year, one was of a 777 pilot and another an A380 pilot and they both removed their channel due to hate. So if you start getting hate, please just either disable comments or make it so you can approve or disapprove comments. I love seeing the flights from the pilots perspective and not the ATC perspective, and especially from my home airport (I live in PHX)
@@AirbusPilotMarkHow long are upgrade times looking currently on the Airbus fleet in ORD? Also…how long would it take to hold 787 FO up there? Thanks man
Still flying, but the FAA has ruled that filming in the flight deck can get you in trouble. And I don't like trouble. But, we'll see. Thanks for asking.
This is fantastic , however, non essential activity to the safety of the flight below 10,000 feet comes to play here. I’m pretty sure AA would frown heavily on this. I certainly don’t want you to get in trouble or even a violation. Just food for thought.
This video was filmed over 7 years ago, prior to the merger with AA. Other than brief idle chit chat at the beginning, there was no violation of company policy at the prior airline. Since then, there have been additions to company policy that discourages filming, and that’s why I’ve stopped posting videos. It’s unfortunate.
I can't speak for large airliners, but on the smaller planes I fly we extend the gear during our landing checklist 1 mile before the final approach fix for instrument approaches or as we are entering the VFR pattern at the airport when we aren't VFR. Airliners usually do longer approaches so they probably put the gear down a few miles before they descend on final approach.
Butter! You know it's a smooth landing when the radio altimeter calls out 5 feet.
Superb view of my favourite city. Thanks for filming.
@Darren Krock it's my favorite too
So cool to watch the landing via the pilots eyes! I was always a little jealous of the pilots as a flight attendant; the view never gets old, I bet!
Too cool! Great view of downtown and Chase Field on the way in. Loved it!
What a great smooth landing at PHX !
"Cactus 454" = US airways = Favorite Airline!
Excellent quality/view and smooth landing
Nothing like being blinded by the Phoenix sun while trying to land a jet.

I love Airbus so much!
for some Reason I take pretty good joy watching these videos
Cool !! Thanks for the video . And I work at Sky Harbor ,but its nice to view the Airport from a different angle . Thanks
Very cool to see! Thanks for sharing!
Great video. Always love to see the view from the cockpit.
Cool video. Very quiet 320 cockpit couldn't hear the engines at all. How did you use your GoPro, did you strap it to you head?
Very cool video! Thanks for posting it.
Excellent video! More please!
Love this video thank you for posting. :)
How cool is this video love it and wow
sweet video. Thanks for sharing.
very nice you guys are the best...
Very cool!
Awesome video!! Just hope you don't get in trouble for filming and posting.
dude the captain let it
Great video! I guess 'cactus' will be a callsign of the past in a near future...
I hate how the FAA said he cant film in the cockpit, I love your videos! Is this US Airways? If so are you with American now or with another airline?
Yep, but not fired, lol.
Really cool!
I tip my hat to these guys I would be fucking scared as shit 😂
Phoenix, Aridzona a great place to be FROM!

Love it, thanks for uploading! Nice landing too :)
Great image quality. What camera model do you use?
I take it from some of these vids you might be a west pilot? Are you based in PHX?
lol i can’t wait for this to be me (except i wanna fly the A321neo)
Awesome video!

kinda random to say but I like to see planes pass on sierra and tango
Mark how do you like flying the Airbus? Do you perder it over a Boeing?
I like flying the Airbus because it has a side stick instead of a "truck" yoke (Boeing), andit has a much larger flight deck than the 737.
is the instrument panel blinking cuz of the camera, or was it actually blinking?
its because of the camera
I'm glad pilots know what they're doing cause all those buttons look too confusing
I have one question.
Why do the displays always flash on video but dont in real life.
+the true gaming life I think it has something to do with the Displays they use, at I dont think it picks up on camera that well.
Just a guess.
Its the refresh rate of the monitors.
Are you uploading anymore videos of a flight
fly by wire much?
Cooooooool
Do the spoilers activate automatically on the A321 ?
If they are armed they will on pretty much any plane.
Sometimes they don’t deploy and you have to do it manually.
SWEET
Hey, still at AA? Got some questions for ya
What’s up?
@@AirbusPilotMarkHow long are upgrade times looking currently on the Airbus fleet in ORD? Also…how long would it take to hold 787 FO up there?

@@AsNetwork the Airbus isn’t currently based in ORD, AFAIK. Sorry, not sure about 787 FO upgrades, though I’d guess less than 5 years.
Oops, I didn’t mean to say 787 “upgrades”, but to hold just the right seat on the 787 is probably around 5 years.
So no more flight deck filming?
The company and FAA have stated NO. Not sure how well my hearing is, though. Lol
Great video! Do you ever fly into Syracuse, New York?
wonder what happened to AirbusPilotMark

how do you know when to extend the landing gear?
I can't speak for large airliners, but on the smaller planes I fly we extend the gear during our landing checklist 1 mile before the final approach fix for instrument approaches or as we are entering the VFR pattern at the airport when we aren't VFR. Airliners usually do longer approaches so they probably put the gear down a few miles before they descend on final approach.
Often depends on the airline. Around 2500 - 2000 ft above ground is common to drop your gear with the airliners.
I know a few AWE pilot all FOs
Airbus not having proper flight controls is just lame.
I just saw my house
