Sam is pretty spot on. I got my ST100 a few years ago when it was originally marketed as a "brush cutter." Well, it's definitely not that, but it does work great on tall grass and weeds and so much easier than a handheld. I will say that, in heavier foliage, it will blow through a LOT of string. To save money I recommend skipping the overpriced pre-cut string and just get a spool of heavy duty .155 line and spend a few minutes cutting it yourself. Works just the same. Still hoping someone will come up with an adapter to convert it to a flail or blade so it can handle real brush
Thank you! I should do an update on that trimmer. I did really like it, but now I can't get it to start and it's beyond my knowledge to take it apart to get it running again. Maybe I'll take it to someone because it was very handy 🤠👍
Thanks a lot Sam! I have a DR field and brush mower great for open areas but no good for trimming. Something else I just have to have! Congratulations on the subscribers great things ahead!
@@samsdoinstuff agree, the wheeled trimmer will have control with the two wheels on the ground versus a hand held line trimmer with no resistance from a bump on the ground.
Ive had mine for 3 years now. Used it yesterday. Works really well. Starts in 1-2 pulls. Most Important. NEVER USE GASOLINE IN THIS MOWER. ETHANOL WILL CLOG THE CARB IN JUST A FEW TANKFULLS ! Buy the NON-ETHANOL 4 cycle fuel from Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, or WallyMart.
This is as about as close to my Husqvarna that I love love loved unfortunately it was discontinued by the company I’ve been looking for a replacement I think I’m going to try this one
Be absolutely sure you only use ethanol free gas! The carburetor clogs very easily. I need to get mine fixed. Other than that, when it's running, it's great 🤠👍
I remember looking at those grubbers, just thought they were kinda pricey and ended up using a chain and choking it around the tree. You think its worth it for them? I do like the idea of it.
I don't remember what I paid for mine but I'm sure the price has gone up. A chain will tend to slide up and off rather than grip. A tow strap works pretty well but it messes up the strap pretty quickly. I've seen some choker chains that have spikes on them too. There's definitely a sweet spot for the grubber I have. It handles stuff around 2"-4" with ease.
@@samsdoinstuff they've went up almost 30% in the last few years. A chain can work if you can get it wrapped right. It just doesn't seem near as quick and easy as this, of course. Thanks for the info!
I just checked my order info on Amazon.com. I paid $49.95 for it back in 2019!!! It's listed for $104.55 right now!!! That's 110% increase in 3 years, smh.
@@samsdoinstuff oh wow. I watched a video from 2018 and the guy said he paid 75 for the heavy duty bg-08. Either way, craziness.. guess should've picked one up back then LOL.
They are all made by MTD. "Over the years, MTD acquired the Troy-Bilt, Bolens, Cub Cadet, Craftsman (owned by its minority partner), and Yard-Man brands and/or companies."

Nice machine ! The right tool for the right job I always say 👍 Congrat’s on the 500+ 👏

Congrat's on 505 subs Keep it up!!! Your channel is going to be HUGE!!!!😁👍
We bought one of these machines to do one job, cut grass around trees. I hope it works better than hand held brush cutters. I think it will.
I think it does. The best part is the control you have that you don't get with a hand held trimmer. 👍

Thank you very much! That's probably why mine won't start now. I'll have to have the carburetor cleaned and follow your advice from now on 🤠👍

Thanks for the video. Do you know what type of air filter this thing takes?

Can you put a blade on it
I would not recommend it 🤠👍
You better buy a craftsman this brand is junk.
You're absolutely right. It won't start. Just sits in the barn. Maybe I should do an update?
