Just lost my older brother today. This song is helping me cope. I hope that Home Free knows how much good they do in the world. It is much more than just singing! You guys helped me grieve today and have kept many people sane during the pandemic. You may never see this, but thank you from the bottom of my heart.
GOD BLESS YOU!
I know that it's been 5 months brother. But I hope things are going better for you. My prayers are with you. And like you I've recently lost two. My father left to be with God in late January, and my wife of 6 years left to be with God in late May. Home Free is one of the groups that has helped me to get through this as well.
My condolences on the loss of your loved ones. Take it a moment at a time. These talented singers can elicit so many varied emotions. God put them here to share this gift of healing with us during difficult times, covid, and world craziness. My prayers are with you. Enjoy the beauty too and know that we will see our loved ones again someday.
GOD BLESS
Sorry for your loss. It's tough loosing a sibling. I lost my sister in '03, she was 18. I think about her dang near daily. Cherish the great memories y'all had together. Talk about him every chance you can & get. It's probably still tough... it'll never go away BUT it will get easier.
A group that can sing like this does not need musical instruments.
Their voices are their instruments ‼️💖‼️
@@joanwharff6483 Amen!
First saw Home Free in Cincinnati 3 years ago, coming back in Nov., can hardly wait! My most favorite group!
Still waiting for them to do Canon in D, -- if ANY accepella group can pull it off, it's these guys.
5/9/23 I agree 1000% and then some. Expertly done. Thank. I didn’t think people sang like that anymore. You can also understand what they are saying ❤🎉😊
anyone else wishing that UA-cam had an option to like a song more than once?
100%
Yep 👍
We need a I love it button for the home fries
Yep definitely 100% or at least a 💜
I lost my younger sister to brain cancer this week. I have been listening to this so she found her way home where there is no more pain. She was only 58 and traded her pain for her Heavenly Angel Wings. I feel broken but also relieved. 🦋💕🙏💔🌹🇦🇺
Bless you
I bet Vince Gill is so proud that his song has touched so many lives.
Why wouldn't he be? Love Vince Gill, also love Home Free!
We played it at my father in law funeral
If that doesn’t touch you you might be a liberal
Not Vince Gill’s song but he definitely made it famous lol
@@jeremygoff9868 you are wrong.
He said he wrote it. He started and stopped then he had another death in his family and finished writing it
If this isn't played at my funeral, I'm haunting everyone.
I hear you! I love Home Free's version!
Lol gotta agree with that statement
😁
Just told my wife to play this at mine. Praise God
I've had many health scares over the last 10 yrs--tried to check at 4 times. So, I made a list of songs for my funeral. Upgrading my list This AM with this rendition. Still kicking one step at a time!
I had the Vince Gill rendition of this done at my husband’s funeral. It’s a testament to his life.
Hello there Louise nice meeting you here
My sister just passed, it doesn't feel real yet. I need to cry, so I came here.😢😢
I love Home Free! Very under rated! It kinda pisses me off that they don't get the respect they deserve!! Best Country Group out there, right now!
They’re as good or better than Pentatonix
Gidster1 I agree. PTX is the best at the genre they cover. Home Free is the best at they’re genre. Compared side by side, they both set bar for acappella music. Home Free’s harmonies are definitely better in my opinion though.
Dennis Johnson ya I always love listening to Home Free more than ptx. Their only songs I like are Daft Punk, Love Again, and Hallelujah, while I love all of Home Free’s songs. It’s just that ptx came first so that’s why I think they’re more popular. Also some of it might be that they cover a bigger music genre, but Home Free does too so idk. I love Home Free with all my heart, and they will always be number 1 for me! ❤️
Nate Eller they’re the best group PERIOD.
God and his spirit validates them regardless of whether the human race under rates them! Quality over quantity!
Never heard anyone do this Vince Gill song justice. Only Home Free can make me cry as hard. Such a touching song. Awesome guys❤️
I just lost my dad very unexpectedly. We played this song at his funeral. I’m still in shock and oh so massively heartbroken.
I used this version at my brothers funeral in Dec. 2019.
Home Free is such an underrated group. God Bless y'all.
Sorry for your loss, Doug. I also played this at my mother's funeral in Dec 2019. I especially liked that they work Amazing Grace in there. A very talented group.
God bless your family. May God send your family the comforter.
My condolences for your loss. That was very fitting because Vince Gill wrote it for his brother.
@Grace Schumacher Sorry for your loss! They are a wonderful Group!
Eternal rest grant on to Doug's brother oh lord, guide him to heaven and may your perpetual light shine upon him.
This song touches my heart and soul I cry every time I hear it. Thank you Jesus christ my savior for ever Amen.
Hello Deborah..
My mom just died. I got to say goodbye to her for the last time through a window with a timer on even that . Thank you for this beautiful reminder that this world with all its evils is temporary.
Praying for a better year!
My mom passed away 3 years ago. My brother in law sang this song. Was such a blur. ❤
I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. Way too many stories like yours. We weren’t allowed to be with her until just a few days before she died. By that time, she was gone - her body just hadn’t stopped.
@@patriciasnyder6915 I am so sorry for your loss and this sad ending of her story. God Bless.
I sang this song for a dear friends funeral . It was a difficult thing to do, but the family really loved it and appreciated it so much. This song is so beautiful. This group does a remarkable job.
Smiles, absolutely beautiful Denise, feels really great listening, how are you doing? 🌺😊
I can't hear this song without crying, and thinking of my dad. Worst day of my life...
There just are not enough words to say how PERFECT this is....
But there are tears. So many tears.
@@davidlawrence2204 Best Concert in a long time! Love Home Free!
I know exactly what you mean!
So many tears. Such a perfect song.
Have you seen Home Free in person, I was in balcony and Tim's voice made my seat vibrate!
My cousin, KC, lost his battle with drugs on 6/11/19. We were closer than brothers. I couldn't say goodbye. That was until I found this. Thank you so much. God bless.
Edit: it's been two years since my original post. I've now returned to morn my stepfather. Miss them both so much.
My troubled daughter died this last month no drugs except medically prescribed.... she finally found happiness . God gave that last blessing
And allowed that peace for those of us left here knowing she left here happy . Now she is with her younger sister and grandparents that were so beloved . I just wait to be together again.
Hello Charlie. How are you doing?
We just played this song at my brother's funeral, and it was acapella. He died unexpectedly at 46, I never in a million years thought I'd ever say that. I'm broken, my parents are broken, and so are his two boys. This song brought me to tears at his funeral, it's speaks so much about our grief.
I know your pain man, stay strong.
This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. The thought of how many wonderful people we have lost is stunning. There is a great saying, “every time an older person dies a library burns down.”
My Mum died almost three years ago, I miss her every day. ut my son Sam She lived a long life and she was a seamstress. Sewed many a wedding dress and other stuff. Her favorite song was Amazing Grace. I wanted to sing at her funeral but my son Sam did!
We played this today at my stepfather's funeral... Was fitting for a West Virginia music man. God bless you all, thank you!
Hello Sarah..
Made me think of my deceased son. Had a dream of him in heaven being an angel and helping people from up on high. He was 24 when he died. In my dream. He was his energetic 4 year old self saying he liked it there.
The death know not anything and death is but a sleep is what the Bible says. Man cannot become an angel. If he loved God and follows Him faithfully, he will be resurrected as Christ comes in the first coming of Christ to take his followers home. Read Revelation. Consider why anyone would be resurrected if they were already in heaven. Having said that, I realize so many are comforted by this believe. But how can anyone be in heaven without judgement first. God bless you, I also lost my sister to cancer and it took me over 10 months to recover from that pain.
Lyrics:
I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain
[Chorus:]
Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing
[Chorus]
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
I was blind, but now I see
[Chorus]
Thanks
This song has a special meaning for my wife and I as we lost our youngest son in 2017. As it happened, Vince Gill's original was the first song we heard on the radio the day of his funeral.
Thank you Home Free for covering this song so beautifully.
To my baby boy Elijah, 2 years in this world was far too short. Mummy and Daddy miss you so very much but we will never stop loving you. Fly high with our Lord sweet angel
I am very sorry for your loss! Your family is in my prayers!
🙏🕊☝️💝👼
We pray that you will find peace and rest in the way God has touched your family. Gods ways are perfect, His love for you is beyond your comprehension. Be blessed 🙏
Rest in peace Elijah. He is waiting for you two and will be over joyed when his dad gets to throw him up on his shoulders once more and feel mother's lips on his forehead. To him it will be in the blink of an eye. You have to take the long road but you will make it.
I lost my oldest child when she was two. My heart is with you and many prayers.
Thumbs down?? Why? Who? Maybe some ticked off musicians who weren't needed for this acappela session or someone who cannot appreciate one of the most beautiful songs written and performed or someone in a contrary mood.
My Step Mom Patty died about a hour ago. She was not well, but this was very sudden and unexpected. My relationship with her was poor for so very long, but recently had been getting much better. Time, health and distance kept us from seeing each other in person for a very long time however. Oh how I could have been able to see her in person and tell her that I loved her, that I forgave her long ago. That I was happy that she had been my Mom.
I recorded this for one of my CD's in the late 90's and at first it did not get too much attention but then, one by one people started telling me that it was played at their Mothers, or Brothers, or Dads, or Aunts or whatever loved ones funeral. And then I had the experience of singing it at my own Father's funeral in 2003 via CD. I could not do it live because I am so easily overcome by emotion. But what a great song Vince Gill wrote here. You guys just sing the wheels off of it just like you do everything else you sing. Bless you guys. You all have a God Given voice. Thank Him that you found each other!
Home Free will always be one of my favorite groups!
Every time I hear this song, whether it’s at any given person’s funeral or in any other situation, it gets to me. I really don’t cry much, especially for a female. But this song turns on the waterworks almost every time. 😭 The lyrics and the melody are just gorgeous.
@@jdkilpatrick2000 I agree! After seeing them in concert, I am so hooked! Love their voices!

Gave me cold chills!! Very seldom is a cover song as good as the original, but man, this one is as close as it gets. Absolutely beautiful!!!!
Hello Carolyn..
This has me in tears. Nov 9 will mark 10 years since my Dad died and he loved this song
Holy crap that was amazing. Perfect pitch, beautiful tone and harmony that takes a back seat to exactly no one. Such a gift. Thank you for sharing it.
Robert Purser take a back seat to Vince Gill
Kris Weems- In no way was I discounting the greatness of Vince Gill. His voice is pure gold-Until Vince joined the Eagles, I thought of him as a solo artist-one of the best ever. He takes a back seat to no one. What I was trying to say is that the 5 guys in Home Free harmonize as good as any group I have ever heard.
@@Weems09 It's not a competition, it's a respectful homage to Vince's song/delivery/meaning..These amazing all lead singers, songwriters, arrangers, multi-instrumentalists who love a cappella, are incredible in their own right..This was simple beautiful/meaningful..Just sayin'😊

Everyone has a song that they listen to and it hits you down in your heart, makes yo go down on your kneels and thank God for the life you have now. I have a short testimony I tell everyone. I saw my life turning around for the best when I met Lyra holt Dean at a church service in New York (google her name) and ask your questions and pray because its GOD doing. Amen John 14:16 God said he is going to send you a helper that will be with you forever.

I've been listening to this song for years. So in this difficult month. My partner passed away unexpectedly three years ago. He was then sixty. Finally he had the peace that he did not have here on earth. This song makes me cry every time. Home Free sings it with so much emotion. Especially Rob's voice. Because even though I love all the voices of Home Free, I don't know why, but with Rob there is always a special feeling through my whole body. Sometimes it gives me goosebumps. And not just with this song. Also many compliments to the other members of Home Free. You guys are just too great. Please, stay together forever. You are so unity. The harmonies, the inhuman beatboxing, the background, the high and low notes, the choral sounds etc etc.
I agree, There is something about Rob's voice. The songs where he take lead are my favorites. I listen over and over. And this one will probably always be my number one.
And I want them all to stay together always.
