Emigration Clearance Certificate (ECC) - You Need This Document to Leave 🇵🇭 (Foreigners)

- For long-term (6+ months) tourists (foreigners) trying to leave the Philippines, you'll first need to obtain a Emigration Clearance Certificate (ECC), before heading off to catch you flight at the airport.
If you're staying around the BGC area, you can process your ECC at the Bureau of Immigration Satellite Office, located on the 8th Floor of SM Aura.
What a pain in the arse! Imagine if you have a medical emergency and need to get to a hospital in Hong Kong, Singapore, or perhaps Thailand. Now imagine the stress if this emergency is happening on a day when immigration is not open! What a dumb policy and a waste of a foreigner's time!
Thanks for the info, that is useful. I thought that paper was more of a formality, like 20 minutes for an extension. Gonna leave after 7 months. I start to regret I didn't leave just before the 6 months period. They were adding plenty of fees for express lane, extra 6 months fee in my last extension coming from nowhere + now that bureaucratic exit clearance certificate.
One thing I would have found useful in the video is if you had a summary screen where you basically listed all of the requirements. Something like
- ECC Form (SM Aura Immigration Office)
- 2x2 Photo (x4)
...etc
Not really sure what else was needed. Although like you said, for some reason you needed a photocopy of your passport page
Thanks for the tip! Noted for future vlogs 😊
Only 3hrs…not too bad. That’s quite expensive though. I wonder if that ECC is the same as Exit clearance/fee? It was only 500 pesos. I have my Filipino citizenship so less hassle for me. However I gotta get my US passport renewal by mail. It will take at least 8 weeks to process. I was gonna get it done in the States but the expedite will take 5 weeks. Didn’t bother coz I was only there for a month. A long long time ago, going to the Passport Office was a breeze. It only took 3 days to expedite. These days everything takes forever!
Oh yeah, the ECC is quite pricey and a lot more than I was expecting to pay, tbh. Oh wow, it takes 8 weeks now to process a US passport renewal 😅 I think I still have a few years left on mine, but probably something I should get to with at least 6+ months left before expiration, haha. All the best and hope you get yours renewed without issues 🙏
Take care always jay and jenny have a safe travel.👍✌🙏😍
Thank you Perla! We’re so excited for this trip 🤩
Ingat Jay & Jenny!! 🥰
Thank you so much Abby! 🤗
More unnecessary red tape. Thanks PH bureaucracy!
You need to show them also your visa extension?
Thx, glad they have an express lane and have a flight in 4 buisness days.
All the best to you!
3 hours is ok, including waiting for the pictures and buying glue, etc, etc... i thought you had to wait in line for 3 hours hehehe... so, that's not so bad... at least next time, you already know what to do (and you have your glue ready), you can do all of the filling up at home and just go to immigration to submit your documents...
Oh yeah, the entire process took 3 hours, so it wasn't that bad. Yup, next time we should know EXACTLY what to do so we don't have to run around looking for things like glue sticks, haha 🤗
can we come back to Phillipines after out from here with ecc?
What if you only there for one week or two in the Philippines
Did you put your flight information on the request for authorization visa extension? And do you have to have a flight booked already before getting ECC
Wow Jay 3 hours of filling out paper work getting photos and you still need to do more? That's a lot of work I'm getting tired just watching this video LOL anyway Jay I hope you and Jenny have a great time in Hong Kong and everything goes ok👍👍
😂😂😂😂
👍👍👍 Just things you gotta do 👍👍👍
Yup, you get used to it after awhile... 😅😆
Soo 3 days is the fastest to get it processed?
I am leaving after 63 days (June 6) I have read that I can pay this ECC fee at the airport. Some says it is included in the valid visa. My visa is valid for to end of July. Many says that I do not need ECC but only after 6 months, it depens of what country you are I think. I will call to BUI just to make sure about it.
Since you're leaving after only 63 days upon arrival (less than 6 months), I'm not sure that a ECC will be required from you prior to your departure from the country. However, to be 100% sure, you can consult with the Bureau of Immigration. To my knowledge, you should be good to go 👍 As for paying any ECC fees at the airport, I've heard this is "hit or miss" and depends on who you get. To be safe, if you need an ECC for exit, it's always best to take care of this requirement in advance, like we covered in this video. Hope that helps and good luck!
Idol alis kna ba dito sa bansa namin😢😢 i miss you guys
Vacation lang idol, rest assured i will be back 😁
from which store did you buy your hat Jenny? it's pretty!
Thanks so much po, glad you like it 🤗 We got the hat at Bershka at SM Aura
Really helpful information.
Glad you found this vlog useful sir! 😊
@@BGCDreams very useful. Thank you. Quick question, do I need an ECC to travel to Japan? I've been here 6 years married to a Filipina, but I'm an American with an American passport.
@@iMEBvlogs To my knowledge, the ECC is required for foreign tourists but if you're married and on a balikbayan visa (or something other than a tourist visa), this requirement may not apply to you. Sorry, I can't say for certain but that's a great question!
@@BGCDreams thanks.
I got a visa from the Phil. embassy in Jordan for a 30-day stay. Do I need to obtain the exit clearance certificate when I depart Phil.?
For a 30 day stay, no, it's not necessary to get a ECG prior to your departure out of the country. Cheers!
May I know what visa you are holding in Ph? My husband has his Probationary 13a resident. And may i know when you enter again in Ph after a short vacation abroad? Do yiu need again a entry clearance? Thanks
I just have a standard tourist visa, which I've been renewing periodically. Whenever i re-enter the Philippines, it restarts again... To my knowledge, you don't need any entry clearance if you have a US passport, which is visa on arrival. Hope that helps!
Hey as someone who is trying to study in korea but there is a required certificate of exit and entry is it the same if not do u know what i can do to obtain that
Sorry, I'm not sure about that. You'll have to check with the Bureau of Immigration, if you're on a tourist visa. Otherwise, to whichever department handles your specific type of visa. All the best!
It’s another money rorting scam
