I’ve heard that the original idea was to imply that Longshot was going to put Jet out of his misery, either by showing Longshot pointing his arrow at Jet when they cut away from the scene or just not showing him aiming at the door away from Jet (I can’t remember which scenario it was), but Nickelodeon said no, so they changed it to Longshot aiming at the door.

For the record, the creators did confirm that Jet indeed died from his injuries off-screen. Also, it's the ultinate irony that a guy who lost his parents to the Fire Nation & suffered PTSD from their attack on his village later gets killed by a high ranking & respected Earthbender inside the Earth Kingdom Capitol City.

Man, I never even thought about that. All his hate was focused on the Fire nation, but it was Earth Kingdom citizens that led to his ultimate downfall. Dang.

Yeah the cool thing about a series as amazing as Avatar, is that you can keep finding these connections and insights, even though it is almost 10 years ago that it started airing and after having watched it for the 100th time.

Well if you all remember Jet wanted to kill hundreds of Earth Kingdom citizens just because a few dozen Fire Nation occupation soilders & for some reason a really old Fire Nation man were in it.

Hey Meesh and Dee. I hope you two are having a wonderful Thursday. This was a great episode. I love the scene where Iroh talks some sense into Zuko. One of my favorite moments of the episode. Along with Appa, reunited with Aang and the gang.
At the same time this episode shock me with the death of Jet. I thought at first he was just injured. But once Toph said he was lying and Smellerbee crying. I knew he was gone. Job well done by the writers and everyone involved especially the voice actors. But anyway I hope you two have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing.

One of my favorite moments too! Iroh is just a well rounded person 🥲
      RIP JET

@MeeshDeeReacts Thank you and yes Iroh is that uncle that everyone would love to have around. Very smart and wise. Someone who experienced great loss. Instead of letting that loss destroy him inside and make him bitter. He instead chose a different route. To help those in need from Zuko from time to time. His talk with Toph and the man who tried to mugged him in Iroh story in Tales of Bai Sing Sai.
And yes I'm sadden for the death of Jet. But at least before he died. He was able to redeem himself in his final moments. He was a great character despite not being in the story that much.

So another new thing we find in this episode is that Toph can tell if someone is lying or telling the truth. Flashback to the episode of The Tales of Ba Sing Se, specifically The Tale of Toph and Katara, in the scene where after getting bullied by some mean girls, Katara gives compliment to Toph and saying that Toph is really pretty. At that moment Toph can tell that Katara is saying the truth and really means it. That's why she takes the compliment so deeply ☺ It's really sweet and heartwarming moment.

Yeah, Jet's "demise" is sad the more I rewatch ATLA. The poor kid just wanted justice ... or revenge, depending on how you look at it, but he tried to do good. I feel sorry for his friends, too.

In Ba Sing Se, he acted reasonably. Firebenders in Ba Sing Se is suspicious, so he tried to report them to the police. But he let his obsession take over.

When we see who killed Jet’s family, it being the Rough Rhinos surprised me. We’ve seen them twice before, once when they attacked the Gaang and Sokka lost his boomerang. And again when Uncle and Zuko were on the run. Uncle Iroh called them a “very capable singing group” The details in this show are so great!

I was really pissed off when I read the comics and found out that they weren’t punished for the mass murder of civilians. They’re completely fine and work as freelance bodyguards currently in the employ of Toph’s father. Such a slap in the face to Jet, his parents and the other villagers.

  • @StillOnTrack

Yeah that scene between Uncle Iroh and Zuko is one of the heaviest in the whole show for me. That's some tough love for real! Like you said it hits harder because before now he's been trying to gently nudge Zuko in the right direction, but now he's done being gentle.
Its almost like Iroh has been Team Avatar this whole time. Even hiding possible Aang sightings from Zuko. Like maybe he WANTED the Avatar to stop his corrupt nation's imperialism and defeat his twisted little brother Ozai. 😮
3 more eps till Book 3: Fire! 🔥🔥🔥

Iroh's speech in this episode is one of if not the best speech in the show. For the first time he raises his voice against Zuko. And its such a powerful scene.
And hes literally right. Zuko never thinks anything through. He never thinks of consequences. Thats what the biggest difference between Azula and Zuko. Each time Azula fights Aang she tires him out first [in the Episodes: The Chase (He is sleep deprived) and The Drill (Hes physically tired because he had to cut through a bunch of metal Pillars) ] and only then goes to attack him and we all know how many times Zuko got his butt whooped by Aang. Like if aang werent a pacifist he wouldve died atleast 5 times.
And Wanna know just how much of a airhead Zuko is in this ep. In Lost Appa poster the Gaang literally put their Address as Upper Ring, house number and everything, and Iroh is going to get his own tea shop in Upper ring, Zuko heard that Literally minutes before he finds the poster. But he just started ambushing member fo Dai li instead of waiting a few days. Thats how little he thinks.
Jets death was sad and the irony that even tho he despised firenation and firebenders it was, at the end of the day, an Earth Kingdom official and earthbending that finished him.
Also notice how Toph is a lie detector this episode. And go back to tales of Ba Sing Se and Katara tells Toph is pretty. She truly means it and Toph was able to sense it. Just a tiny heartwarming detail.
Great reaction. And i do have a suggestion. If all the episodes arent edited (especially Book 3) id recommend putting a filter on the show portion (so that wed atleast get the audio portion) instead of it be unfiltered and fast paced. If the editing has been done. Then oh well 🤷.
    Have a nice day. 😊😊

Thank you for the feedback! We’re in the process of finding the right editor to help us post faster. pls be patient with us 🙏🏻
I will be editing most of the ATLA videos from now on so no more important moments/dialogue cut 🥲

i don't get how being in the upper ring affects Zuko's decision to ambush a Dai Li agent. Yeah he knows where Aang lives now...he even acknowledges it to his Uncle, and that he's lost his bison. Zuko can just as easily sneak into the Upper Ring....but that's not his plan. He knows just going to Aang's address won't quite work out. He wants to either intercept him or use Appa as some sort of bait....again in the interest of catching Aang off-guard. It's loose and poorly conceived because he needs to either wait for Aang there or utilize Dai Li or earthbending to transport him, while chained or incapacitated, out of the prison, but....the ambush of the Dai Li agent is clearly a few steps into his plan. First he had to learn the Dai Li possibly captured him, then he needed an agent to lead him to the prison. The point overall is to find something Aang values and is seeking and ambush him. But the execution is a bit beyond Zuko's means.

Not only does jet die he dies not at the hands of the fire nation, whom he considered the absolute evil, but at the hands of the earth kingdom. Just like he was at one point willing to kill fellow citizens of the eart kingdom to achieve his goals.

For me the creepiest line is still “ The Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai”. Like damn they’re brainwashing their dissenters and the escorts people get when they visit. Makes you wonder if the other nations do the same thing and how long it’s been going on in the Earth Kingdom.
