awesome demo, thx
Great demo. Looks like I need one to go along with my small box that is on the way. Thanks for the Demo on the small box. Your video played a big part in me pulling the trigger on it.
keith wollenberg - My go-to amp!
@@DAVEWEINERGUITAR I received it today. Got it at two pm and played it till about 7Pm. Got home from acoustic gig at 2 am and can't stop playing it. Missed you guys in Naperville Illinois recently due to having a gig. It was great to see you guys do something that Vai's put together for the little friends!. Take care and thanks again.
@@DAVEWEINERGUITAR Dave, is the Suhr Reactive Load IR enough sound quality to record an album with it? When you discover it are you still going to use real cab or simulation? Thanks!
triclops8 - Yes, a record could be made with it. I always mic my cabs. I just prefer the ease and sound of mic’ing a cab and a room. But for those that don’t know how to mic, or can’t for whatever reason, the RLIR is an awesome solution.
Great demo.
anyone home - Thx much!
Just got one of these used. The IR output is barely audible, vs the non-IR output. Using a 100w Marshall head @8 Ohms, and sounds fine going through my real cab as well. I verified the IR's are in their folders, so not sure what else it could be? I tried balanced and unbalanced cables as the outputs to my DAW.
Thanks! If I want to listen to it w/o headphones, where do I connect it? Does it have attenuator built in?
In the case you want to run a tube amp via Surh 8ohms with 4x12 cab 16 ohms. How do you resolve the impedance in this situation?
Anyone know what “transparent” attenuator I can use with this device? I prefer this over torpedo captor X.
nice ! BTW is it possible to load 3rd party IR's INSIDE the load box ? (without going through audio interface) thanks !
Bravata Wildcat - Yes, just have to use a USB cable to your computer.
If I want to practice at really low volumes...eg 70-75db’s (trying to protect my ears) is this a better solution on a head vs helix, etc... both are going to end up through studio monitors...right? There are so many options I have anxiety picking.
The right choice is always whichever you prefer. And that may not work that well for you, so then you try the other options until you find what works for you. Personal experience is the only teacher and the only answer. No one can tell you which to like (for anything in life). That said, using your real amp with a Suhr RLIR (or similar device) will feel and sound different than a Helix. Which works best for you? That's only for you to decide. I personally, always and forever, will favor tube amps over a computer. But that's just me. Hope that helps.
Hi Dave thanks for this demo you comfort my choice to bought one.
I try it today for the first time but a sort of very little latency or more a pre delay (difficult to explain)when i play it directly on monitors? Not painful but very strange and the recorded sound is normal Oo. Normal?
Thanks Again.
I have not experienced the same.. good luck!
@@DAVEWEINERGUITAR ok thanks 😉
Dave, is it enough sound quality to record an album with it? When you discover it are you still going to use real cab or simulation?
Yes it is, if it is providing the tones you want for your recording.
Hello just wonder why they wouldn't include a XLR output for f.o.h?
Peter Schaefer - Probably not enough room for an extra output, but you could always use a splitter. Send Suhr an email with that feature request for the next version.
The two notes torpedo captor x also has XLR outputs
So Dave, around 8:30, you said you'd use this live, but still run the amp into a cab..., and you mentioned being on a loud stage, in that context. But if the stage was loud, wouldn't you still have to turn the cab up? But you also mentioned you use IEM's, and are trying to eliminate/reduce bleed. So what's the point of still using a cab in that setting? Seems to me the whole point of using this type of gear, including modelers, is so you can have a clear stage sound, no bleed, and send FOH the best sound possible, so the audience, the entire audience, will essentially have a consistent listening experience, no matter where they're seated/standing.
And while we're talking about great FOH sound..., I had an idea while I was at a show that had horrible sound: Since bass carries pretty much everywhere, and the highs can get lost, why not have some type of FOH system where the bass/subs are predominantly in front, with others at 90, 180, and 270 (Pink Floyd-ish), but also have high-range speakers hanging from the ceiling, essentially blanketing the arena? The only thing I can think as to why it may not work is latency issues. But in medium-sized venues..., maybe it would work? I think the idea came to me due to home stereos having recently come out using 5.1 surround sound. So it would be something akin to that type of listening experience.
what's that whistling sound? .. it's sounds like scraping metal
It’s just feedback. Amp is cranked so you get feedback just like you would through a real cab.
DAVEWEINER thanks.. I thought that might be it
That's an unfortunate name man :D
