Hey thanks! Yeah they're pretty tight. I don't get super easy harmonics out of them like I do with the Crunch Lab, but at the same time the Dominion feels a bit less extreme and more natural overall. Maybe that's the PAF feeling you're describing.
@@akrocanth Yeah they are pretty tight. I've been using a set of P-Rails in an Ibanez SZ2020 for the past year, So my ears have become so used to that sound that it took a while to adjust to the Dominions. It's only been a day so far, lol.
Thanks! Yeah I still have the Dominion in two guitars. I hardly ever change pickups, once I select and install something it tends to stay in that guitar forever haha. Maybe I should switch it up more though.
Great video man and thanks for posting it. How would you say the dominion compare to the 81. I'm trying to make a transition to passive and I have yet to hear a bad playthrough with these.
Thanks! It's funny, I just bought a guitar with an 81 and it's the first time I've used EMGs since probably 2008. I liked them a lot back in the day but I'm pretty out of touch with actives since then. The Dominion definitely isn't as immediate as an active like that and won't have the compressed response or insane harmonics you're probably used to, but I think it would be a good contender to start off with passives. I initially used the Duncan Distortion directly after switching to passives from EMGs, but the Dominion isn't as harsh as that imo. The 81 does it's type of sound really well, for what it's worth. Just not really my thing anymore.

@@timothyrussell2971 I've been giving dimarzio pups a shot for about a year now. Was into emgs and then got into passives thanks to Keith Merrow. Started off with Duncan's Pegasus/Sentient combo. Had the Alpha/Omega set as well. Those sold off and right now I have a dimarzio d activator in one gtr and titans in 2 other gtrs. Great choices for the price. The only pickup I still continually think about is that pegasus i had. Im looking to try the dominion and gravity storm first before settling on a pickup for my A# tuned guitar. All this to say my favorite 2 pickups so far are the dimarzio titans and the duncan pegasus.

Cool video bud. I just got a Jackson Dominion Pro and I love the pickups. For some reason they actually remind me of PAF pickups, just tighter.

How do the dominions compare to the emg 81? I'm really thinking of getting these and replacing my 81?

that is a sick guitar. are you still using dominion pu? I've been going through so much pickups, its' getting quite annoying haha.
