I think Boimler and Mariner will get together in the end, but they will have lots of other relationships along the way. I'm hoping that Boimler and T'Lyn will have a relationship in Season 4. That should be interesting as Boimler is the human who is structured and logical and T'Lyn is the vulcan who is spontaneous and instinct-driven.
@@joeschembrie9450 It would be great if the two really ended up becoming a couple. The makers have ruled that out so far. Of course it could just be a trick. We'll see how the two of them continue.
Hear that supposedly Beckett is gonna end up a pairing with Jennifer which I think would honestly be quite a fun idea. Normally with four-character ensembles they get evenly paired up male-to-female so it'd be a fun twist if it goes a different way here.
Fun fact: In Beta Cannon, Andorians have 4 genders, Two masculine genders, Chan and Thaan (Shran was a Thaan) And 2 feminine genders, Zhen and Shen, I wonder if Jen is a Shen or a Zhen?
Beta canon also has gender prefixes attached to surnames, so Jennifer's surname of "sh'Reyan" (as listed in a background shot in 208) suggests she's a shen.
did they ever get into specifics about what the differences were exactly? because I can recall a few species in fiction having multiple sexes like that but I can't recall if they ever really went into detail about how they differentiated. Alien Nation was probably the closest that did.
@@Igarappappa shen provides the egg that gets fertilized by one of the male sexes (either "one or the other" or "one of them specifically", wiki is vague, but says you need all four for reproduction) and transferred to the zhen, who brings it to term.
So apparently Mariner Fantasizes about Jen as revealed in the most recent Lower Decks Episode. So you think they might actually get together by the end of Season 3? I’d Ship it, or Cerritos it! B3
Pretty impressive that they had enough spacesuits for everyone, perhaps they had the replicators on overdrive or they packed the shuttlecrafts and escape pods, maybe certain areas such as the mess hall and the medical bay are hermetically sealed with their own life support systems (would help against the spread of diseases with the med bay and the spread of odours of certain styles of cooking with the mess hall).
There's loads of examples in other Star Trek series of them sealing off chunks of the ship with forcefields, including doorways, and in at least some circumstances specifically to close hull breaches
I wonder in the upcoming Star Trek Lower Deck if Jennifer will make amend with Mariner since she's the one who broke up their relationship after the misunderstanding during Mariner's unauthorized interview with Victoria Nuzé because at the end of the Season 3 finale she didn't come to Mariner and apologizes unless Jennifer is very a shame of herself while feeling guilty for wrongly accuse Mariner for something that she didn't do.
If that happens it would be hard to tell who she jealous of, is she jealous of Jennifer being with Boimler or is she jealous of Boimler being with Jennifer. Maybe Mariner is openly in love with Jennifer but has a hidden longing/soft spot for Boimler.
@@deathking1019 I highly doubt that would happen. Marvel are sort of doing it with Cyclops/Wolverine/Jean Grey with mixed feedback. So I don't think we're there quite yet.

Truth be told, I still hope for her and Boimler to become an item, but I can get behind Marinner and Jennifer. Heck, maybe they could use the Marinner, Jennifer relationship to emphasise romantic tensions between Marinner and Boimler, perhaps with him being jealous of how much time Marinner spends with Jennifer
I'm rooting for Mariner and Boimler, too, but I love organic relationships. Unanticipated ships that just work are awesome, and if the series ends with Mariner/Jennifer, and it clicks, I'll be just as happy with it.
She has become a fan favourite character, I like her character and where her and Mariners friendships goes will be interesting, BUT I think many feel she should be in a relationship with Mariner. I would like it if T'Lyn come over and becomes a love interest for Boimler.
Boimler and T'Lyn would be an interesting couple, but that's a bit too much like Trip and T'Pol from 'Enterprise.' That being the case, the writers may say "been there, done that" and go in another direction.
@@thomashill6347 You know, I never really thought of that! Rutherford's part machine, Vulcans aspire to be machines, so that would actually make sense.
@@ShaolinShadowStroke Well I was thinking that T'Lyn is in science and Technology so that would be something she would like and Rutherford is a Engineer and Technology is his thing.
I think Boimler/T'Lyn would be fun. She is a loose cannon by Vulcan standards, but her attitude is pretty stoic for a human. It would be funny if she thought that Boimler was a loose cannon like her after he does something that is mildly against the standard procedure.
The series subtly showed us that Sh' Reyan was after Mariner. The excuses to talk to her or like when Boimler left, Jennifer slept very close so close to Mariner, as if to bother when Mariner texted Boimler. Jenifer probably tried to move into Boimler bed, before they used it as a cellar for their knickknacks.
I'm embarrassed that I didn't recognize Lauren Lapkus' voice immediately. Also continuing the weird trend of her getting cast as non-funny roles, despite being hilarious irl.
0:55-1:00 This is the funniest thing to me. You just barely see her realize "oh hey that's not a normal 'I don't like you' thing" before the video cuts away (and I think the original episode distracts from it another way?)
it would be on brand for lower decks to boldly go where no star trek show has gone before, but at least for this combination i would hope no, simply because i don't want Boimler and Mariner to end up together, even if it's in a thruple. It's just such a cliche, we'll likely gonna get Tendi/Rutherford, so i hope Boimler and Mariner both find someone outside their original friends group.
Good point. As an aside, I've always wondered the same about the Klingon General Chang in "The Undiscovered Country." "Chang" is an Earth Human name. Was it ever established if he had a human ancestor?
In story: maybe her actual name sounds like "Jennifer" and she decided to keep it that way. Out story: because Mariner's VA was improvising and the name stuck.
I hate how they treated Mariner and Jennifer's relationship. They teased it so much in S2E10, gave us little tidbits in S3E3 and S3E6, and then just unceremoniously fucked it in S3E9 for... reasons. First proper lesbian relationship in Trek, and they screwed it up.

I’m not sure how to deal with that.
Starfleet is supposed to be accommodating for all species in the Federation, so Andorian-specific gear for Andorians is not out of the question. Cetatian ops plus other cetatian accommodations is another example.
@@kidterra4483 Andorians use their antennae for balance, the way humans use their ear tubes.
Getting dizzy on spacewalks is _bad._
0:57 That sounded strangely like she was hoping that was true.
"Uh....yoga!" Gets me every time lol.
I'm surprised to see so many Mariner/Jennifer shippers, as opposed to Mariner/T'Lyn shippers. Considering that T'Lyn seems to have a lot in common with Mariner while we still know very little about Jennifer other than she saved Mariner's life.
yeah I was surprised that they seemed to be hinting at Mariner liking her since the season 2 finale was the most we've seen them interact
@@mikemorro140 I think Mariner/Jennifer started out as a running gag. But now they seem to have decided to go with "two girls who hate each other secretly want to hook up" angle.
I think it’s because mariner and T’lyn haven’t met
@@kikitiki6305 Yeah, I get that but when has that stopped shippers?
@@moonlitebrite9317 fair enough but it just makes sense that they ship mariner and Jennifer more than with T’Lyn
I did not realize Jennifer was there all this time
Love what was apparently an improvised name becoming a breakout character like this.
Apparently they're dating now. I hope they don't screw it up; Beckett needs more stable, supportive, and positive relationships (including romantic). Like her parents come across as maybe meaning well, but being the kind of parents who continually demand their child get straight As and master the violin. Which explains a lot of Mariner's behavior when you think about it.
by all Measure Laurin did a very good job with her Voice work, I am very glad I can pick out most of the people by there voice, its fun knowing who has worked on the show !!
And now it’s confirmed she’s in love with Jennifer 😂
One thing that I never thought lower decks would do is make the manual flight stick thing from Insurrection make sense with it being on starfleet ships
A Boilmer and Mariner relationship remains my absolute favorite. But it will definitely be very interesting to see what happens next with the Mariner and Jennifer. It doesn't matter what happens to the two of them.
Normally with four-character ensembles they get evenly paired up male-to-female so it'd be a fun twist if it goes a different way here.
that or ransom. Since she has said he is hot too and ransom also thinks she is sometimes.
Not that there is anything wrong with Male-to-Female pairings 😐🤷🏻♂️
happy to have an andorian with a somewhat bigger role. there hasn't been one since Shran. plus Jennifer is just so cute ^^
Fun fact: In Beta Cannon, Andorians have 4 genders,
Two masculine genders, Chan and Thaan (Shran was a Thaan)
And 2 feminine genders, Zhen and Shen,
I wonder if Jen is a Shen or a Zhen?
@@nickmalachai2227 That's kinda what I was thinking.
So apparently Mariner Fantasizes about Jen as revealed in the most recent Lower Decks Episode.
So you think they might actually get together by the end of Season 3?
I’d Ship it, or Cerritos it! B3
I ship it. They cute together
0:40 and 0:57 supports your claim
And they would be a cute ship
Oh my. They DID make Jennifer into something more.
Just now noticed Jennifer's space helmet has a small set of extensions for her antennae.
That push was uncalled for, and unneeded.
I just love the part went she push Jennifer 😂😅🤣
Ugh, now I need to draw fanart. Thanks a lot, _Jennifer_ 😠
*nsf...??* ... Forget it
But no there's already fan out only one on Twitter

I wonder how many times I've looked at a tv show and say
"Oh, just fuck already"
I wonder in the upcoming Star Trek Lower Deck if Jennifer will make amend with Mariner since she's the one who broke up their relationship after the misunderstanding during Mariner's unauthorized interview with Victoria Nuzé because at the end of the Season 3 finale she didn't come to Mariner and apologizes unless Jennifer is very a shame of herself while feeling guilty for wrongly accuse Mariner for something that she didn't do.
I'm betting she turns into a love interest of Boimler and Mariner starts hating her again, but TOTALLY not because she's jealous.
If that happens it would be hard to tell who she jealous of, is she jealous of Jennifer being with Boimler or is she jealous of Boimler being with Jennifer. Maybe Mariner is openly in love with Jennifer but has a hidden longing/soft spot for Boimler.
@@moonlitebrite9317 just imagine if they create the first open ploy relationship and all three of them are together
@@deathking1019 I highly doubt that would happen. Marvel are sort of doing it with Cyclops/Wolverine/Jean Grey with mixed feedback. So I don't think we're there quite yet.
@@moonlitebrite9317 well star trek is always about going boldly where no one has gone before
@@deathking1019 True, but I still don't think we're there yet.
Holy shit she stages prison breaks because of Sito
Love the facial expression cell stop at 0:02
"Jennifer can't wear hats. Her antennae are too sensitive."
Any of you who watch season 3 episode 3 definitely answer the question what type of relationship they have
I was hoping that Mariner and Boimler would end up together, but I'm really starting to like Jennifer. It might be interesting to see her and Marinner together.
I'd prefer Jennifer and mariner to be friends and mariner and boilmer to be lovers
I'm rooting for Mariner and Boimler, too, but I love organic relationships. Unanticipated ships that just work are awesome, and if the series ends with Mariner/Jennifer, and it clicks, I'll be just as happy with it.
@@johnmccarron7066 same here, though Mariner and Boimler could still be very close in that case, and Jennifer would be equally close to him!
Live long and prosper 🖖
Avoid death and cower.
@@ShaolinShadowStroke Maybe BUT it would be interesting OR maybe she get interested in Rutherford GIVING a rage to Tendi
It’s sad Jennifer only existed as a plot device to facilitate a break up scene and is never mentioned again.
Well I think that sucks
The series subtly showed us that Sh' Reyan was after Mariner.
The excuses to talk to her or like when Boimler left, Jennifer slept very close so close to Mariner, as if to bother when Mariner texted Boimler.
Jenifer probably tried to move into Boimler bed, before they used it as a cellar for their knickknacks.
THIS is SO much funnier in hindsight.
Am I the onle one who loves the fact that her helmet has space for her antennae?
Aaaaaand now I ship it. God damn it.
I love the space suit for the andorian
Excitement for the future wedding episode for these two
I hope they get back together.
I'm embarrassed that I didn't recognize Lauren Lapkus' voice immediately.
Also continuing the weird trend of her getting cast as non-funny roles, despite being hilarious irl.
I'M SHIPPING THOSE TWO AND NO ONE CAN STOP ME!!!!
I think it's actually been confirmed they will date in Season 3, but guess we'll have to wait and see to be certain. Quickly, I need to find a TARDIS!
Always find it pretty endearing how she jokes and messed with Boimler but the moment he is gone she is admitting the guy is pretty great XD
0:55-1:00
This is the funniest thing to me. You just barely see her realize "oh hey that's not a normal 'I don't like you' thing" before the video cuts away (and I think the original episode distracts from it another way?)
Im wondering if they will make the first ploy relationship with boimler mariner and jennifer where all three are together
I would love that!
Too wierd
@@mastermonarch why?
@@mastermonarch andorians have four genders, polyamory is built into their whole society
it would be on brand for lower decks to boldly go where no star trek show has gone before, but at least for this combination i would hope no, simply because i don't want Boimler and Mariner to end up together, even if it's in a thruple. It's just such a cliche, we'll likely gonna get Tendi/Rutherford, so i hope Boimler and Mariner both find someone outside their original friends group.
I'm sorry they blocked it. I'd have loved watching it. Jen is my favorite side charactere!

It ended in pain.
When Beckett first said ‘Jennifer’, I thought she was using the name in the same sort of way somebody calls someone ‘Karen’.

@@bmyers7078 yeah, like that but Beckett and Jennifer.
Why does Jennifer have a Human name?
Maybe it's actually Gnnyfur and we're hearing it wrong.
It's possible.
Maybe she was raised by humans?
Or maybe she just likes the name?
Who knows i mean it's better then what musk name his kid
Or her Parents just like human names. The same way kids from germany have english names, or kids from the us have french ones etc
Jennifer's first few frames are fuckin hilarious
For some reason an andorian named Jennifer it's just extra funny in my book
Jennifer is probably an Andorian, who was raised on Earth or in some Earth colonies, and have adapted to Earth culture as well
0:41
This is funnier now knowing that they're dating
I hate how they treated Mariner and Jennifer's relationship. They teased it so much in S2E10, gave us little tidbits in S3E3 and S3E6, and then just unceremoniously fucked it in S3E9 for... reasons. First proper lesbian relationship in Trek, and they screwed it up.
Fortunately, it seems this relationship is getting spotlight in season 5. Hopefully, they do not screw it up.
She moves Jennifer like i move PEDS in GTA who are not in my way! XD
Jen becomes Beckett's wife at the end of the series...

They give me Lumity vibes
when people try to force a shipping war and not realizing andorian families have two daddies and two mommies.
dubious canon sure (mentioned in one novel and nowhere else) but LD is legends of tommorow/sonic boom (the cartoon)-tier crazy enough to do it.
It comes up in a mission in star trek online, an Andorian during the discovery era brings up having a husband and wives back on Andoria. Another only seems to have only a wife but given that was in the “present” for STO and on a colony outside Andorian space so he might not follow his people’s customs as closely as others of his species or the custom declined over time.
@@darman12able On the inconsistency, maybe while Polyamory is normal amongst Andorians, some are inclined to by Monogamous. Monogamy for Andorians may be a minority sexuality, just as polygamy is amongst humans
