Love your explanations. Especially the app of the airport. We live in Florida USA, and we have been to the Amsterdam airport, but I forgot it’s a lot of walking. My wife needs a wheelchair to get around so your app makes it easier so as not to get lost. And we have to meet our son, that’s flying on another airline, in the central Plaza. Your ab recommendation helps us do that. Thank you so much.
Those apps looks very helpful especially that transportation app! It looks like a very good idea to be able to use an app to pay for tickets, and I like that it is an official app. That way you know that it will work. I have Uber and Google Translate already which are great!
Thank you so much for this video, it’s super helpful! The one question I have is, I looked at the GVB app and it looks like it has a lot of bad reviews? Like people saying their tickets just disappear? Do you use this app a lot and have you personally had any issues with it?
Hi there! I dont use the app. Residents have a personal transit card with all the bells and whistles 😋 But you can still buy a paper ticket if you are worried about the app. Depending on how you are traveling, like if you are going outside the city, there are a few options you may want to know about: ua-cam.com/video/TZKW-gMCC5o/v-deo.html
thank god you can buy tickets on an app now. I'm always a bit confused about what ticket I need when I'm in Amsterdam. do you just tap in/out like with the chipkaart?
If you buy an OV Chipkaart, you will have to pay for the card, which looks to be €8.50 now. But the ride costs will be the same. You pay a fixed base rate then by distance on both. Otherwise you can buy an hour ticket or day ticket which includes unlimited travel during its validity.
Using the GVB app ,if I buy 5 days 120 hours travel pass , will I be able to use the Bus 397 from Airport. and can we just use this as described in the app we just have to redeem the code in the phone itself that means when I land I can just redeem it using airport WiFi .and show the barcode or scan it directly in bus . I will be visiting on 21sept and it's my 1st time
Hi there. Bus 397 is not a GVB bus, so the app will not work for it. I made a video about how to get from the airport into the city: ua-cam.com/video/ChFsMxtpdns/v-deo.html I hope that helps you. I'm not sure about your other question but you can contact the GVB customer service on Twitter at @GVB_klanten. Have. Great trip!
It's more of of Amsterdam issue, so Utrecht should be fine. If you Google "Amsterdam airbnb crisis" or something similar, you'll find lots of articles. The short version is that people are renting to tourists instead of people who live here which causes many problems like overtourism, noise, reduced livability, and lack of housing while the population is expanding.
Thank you for the nice tips, If you please I've two questions for you , Where to exchange notes for coins in the Netherlands? Are there any euro coin exchange machines ? Thank you, you are very friendly :)

I'm going to Amsterdam in a few days. Does the app ticket cover Zaanse Schans?
What about 9292?
There are so many possible apps. I tried to keep it small. CityMapper/Google maps is fine for 95% of the time in Amsterdam

As far as I know, there are QR scanners now installed for the tickets from the app.
@@aWanderlustForLife ah ok. I'm sure it'll be clear pretty quickly when we arrive. thanks
I DO love Rick Steves!!!!!

Does Iamsterdam have an app?
The city card does, yes. But based on reviews, It doesn't seem very helpful.
