    I know this is a bit old and some how basic stuff, but for me that i am learning 3DS it felt good to achieve some mechanisms of this software.
    Thanks

      Or get MilkShape 3D 1.8.5 it's much more easy to use and cheaper. Sample: gamebanana.com/maps/190119

      U can get a free "trial" if you are a student of any sort. Just google it :)

      I had taken video game design back in high school, and I my teacher tried getting his name down for us to get them.
      But no success.

      That's a bummer. Like 3 years ago I tried it and it worked perfectly for me, but now my trial is over :C

    My object is looking black on the inside. outer faces are ok but the after deleting the first top face it all went black on the inside.
    Any idea what may be wrong here?

      @Florencia Karita Yes I got it, if you change the mode to DX Mode and turn off the shadows you will get the results as shown in the video thus it says user defined

    isn't this a little high poly (un-optimised ) for a map prop ? , or is there going to be a normal map baking video?
    great video just watching it i couldn't help but feel the poly count being higher than what it needed to be , but as a video teaching tool application this is top notch

      Not - this is not supposed to be a game asset, though at ~1680 tris it would not be the end of the world. My plans for 3dsmax videos are to have a series of just basic intro videos that are not specific to game design. Just teaching how to use the program. Then later on I can show in other videos how to make game related assets.

    • @Shorkyun
      @Shorkyun 7 років тому

      don't get my comment wrong Im loving the series I haven't used max in years and they're a really good refresher for me and I can see how they're good for learning the tools in max, I just wasn't sure if this was going to be a game ready asset pipeline kinda series so questioned the polys.
      you're right that isn't alot of polys just like I say I haven't used max in ages back in a time where 5k tris for a weapon was "high poly" :)
      can't wait for the next one

    youre videos have helped me a lot thank you so much. you explain it very effectively, if possible can you show how to make rubble from an explosion. there's a small chance you'll see this or do it but still a chance haha

    also, you have your most used modifiers on top of the hierarchy and I don't, i always have to type in the name of the modifier and select it. how do i change this?

    Hi, thanks for sharing, I realise that this is old but I'm just starting out in 3dsmax and was wondering how you extruded along the X &Y axis @01:10 in the video. I was following along but nothing happened when I "shift & drag". Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

    • @TopHATTwaffle

      Make sure that you change to scale tool while in the edge mode.

      @@TopHATTwaffle Thank you for your reply, as mentioned above I followed the tutorial to the letter but nothing happened when trying to extrude in X&Y. Are there any settings that need to be setup prior to following this? Many thanks. Im using 3dsmax 2021 if this helps.

    when you create primitives and drag, your objects is created from the center point. when I drag the object forms from a corner? how do i change this?

    silly and late question, but how are you extruding 'on the fly' like that? did you custom bind it to a key?

    • @TopHATTwaffle
      @TopHATTwaffle  4 роки тому

      Shift + Drag on an open edge will extrude another edge. To quickly extrude faces I use a hotkey.
