a great tutorial because it doesn't fall into the trap of only teaching you how to do the very specific subject but teaches you enough to figure out how to do more yourself
I like how you go over important fundamentals in this. the 0, 0, 0, coordinate placement with right-clicking spinners and then, always making sure the swift loops are centered on object.

my first day in modelling in max after coming from maya as i need to learn both and must admit max has far better modelling tools.......well done CGI....
i cant right click in the menu bar at the top on "pivot point center" or open any menu from it. i see in the right bottom corner a white triangle(for more options) but i cant open anything....

One question, if you know: Is there a way to change the "Edged Faces" color line (when pressing F4)... mine are black, but I noticed on your tut. that your are almost the same color of the object. Just looks cooler.. Been looking all over the internet but can't find a straight answer.. Thanks and all the best!
Sorry that it's 2017 and I necro comments but try bumping your weld threshold up a bit (to 1.0ish), as you may not have gotten the verticies close enough.
Maybe someone can find this usefull. At 7:43 remember to press ctrl while clicking on Vertex. I got crazy because I wasn't pressing ctrl so I wasn't able to weld the vertices :)
nice video. Do you know how i save in 3d max files png or jpg in resolution 300 because when i save this kind of file in 3d max the size is correct but the resolution is always 72 and i want 300 how i can do that? thank you very much for your videos.
Starting at 14:00 how are you pulling out the polygons on the side of the chest away from the other ones? I'm trying to do that and other parts of the mesh are deforming. What shortcut key are you pressing? Thanks.
Can anybody help me out with this? At around 13:58 he starts pulling out polygons, like extruding but it doesn't make more it just changes the dimensions of others? Well I do that and the ones near it move and are attached if that makes sense?
After converting to editable poly, when I try to scale the two edges, they deform the complete box instead of moving the two edges aside equidistantly ... Need help

If the segments are not visible just press F4 they will pop up.

When I weld the surfaces together, the line on the sides dont disappear, any ideas why? thanks

Did you ever figure this out? I'm stuck deforming as well (using 3ds max 2018 student) I cannot for the life of me find the "Scale" button v frustrate
just click and drag the y axis and not from the centre of the scale widget
