- Dune Prophecy Episode 6 / Season One Finale “"The High-Handed Enemy," Full Spoiler Review! Not only did this episode somehow accomplish everything it needed to in order to be a satisfying finale with SO many loose threads from the Season going into it, It accomplished it all very smoothly while setting up a wonderful kick off to Season 2 (Just confirmed by HBO this week). Really ended up enjoying this show, in large part because of this finale.

I love Denis Villeneuve’s world Dune, his two installments to date are amongst my favorite Sci-Fi of ALL TIME. Admittedly I don’t know Frank Herbert’s worlds of Dune, much less Brian Herbert’s (which this series I apparently based on.) So I’m going into this blissfully as a casual fan. Someone who adores the story in the medium of FILM who has ever intention of reading at least the original books - so you have some context where this review is coming from.
And I have to say, so far - so good. Overall. The world building and production design are next level. The casting and the acting are TOP NOTCH. But it’s not without its flaws, so far it has some pacing issues for me, and moments feel a bit clunky/clumsy at times. But all of that could EASILY fade as the story unfolds. I’m definitely in. What do you think of DUNE PROPHECY so far?

Dune: Prophecy is an American science fiction television series developed by Diane Ademu-John and Alison Schapker for HBO. Set in Frank Herbert's Dune universe, the series focuses on the origins of the Bene Gesserit, a powerful social, religious, and political force whose members possess superhuman powers and abilities by undergoing years of intense physical and mental conditioning. Dune: Prophecy is positioned as a prequel series to the 2021 Denis Villeneuve film Dune, which adapts the first half the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, and takes place some 10,000 years before the events of the film. The series, which draws on, but is set after, the Great Schools of Dune novel trilogy (2012-2016) by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, is produced by Legendary Television, with Schapker serving as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.

Fav scene was probably Valya using the Voice on the soldiers. And then seeing "folding space" with the heighliner at the end. So great!
Damn it what a explosive ending. Tabu's character didn't deserve to die. Damn it. When it comes to Desmond Hart he is a victim and didn't deserve that kind of suffering at the hands of the machine.
I thought this was a very good season finale and I am definitely looking forward to season 2. After watching Travis Fimmels one eye twitch all season long that was some pay-off on that front. It's a miracle Desmond has sane moments at all after what he has been put through. I am not looking forward to my next eye appointment.
This show is definitely a good place to introduce casual viewers to the weirder concepts that we are going to see in Dune: Messiah and any future films after that (i.e. shape shifters and being possessed by dead ancestors).
Keep in mind, always, that these are human beings in OUR galaxy.
I’ve read every one of the 20+ books and I’d say this series is a pretty good version of this trilogy. They condensed the Harkonnen siblings’ stories, but the feeling is right on. I think having an Atreides/Harkonnen child much earlier in the timeline is a great idea. Really enjoy your commentary.
Appreciate that Man! And thanks for the brief book reader insights
Agreed…. They definitely stuck the landing. Looking forward to season 2.
Congrats on the 40k. Really enjoy the energy you put in your reviews. As an avid Star Wars fan and casual dune fan, I can relate with what you say! Keep up the good work and here’s to the next 40k!
Thanks so much! And yesss glad it’s resonating!
‘Choose…’ ❤❤
I don't understand how this wondrous series could be so panned by many reviewers. Every moment was time well spent 🧡🖤🧡🖤
i am enjoying the series, and enjoyed your review commentary, spot on, thank you
Amazing last two episodes! So glad to see some of the cool dune things I love like face dancers and sisterhood abilities get some screen time. Great acting and composition
What a GREAT episode !!! Can’t wait for season 2 🐛 🏄🏼♂️
Just caught up on the finale now since I was away on vacation. I thought it was excellent and really brought everything from the season together in a satisfying way. It's an interesting world because everyone is either downright evil or compromised in some way, and it would be a terrible world to live in, but you still care because everyone has complex motivations and the world fits together in really interesting ways.
This episode was phenomenal. Packed with excitement and intrigue, as well as putting pieces together and setting them up for moving forward.
i am wondering if medical just pulls out desmonds 3ye the machines will be removed and he will again be normal soldier, i cant wait for season 2,
What were the drives that Lila was looking at halfway through the episode that seemed to be erased by the sister supreme. Great season
I agree that it was a spectacular finale (season not series) bringing all of the very Dune themes, concepts and story-telling (political machinations & intrigue, body/mind self-control, deeply intertwined storyline threads...) into play.
The performances were one of the absolute highlights of the season overall for sure.
Thanks for your energy, mindfulness and enthusiasm in exploring these stories we love to get lost in. Huge congrats on crossing the 40K mark Coy!
Until this moment, it never occurred to me that the prophecy could be speaking of Lila instead of Desmond. Lila, like Desmond, has been "twice reborn"...
:) right! A lot going on there. Many parallels and intrigue
I absolutely loved the show and I’m already missing it.
Man-oh-man! I could poke so many holes in this, but the acting SHEESH! It was really brought in this episode so I totally just accepted whatever my quibbles were. It truly brought it home.
nipple chills
The show follows the book, "Sisterhood of Dune", very, very loosely. But I enjoyed both the series & the book, even though they're not the same story at all.
😎
first 😨
Very messy finale with idiotic actions taken by the characters.
Nice try, but ahow is still shit
