John Butler jumped at the chance to give something back at the Wave Aid benefit concert held in Sydney in January 2005 for victims of the Boxing Day tsunami.
The group joined a host of Australia's frontline acts including iconic political musicians Midnight Oil and Silverchair to raise money and awareness for the plight of hundreds of thousands of people caught up innocently in possibly the world's largest natural disaster.
The Wave Aid Tsunami Relief Concert, co-organised by John Butler's manager Phil Stevens, raised over two million dollars and this figure continues to grow through DVD sales. (From www.johnbutlertrio.com)

That's what it's all about right there! The musicians are loving every minute of being up there, everyone in the crowd is on their feet and singing along and all hate and desire has gone out the window! Who cares about the music (even though it's bloody brilliant) The vibe in general is what's up! It almost brings a tear to my eye just out of happiness! :D

Just recently got into John Butler and I can't believe I never heard of him before now. This guy is amazing. This is one of my favorite songs. I also LOVE his cover of Get Up Stand Up.
Even as a concert, they play as their album version. they are not good, they are PERFECT

It's an electric acoustic, so it's a regular acoustic but with a microphone or a pickup inside it somewhere (see the lead sticking out of it), which then gets run through an amp. Any guitar would need amplified to work in a setting like this, but even though it's got an acoustic body it still works the same way as an electric and can be run through an overdrive pedal or whatever else he fancies

Apples and oranges with SRV and Hendrix, but if you haven't already listen to his instrumental Ocean. He's without a doubt one of the best to play the 12 string man.

a lot of (almost all) finger style guitar players do this. they're actually fake acrylic nails that he puts on. just for picking. helps soooo much. i never play with a pick anymore.
