  • During the railroad boom in Vermont's history, the people of Windham County hatched a plan to establish a railroad that would stretch from Brattleboro to Whitehall, New York. They were only able to construct a portion, and the railroad became known as "36 miles of trouble", with a history of derailments.
Vermont Historical Society Executive Director Steve Perkins and ABC 22 & Fox 44 Anchor Mike Hoey stop by the Historical Society of Windham County's West River Railroad Museum to learn more about its story.
This Place in History is produced in partnership by ABC 22 & FOX 44 (www.mychamplainvalley.com) and the Vermont Historical Society.
