It was such a mellow place just hanging out there made me feel the same way this song does. Dan once said, "If I think I could only have written one song in my life it would have been "Leader of the Band" because what that meant to my father and to me, there's no way I could quantify that or even explain it. My father passed away over 10 years ago now, and he got to hear that song. He got to enjoy the success of that song. People were calling him on the phone and interviewing him in his last days, you know, who is this man, the leader of the band, you know? And he just, he loved that and I loved that, because I respected him so much, I mean he gave me everything I am really. My mother and he were both musicians and the idea of being a living legacy is really the truth. I don't think I'll ever be as accomplished a musician as he was, but I've had a different gift, it came to me in a different way. I've been able to reach and touch people with these songs that I write and that one has probably touched more people more deeply than anything I've ever done"

My Celtic harp teacher Phil Boulding, of Magical Strings, and his wife Pam were guest musicians on track 3, "The Minstrel", of Dan's 1993 River of Souls album. Small world. Anyway, you are a terrific musician. Keep up the excellent work; it's a joy.

Just a few factoids, for those who like history. This song was written for his father, LAWRENCE FOGELBRRG who was the band and music director of 2 high Schools and one university, BRADLEY U. IN PEORIA, All in Illinois. I was happy to learn, that this song was released while his father was still alive !!! I can only imagine what his Daddy thought of it ? Sadly Dan died in 2007 at age 56 from prostate cancer. Hope ya all don't mind the Bio, thank you again , sweetest of girls, for carrying on the legacy. It's a tribute to you and the artist, WELL DONE !!! ❤
