In the book Claudia was 5 yrs old when she became a vampire. And since vampires are basically sentient, animated corpses Claudia’s body didn’t age but her mind did. She had the mind of a woman trapped in a 5 year old’s body & it eventually drove her crazy

"They're key to the plot" well yes, for the first time actually lol. Claudia seeing an adult female form, something she will never experience forever trapped in a child's body. A significant realisation for her and her character development.
I wish they had immediately done The Vampire Lestat, he's actually not an a-hole and his powers go way beyond anything seen in this movie. In the books, his powers are insane because he went through hell, literally. He was born in 1760, the son of a French noble and, as a human, single-handedly killed a pack of wolves. Lestat's mother becomes a vampire too, he also started the theatre des Vampires.
It would have been perfect! And Interview was a cultural phenomena at the time so I don't know why they didn't. Maybe it was just too gay for the times.
@@vanyadolly They kind of did with Queen of the Damned. But it wasn't done properly. It takes some parts of The Vampire Lestat and QOTD books. It was rushed and they left so much out. It still was a decent movie but it could have been so much better.

Tom Cruise killed this. He read all the books and kept them on the set for reference. He IS Lestat! The second book is Lestat’s story, and Cruise pulled on that back story for his performance. Initially, Anne Rice was upset at Cruise being cast. But when she saw his performance, she took out an ad in the newspaper to apologize for criticizing him and said he was perfect as Lestat.
This movie is a masterpiece in my opinion. Easily one of the best vampire centric films. To answer your question about why they can’t cut hair or change, think of these vampires as statues. Stuck in the image they were created. The cast killed it in this movie! Especially Tom as Lestat and Kirsten as Claudia. For her age she was captivating in her performance. Tom really enjoyed the source material and just went with it in such a natural way. Brad was great as well but he had issues with the filming so he always seemed conflicted in his performance which was perfect for Louis as a character.
Its well established in the books that vampires cannot have sex. So every romantic relationship is more like a companionship and not really physical. So vampires dont really care much about age, gender or anything else. For example in the books Lestat made his mother into a vampire and they were together for years. It sounds really weird but the books do a good job of explaining it
This is my FAVORITEEEEEE Tom Cruise performance. Everyone is such a fan of his action movies but this one shows his range and how good of an actor he is too
The books give you so much more to the story, but this is a fine fine adaptation. Fun fictional fact, Lestat was the founder and benefactor of the Vampire Theatre in Paris (his dream was always to be an actor /performer and Tom Cruise played him with the theatrical zeal that he would have had in life/death) Lestat gave these vampires a home and purpose and they all knew him. Lestat came from French aristocracy and he was born wealthy. Also, at this point Lestat knew the secrets and origins of the vampire...but was sworn to secrecy... And how it all tied back to prehistoric Egypt and Enkil and Akasha who were possessed by the blood demon Azril? (I think) Also, Lestat survived the assassination attempt by Claudia because he had been given Akasha's blood, so he was an extremely powerful vampire...

I thoroughly enjoyed watching you react to it and I totally agree when you said you could watch this movie on repeat, I've been doing that my whole life and I have never got bored of it 😄
The best scene in this film is when Tom comes back from the swamp. It is the anticipation and tension as he plays the piano, obscured by the lace curtain. His speech is haunting. And then, we see his horrible, distorted face as he says, "Claudia....you've been a very, very, naughty...little...girl". And then...POUNCES on them. Great scene!
Generally speaking, I’ve always assumed the reason victims didn’t feel the vampire’s bite was because the vampire’s saliva contained some sort of anesthetic like a mosquito.
This is a whole book series called The Vampire Chronicles written by Anne Rice. I highly recommend reading the series. It's one of the best stories written in our time.
I read the books long before the movie. And when I heard Tom Cruise was cast as Lestat, I was doubtful that he could do it. Then when I watched the movie, I realized that he was perfect for the role.

Regarding the "broke vampire" comment, Lestate is broke the entire movie. Lestate lived off Louie. The mansion Louie set fire to belong only to Louie. The hotel where the prostitutes were killed was paid for by Louie. In the book, after making Louie into a vampire, Lestate moved his father into Louie's house. Lestate genuinely liked Louie, but he took full advantage of Louie financially, in my opinion

Yes! Such a great movie and I think what added to the horror was the very non-human aspect of the vampires; we see just how far into their evolution of being “creatures of the night” has come and it’s terrifying because they still look pretty human like, yet are so monstrous.

I’m so glad you reacted to this one (and loved it). This movie is top tier! Everything is so well done. Kirtsten Dunst delivers one of the best child actor performances I’ve ever seen and Tom Cruise absolutely crushed his role as Lestat! It’s not an actual sequel, but the director did a lesser known vampire move that I feel is very much in the same vein (pardon the pun) called Byzantium, and I definitely recommend it.
It's great to see you! The UA-cam algorithm has not been alerting me to your videos. I remember this video coming out! I read all the books and I went with a bunch of friends who came to the movie dressed as vampires. love this movie.

Lestat is always hated but he is just going with the flow of what he is! The sequel to the first book Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, gives a more sympathetic insight to his character. He is my favourite in this universe. I adore this movie! My favorite character is the vampire Armand played by Antonio Banderas. Please watch him in the action packed Desperado from writer/director Robert Rodriguez.
My all time favorite vampire movie. Your reaction was absolutely hilarious from the rat drink, Detroit, dogs dying, etc. phenomenal. Tom Cruise was praised by Anne Rice when she was fiercely against him being cast as Lestat. The second movie is horrible. The new series isn’t bad. I do t mind the differences from the book, and it also got Anne and her sons Christopher’s approval before she passed. You should check it out!
Remember, Claudia is a 30 year old woman by the time she finds out they turned her into a vampire/ a mind like a five-year-old child .I believe Kirsten was 12. fabulous performances. Also, a very young Leonardo DiCaprio was supposed to play the interviewer, but turned it down and it went to River Phoenix, who sadly passed away 😢

I loved the book, and thought the movie was lacking alot of details. Still, the production value, and everything are great. I don't usually like Tom Cruise's acting, but he is good in this film. Brad Pitt was nice to look at in this movie, lol.
Definitely check out the books. They're a fun read. There's a sequel movie, Queen of the Damned, but it's pretty far off the source material. Also gotta recommend the Interview with the Vampire tv series that just came out, which gives it a bit of an updated timeline and reimagining.
Back when this was released, there was a loud opinion that Tom Cruise wasn't the right choice for Lestat. I can say he really pulled off the roll. I've read all of the books that came out before 2010. He did fine. Love that you told that person to kiss the booty. We come here because we like you, always be true to yourself and keep ignoring bad suggestions.
In Anne Rice's books, vampires are essentially "frozen" at the time they turned. Physically they are unchanging in every way. Hair, body, etc: its all stopped at the moment of change.

One of the best vampire movies of its time and was done very well. The cast was also perfect.
Thanks for the reaction. This is one of my fav movies. Its such a unique and haunting film. Kirsten Dunst's performance is incredible.
8:35 "Steak N Shake did that to me once..." Why can't I upvote this more than once?
12:03 "The Colonel never did, you good bro..."
They are the funniest lines I've heard in forever!
You gotta love J...he is giggling about Twilight vamps BEFORE the movie has even started!😂😂
This is gonna be a ride!
Personally the Ann Rice novels I have read were enjoyable.
Much love from Oregon EOM fam!☺💚
"All I need to find you Louis is follow the corpses of rats."
"I halfway expected rats to pop up & start dancin with em!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯
I'm so glad you enjoyed this! One of my fave movies, and one of the best vampires series.
Ongo Gablogian when seeing the thumbnail to this reaction: "That I love... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. I want it. It's everything".
If you like this era Brad Pitt, you need to check out Legends of the Fall...I think you'd enjoy it.
Love your reactions!
One thing I think is Lestat is kinda like the Jack Sparrow of vampires; just like almost all the pirates hated Jack, almost all vampires can’t stand Lestat, cause he screwed all of them over multiple times.
Heck yes, Murder Whistle! Get the co pilots ready for this one.
No spoilers but LOVE this react!
I really enjoyed Byzantium so much!
Laughing at the dark humor of dancing with the mother reminds of the Soprano's. Chrissy's intervention. Top 5 funniest thing I've ever seen.
It's great to see you! The UA-cam algorithm has not been alerting me to your videos. I remember this video coming out! I read all the books and I went with a bunch of friends who came to the movie dressed as vampires. love this movie.
So glad you liked it j!! One of my all time favorites!! Brad and Tom together were amazing.
this is maybe tom cruise's best performance. absolutely chews the scenery every moment he's on screen.
32:09 The vampire show in France is based on an actual show that existed called the Grand Guignol, which was in France and began towards the end of the Victorian era. It showcased what was basically erotic adult entertainment and heavily featured nudity, dark humor, and horror and ran for many many years.
Great reaction!
*LOVE* this movie!
The phenomenal soundtrack by *Elliot Goldenthal* was nominated for the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.
48:00
Absolutely. Thank you for letting us join you 💙
River Phoenix was supposed to play Christian Slater's role.
Kirsten Dunst *crushed* this part...and it is one of Tom Cruise's best performances.
13:51 “Why they in that Detroit bathroom from Saw?” You had me cracking up the entire time I was watching. 😂😂
Lestat is always hated but he is just going with the flow of what he is! The sequel to the first book Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, gives a more sympathetic insight to his character. He is my favourite in this universe. You got what Lestat was about and you're right, Tom Cruise was amazing in this role, can't imagine anyone else playing Lestat 👏👏 ps what kind of person says "don't thank them all blah blah blah!" It's great that you appreciate and acknowledge the people who turn up to enjoy your reactions and banter. Brings joy to my day thats for sure! Keep on doing what ye doing 💝
Poor Daniel, once he realized he didn't want to be a vampire, Lestat showed up. I love this movie, one of my favorites for sure
I haven’t even watched this yet and I already clicked “Like”.
I remember when it was Interview with a Vampire.😵💫
Had a ball watching this with you..I forgot how funny it was..one of my favorites ❤😂
You are the coolest black man in the universe
Anne Rice is my favorite author, and her vampire universe is my absolute favorite. None can top her.
Gotta put this up on the big TV!
LMAO "I half expected rats & shit to pop up and start singing with them" I'm 💀🤣
You be killing me with your comments " Tom Cruz pick up line to women" & the reaction to the coffins " Can we get a CA Queen or something "😂
“Oh he made a monster”
That’s putting it mildly 😅
I didn’t know this was the video for today but I’m so excited. This made my week
Vampire in Brooklyn is one you should watch 😊😅😅
Got my sandwich, I'm ready. I predict a few "shuddups" tonight 😂
I adore this movie! My favorite character is the vampire Armand played by Antonio Banderas. Please watch him in the action packed Desperado from writer/director Robert Rodriguez.
Antonio is deliciously creepy as Armand, but completely different from the book version - who is a teenaged boy 😅
Such a gorgeous film to lose yourself in 🥀 so glad Jay got to see it
Hey jay,,I wanna recommend a very popular underrated vampire movie from the 90s. It is called innocent blood and it is from the year 1992. Trust me, you will absolutely love this movie.❤
Wildly underrated vampire comedy.
@@LordVolkov right
Great movie really is. Brit Pitt characters is great so is Tom too. Love them together
So you got Stoker vampires, Rice vampires, Sparkly vampires (Twilight), Masquerade vampires (rpg), & Chinese hopping vampires.
And people have OPINIONS about vampires! We’re talking StarWars/LOTR fandom levels of toxicity opinions.
This movie along with Blade, and Lost Boys make up the holy trinity of vampire movies
😂😂😂😂😂 “The Colonel never did”
Everytime it's on, i have to watch. One of my fav performances by Cruise and Pitt.
In Anne Rice's books, vampires are essentially "frozen" at the time they turned. Physically they are unchanging in every way. Hair, body, etc: its all stopped at the moment of change.
Got my popcorn ready 🍿
