These old 40s cars are the ultimate. They remind me of one the most interesting quotes I heard from a little kid. A fellow I worked with once told me of taking his young son to a car show that had a lot of cars like this and cars from the 60s which were quite square and ‘boxy ‘. He said that his son noticing the cars went from streamlined rockets to square shoe boxes and asked “ What happened dad, did we get stupid? “. ( ‘ we ‘ meaning people in general )

Nope. Government interference over "safety" regulations, mostly. Although utilitarian designs had their market, you'll never see elegant shapes such as this again. The last era was probably the late 60s for that type of design.

@@boilerhousegarage yes, horribly unfortunate. These car companies as well, like to hide Automobiles before this, lie that the only ones were the Model T.

By the way, don't ever change how you advertise your brand. No one could do it as well as you do it yourself. Your'e style of advertising is pure entertainment. It's familiar, and it's time spent with a friend.

what I like best about Icon is that it is a direct reflection of Jonathan. In the videos you can hear and feel the enthusiasm for each project come through loud and clear.
The question I have had for a while is, "why not expand operations so the time a project takes can be significantly reduced?" Is it lack of qualified labor? A desire to keep the cars exclusive??
the world would be a better place with MORE Icons in it...
    thanx JW for caring....

Beautiful job on this old Oldsmobile. I love the interior sand the motor and chassis setup. You’ve done a very masterful job for your client! Personally, I like to see the exterior painted and gleaming as well, but I get the sleeper concept and it’s very popular currently. Well done!

My first car (purchased from a friend's mom for $25.00) was a 1948 68 series fast back Olds. This exact same car, straight 8, fast back, hydramatic. In fact, it was the green that you can see peeking through the gorgeous patina. Needless to say, this build is just beyond my wildest dreams. Thanks Jonathan, as always, for what you do and the wonderful videos!

I LOVE how you did the interior and dash. They were works of art, and instead of loading it up with billet you made it functional but attractive! The lines and patina of the body are amazing, and I'll bet that 502 makes other drivers pay attention. Guess I'll have to wipe the drool off my monitor now!

My grandfather, who immigrated from Italy in 1909, finally settling in San Francisco, owned one of these. It was green. He bought it new in 1946 and owned it for about 30 years, selling it just before he died in 1977. I remember going for rides to the grocery store when I visited my grandparents as a kid. He didn't call it a car, he called it "the machine". He was fastidious in the car he took of that Oldsmobile. It was in amazing condition and watching your video brought back a lot of great memories. Especially seeing the interior. Thanks.

What a treat to see that car again! My Grandfather had one just like it in Michigan during the late 50s, early 60s. I used to drive it to work when one of my hot rods broke down. The interior brought back so many memories. I am not so much a fan of the distressed exterior and would prefer to see a shiny modern paint job but hey, different strokes and all that.
