The part after he says, “let's go outside,” when he raises his tone to say, “in the sunshine,” always sends a shiver up my spine-a devastatingly good singer.
As you know he was arrested for inappropriate sexual acts in public place in April 1998 and for hitting on a male undercover FBI-agent. A few months later he wrote this song, Outside, and made this video, which was released in October 1998, in which he basically says "F... you cops and authorities for your hypocrisy. I'm a human being and have the right to be who I want to be". He surely made his point. The song says it all. He basically didn't give a f... about the incident, and this video and the song even made him more popular.

My mum is a HUGE George Michael fan and I was more of a grunge rock guy but when he released this song and just poked fun at himself I immediately admitted to my ma that she picked wisely in her choice of favourite musical artist. Also his cameo in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchants Extras when he came on smoking a spliff with a kebab in hand. There's also the amount of money he would regularly give to charity anonymously which only really came out after he'd left us.
He's someone who definitely deserves the Hollywood movie treatment that Freddie got.
