I would do the shelf and get a magazine holder to hold them . That way when you start paper crafting , you can grab the magazine holder and put it on your desk and it’s in your face.
Suzanne Beyer this is exactly the suggestion I was going to make 😁
This is exactly what I would do. I bought some of these from amazon to organize my bigger sets of dies. :)
Exactly what I am thinking 😁
That’s how I store my sorted scraps, in plastic pouches in magazine holders, it seems to work for me real well.
I immediately thought of a magazine holder.
I love option 2 if you have the space. Having them on display serves two purposes. First, they are a pretty pop of color and I love color! Second, having them in front of you will inspire you and encourage you to use them more.
Definitely agree 👍👌🌹
I organized all of my scraps into color categories a couple of months ago and it's one of the best things I've done in organizing my craft room! I put different color groups in plastic baggies and they are stored in a dollar tree basket. I'm now easily able to reach down below my desk and grab whichever color I need and it saves me so much time and I use up so many more scraps this way 😊.
Sounds perfect! Super functional!
I like the hanging options because it’s visible and you can continue adding new scraps. 👍🏾
Good point!
Use option 1 takes up less space. Make a habit of grabbing them when you craft.
Use option 2 to display your favorite creations or inspirations that may change as you grow in your art.
Definitely the Bar!! They are so pretty 💕
Right?!? Love the colors!
Love it!! 😍 They are so close when you need a scrap. Thank you so much for sharing your work 😊
Thanks for watching!
Great Crafty minds think alike! I started this two years ago, and must say that it works out great. I originally bought the plastic storage pockets (the same ones you bought at the Dollar Tree) for storing projects and my basic cardstock scraps, such as white, cream, ivory, black...the project pockets were for long on-going projects like a mini album I was working on. They were such a big help in staying organized. You can also buy them in multiples on Amazon. Mine came in different colors. These are a fabulous way to stay organized.
Another option is :
Another thing I bought on Amazon are clear A-7 size plastic (soft...but sturdy) envelopes that snap shut. There is ample room in each and you can easily fit in 8.5 x 11 cardstock plus items from paper collections, such as chipboard pieces, ephemera, ribbon, etc. I use these for a couple of things.
1. Storage for kits, such as CARD KITS from Spellbinders, Simon Says Stamp. Etc. Then when the kit dwindles down, I sort things out into other categories such as scrap paper, ribbon, flowers. Ephemera, die cuts, etc...
2. Current projects I'm on the middle of.
3. Scraps, ephemera, chipboard elements, decorations, bling, etc. that goes with a particular paper collection, THEN store this Envelope right beside your paper collection/pad, this way everything is together when your ready for it.
3. If a paper/cardstock pad doesn't come with any other products, create your own, gathering from your stash, put the items in your envelope and store with that pad. I.e. Washi tape, Ephemera, die cuts, Coordinating cardstock, ribbon, flowers, bling, etc.
Happy crafting!
So many great suggestions! Thanks for sharing 💕
I loved Option 2, great to see immediately what you have, and they look terrific. Thank you.
Thanks!
I like how your peg board looks organized but uniform as a colorful visual with the various items, so I like option one for the paper as I like things to look less “cluttered” and I find scraps to have a cluttery feel.
I need to sort my craft stuff and I’m definitely going to be moving my scraps into pockets like this, but I need to put mine directly with my cardstock, I’m horrible for grabbing a full sheet when i want a color and forgetting to even check for scraps that would work, so my pockets will be dividers between my full sheets to remind me to check there first.
That’s a great idea to keep them right with the card stock as a reminder to grab for scraps first!
Great idea! I like option #1, uses less space but I would go one step further and put them in a paper/magazine holder, that way they won't be floppy falling over and you can grab the whole container at once and bring it to your work space. Hope you understand what I'm describing!! I keep my scraps in a plastic 6 drawer file that has colored handles which tells me what color is in each drawer, love this system!
I like them tucked away on your shelf.
I have something similar....I love the way you added pockets...that way those pieces don't get lost.😃
Yup, I definitely don't want to lose all those tiny pieces!
I kind of like the wall idea. That way you are reminded of what you have.
I ended up going with the shelf storage just to save space. Still easy to grab though!
I like both ideas! Congratulations on your reorganization!
Thanks!!!
Thank you for sharing. I love this! Right now my scraps go in a box and that’s where they go to die because I don’t want to dig through them looking. I love this. Thank you again.
It’s so hard when they are boxed! Nobody wants to dig when they are creating!
I like displaying them..outta sight outta mind....seeing them would help remind you to use them!😊
So true!
Wow those adhesive clear pockets would come in handy - never seen them yet!
They come out in the Target Dollar Spot every July, and I always try to grab them up!
That’s just ingenious and accessible, not pricey but also more accommodating to personal tastes in organizing. Thank you so much for sharing!
You are very welcome - it is still working well for me two years later.
I like option 1 because it more condense and you can have more crafting things lol. Great idea!
Haha, there is always room for more craft items!!!
Option 1 - I like things out of the way when I'm scrapping. Limited space so I keep my scraps in a container that holds regular size envelopes. Each envelope has solid colored scraps of one color and another has printed scraps. All are cut down to 4.25" x 5.5" since this is the size card I work with.
Option one is best. Takes up less room and leaves the wall for shelving. Great idea.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing the ideas on organizing scrap papers. I like the envelopes and pockets and I think a magazine holder on the shelf would be a good idea; handy and easily accessible.
I could not find the dry-erase pockets at Dollar Tree here, but I found them at a Target here. I had to go to two Targets to get the three different sizes of label pockets. I have all the supplies so I will start working on organizing my papers. Thanks again for your idea.
👍🏻
I liked option 2 . very useful tips and tricks.
Thanks for sharing the video.
Glad you liked it
I'd hang them as they're easily visible. If you're at all like me, very visual, that would help. You did say just sorting through them you got inspired! Love the clear pouches! Gotta get me some! Tfs
I’ve already used my scraps way more this week since they were organized!
love this idea. Hope I can find these items at my local stores. I think you should put them in whichever option is handy to when you are working at your desk. When you reach for paper they need to scream "look here first" not "yo over here". We aren't lazy but when crafting we do get into a flow and do not want that interrupted. If you do use the shelf I would suggest grabbing a magazine holder from the Dollar Tree or Ikea so that they are easy to grab as a group when your working. That way even if they are not as convenient as the bars you can just grab them before you sit down each time. That would free up the bars to hang other items you wish you used more often. It really comes down to what gets you using the wonderful item you already have. Now that your so organized you could even pre-make embellishments in specific colors so that you can save time when you do craft. I've even seen ladies make embellishemnts to give away for subscription goals or RAKs. Low cost extra special gifting because its made by you. Grats on 10k subbies.
Thank you 😍
Hello from Dallas. Exactly what I’ve been looking for, for weeks! I have a plan. Lol
Thank you! Thank you!
Yay!
Whee did you find the outside adhesive pockets
Definitely on the wall! Color is what inspires me and seeing the organized scraps by color would remind me to use them!
Color totally inspires me too ☺️
Hi I think opinion two is the best ! When your at your desk you can just look up and see what color you need instead of riffling through all of them on the shelf ! Just found your videos glad I did ! Thanks
👍🏻
Amazing, I love it and will try to find those small adhesive plastic pockets if they still carry them at the dollar spot at Target. Thank you so much for sharing this idea. I regret that I came across this video four years later but perhaps it will still be doable for me and others who are late in the action as well. Great job either way. Thanks again! And by the way, hi from New York. 😊
Thanks for watching and I am sure you will still be able to find the adhesive pockets.
This is perfect. Love option 2. It looks awesome. Thanks for the share.
Thanks for watching! Glad to have you here!
Number 2 is the best solution. You can see the colors better and move to the folders more quickly.
Thanks!
After watching this I immediately went to the closest Dollar Tree and bought those pockets! I only had two sizes of the adhesive pockets so I’m a bit limited on sorting. I will buy more of the adhesive pockets ASAP and fine sort more later. My scraps are so well organized so I know I will be using them more!!,
You will totally use them more. This has worked really well for me!
Love the hooks over a bar. Very inspiring.
I personally like option 2, it was nice to see the colors hanging from the wall.
👍🏻
I really like that idea for scrap paper storage, it’s contained, it’s pretty flat and neat . Great 👍🏻 idea. I like Both storage ideas, but I would go with the shelf storage. 😉
👍🏻
I would choose option one, looks neater. Wonderful idea to keep them in the envelopes.
It’s working well for me so far!
I just went shopping for 6 zippered plastic envelopes and another mesh magazine holder yesterday. Big plans for the coming weekend. Thank you again for the great tip.
So, I watched your video and was gung-ho to go get those pockets at Dollar Tree...but it had snowed (in April, yes) and I thought it would be foolish to head out, even though the roads weren't bad. Anyway, I remembered I had some pocket folders so I pulled them out to use in the meantime. I decided I liked them better as I could see more paper at one time, could organize light on one side, dark on the other. So , the next day I went to WMart and got more folders ( I liked the glossy paper ones) and bought them in colors matching the papers. I also bought black and white ones. The white ones I put washi tape on the spine to indicated the color scheme (multi-brights and light neutrals). Anyway, then I just tucked them in my cabinet and I feel so organized! Thank you for your inspiration :)
So glad that you have a system that works so well for you!
ohh myyy what an awesome idea... i love the small footprint in the craft room... i would go with them in the cabinet
I think the hanging is nice for access, but definitely want to try to stabilize the rings or it will be a fussy two-hand job getting the envelopes on and off. When you need more than one color, and to keep the folder upright, it might be good to have a small magazine holder (Dollar Tree slim container for papers) to hold them together on the shelf that you can bring to the table. Have a spot for scraps that need to be ‘filed’ because you likely won’t stop and sort every day (even one extra clear pocket folder) - keeps them contained till you can put them away.
I use the same system for all of my supplies - paper, stamps, embossing folders, scraps - because it really works! Basically it is the same style you showed with your stamps - items are filed behind each other with dividers. I can flip through, front to back or by section, and grab or file what I need. I have a pretty basket that is wide enough for a full sheet of paper. I put dividers in for the different colors, and then put the paper behind each divider. When I want a scrap, I just flip to the right section. Sometimes I pull out the bunch to try with my project. All sizes are together, as that is not usually how I would look for scraps. I keep “unfiled” scraps at the very front, so they are in the basket, but I can file them (easily) into the correct section when I have time.
I like the shelf. Or maybe near your other paper stash (non scraps) so when you are working on a project, all your paper is together. -Amanda
The shelf is where I keep my other paper, so that is definitely a good point!
Keep them out and visible - you’ll use them more 👍🏻
I think hanging, option 2, thank you for sharing it gives me an idea for my scraps.
Yay, glad the video helped!
Love those adhesive pockets!
Aren’t they cute? I always buy more around back-to-school time from Target.
I’m new to your channel and I’m really enjoying you work !!! 😀What a great system , choose what works for you . For me I’d have them in bookcase , but you may need that visual reminder 😃
Thanks for checking out the channel...glad to have you here!
1. On display, 2 next to your stamps 3 would be great for just cardstock scraps sitting on your cardstock pile. I have my cardstock on shelves above my workstation. I am going to see if these pockets fit. Also love the idea of the clear pockets on the front. Currently I use page protectors, but these look more sturdy. Thank you for your time and ideas!
Definitely sturdier than page protectors which I feel is better...will totally hold up to being moved around!
I love this Idea for being organized. I have to try both ways. i have alot of scraps. lol!TFS!
😂
I love option #2. Thank you. I will. See what my Dollar tree is carrying.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for this wonderful tip. I have two large boxes with scraps that I fight my way through when I need a coordinating colour, and don't know what the best way was to store them - I do now! I think option 1 stacked beside your stamps would be neater.
I prefer the first option, however having them close at hand is the key, so you reach for those first and use them! Thanks for sharing! I love the way you organized them!
Totally agree!
Thanks for sharing your process. I like the hanging option. It is colorful and keeps those scraps top of mind.
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video 💕
Both are great options, but being able to see them hanging is so inspiring! It would make me want to sit down and create something. 😀
Just walking by my room makes me want to create for sure!
great solution!, if Imay make a small suggestion, culled from totally tiffany, choose a minimum size of scrap that could be useful, and recycle anything smaller than that, so you don't end up w/tons of scrap in the 1st place, I would put them on the shelf, it looks better inmho, I organize scraps in a tiny file cabinet made for business cards I got from a clearance rack @ office depot, I think, it may have been Staples, though. or even the container store
Option II !! Your inspiration will continue! Once you find the right hooks they can be just as accessible.💕
Great idea for sorting out scraps. I use a cheap display book because we son't seem to have all these sticky back plastic folder in the UK but I can tape smaller bags onto the see through display pages for the smaller pieces of scrap. Thank you. Takes patience but worth it.
It does take patience, but I agree, totally worth it in the end.
I love this idea.... I would go with hanging them because anytime you can get things off your shelf and get them vertical to me it's a space saver and gives you more room on your shelf or other items and it makes a pretty Decor to me I love color! TFS Best Wishes Always Carmen
It’s true, going vertical is my best space saver for sure!
@@ScrappyWife what did you decide?.. did I miss it and I video?
Great idea. TFS I like option # 1 because you can store them in an organized way. I currently use the clear 12x12 pouches because some of my scraps are from larger sheets and I do not cut my papers down to fit, every little space on the paper will be used up. Sometimes I cut out tiny things. Have a wonderful day. 😊
Great idea! I have a scrap drawer and will definitely try this
Yay! Hope it helps!
Thank you so much for this organizing technique. I was sorting my scraps by size and never using them! Because of this wonderful Idea, I can find any color I want and make it the perfect size!
Glad it was helpful!
I organize my scraps almost the same way. Big pockets but without the smaller ones. I put them in a DollarTree dish rack next to my die cutting machine. I always need scraps for die cuts, so it works for me. Hanging them on the hooks would mean that I have to take them off the hook and put them back on everytime I need a scrap and I just don't have patience for that 😁 Tfs 👍❤
On the book shelf makes perfect sense and wisely uses space vertical space.
👍🏻
Love being able TO SEE what I have. Putting them on the towel rack would be my choice. Nice hack!!
Thanks! Seeing my supplies always inspires me💕
Great job! Love this! I like them both, if you use the bar you could also do miss stickers in the sleeves.
Great tip!
I like the idea of those pockets.
I was so glad I found them!
I love option#1 - on the shelf. You did a great job, and you have inspired me. Thank you!!
I'm so glad!
Thanks for sharing. I like your idea. I vote for option 1 to store them on the shelf.
What a great idea. I wish I could run out to the dollar store. 💕
Me too!!
I use filing sleeves in different colors for my plain scraps and put the red in the red etc. I don’t mixed the printed with the plain. I don’t use print paper unless I’m scrapbooking and then I mostly use full sheets. For card making I use my scraps all the time except for card base.
I really like the hanging system. It’s colorful and inspiring!! Going to totally copy this system!!!😜
I love the second option due you have the paper available and see the colors
They certainly add a strong pop of color!
I love the hanging method! Thanks for sharing!
I love both ideas! Your craft room is lovely so hanging them would add pops in f color.
I have a variation of option 1 myself. Nothing like the feeling when you find a perfect piece of scrap to use up! Almost makes the time spent saving and sorting the scraps worth it. :)
True!
Both ways are great... it would depend if you have wall space then in racks but in my case I would go with options of in shelf as I have limited wall space!! Great idea!!! I’m definitely going to do the same!!!
So far the shelf is working out great for me!
ScrappyWife yassss!!! You gained plenty of craft room real estate!!
This is amazing! I wish my dollar tree had the dry erase pockets
You can order online, but that would be in bulk...
i like the hanging because it pretty visual and on the shelf because it takes less space
I ended up going with the shelf storage!
Looks like a great solution for you. If you settle on putting them onto the shelf, maybe lay them on a side so they open toward you.
Good tip!
The shelf is the best use of space. The bars take up too much area. Use those for other things, like large punches or paper towels, trash bags. Hang tissue paper over the bottom bar to keep it from wrinkling. I like the folders for the paper scraps. I keep my sorted scraps with like colored paper so it's all in one place.
The shelf is working great!
On the shelf I think looks best😊
This is so nice! I really like the display hanging on the bar! I need to do some craft room re-organizing.... Perhaps I should re-review your craft room UA-cam video - lol
Haha, with a notepad! 😉
ScrappyWife - Exactly!!
GREAT idea!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
The shelf. Great idea
👍🏻
👍 display them. It looks nice.
i like the both ways, it really depends how much space you have . I keep my scraps in clear pockets together with the papers it is belongs to. thanks for sharing
👍🏻
This is a great idea! Having them in clear pockets allows you to see what you have (somewhat). And going on that same principle, I would choose to hang them to keep them more visible. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for checking out the video!
Love the slow motion
💕💕💕
Awesome idea. I think it looks good on display on the rails.
I think of you have them displayed you’ll be more inspired to use them. Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Im so doing this, , I cant waite to start this space saving idea, I hate to toss any scraps, great idea. thanks ,,,,,Ps I like the first idea you showed
Nice!
What a great idea!! I kinda of like the way they look hanging.
Good idea!! I would have painted the outside of the each folder the color of what paper that is in the folder.
👍🏻
Both ideas are lovely option one has my vote as I am always trying to clear the look of clutter
Yes, that totally is the less cluttered look!
Love it!!!
I would keep them on the shelf 🙂
That’s what I’m doing so far, and it is working well 😉
Love this idea
Very much liked this idea!
Glad you liked it!
Now that you’ve refreshed your memory as to what you have in your scrap files, my inclination would be to stash your pockets in proximity to your Full Sheets on a shelf as you’ve shown. I’m choosing that kind of option because I don’t have a craft room; just 3 shelves in my kitchen pantry!! The wall behind you at o.d. 10:28 already adds a touch of color, so displaying the packets really isn’t necessary.
Good suggestions.
Option one. Great idea.
Thanks!
Love your ideas. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
What a great idea!!!! Both options are great but I like 2 the best. Thanks so much!! Take care ❤️
I absolutely LOVE this idea! Best one I've seen!!❤
Wow, thank you!
