What a terrific idea to corral all those loose pieces of scrap paper! They drive me nutty. Now I can keep them together in a way I can easily retrieve them. Thank you so much!

I inherited my mom's art supplies. She did everything. She even wrote craft books. I'm still trying to combine and organize it all lol. She had an entire yarn store, a frame shop, decades of scrapbooking supplies, printed photography, and so much more. It's a lot of work.
Oh, sorry for your loss xx then you really know what Im talking about plus some!! for a minute there i thought my mum had a craft shop, in her house!! it is so much work, im still sorting after 2 yrs but im slow an old turtle lol hugs Donna
Thanks Sharon it was my mums I inherited when she passed away, she had the most beautiful paper collection and I have to do something with the scraps because they are so beautiful and I still use these little booklets even today 🐝🦋 hugs Donna
That’s a really great idea! I’ve got so many scraps, and they are all muddled up and I never look at them so they don’t get used. I love the idea of the little albums, and sorting the scraps according to theme. My studio needs a radical overhaul to sort the chaos, and this would be one way to begin! Thanks for sharing.
Gday Shoshi, how come we can't avoid those scraps hey? one things for sure that means were crafting!! have fun with your studio re-do Thx!♡ for tuning in and happy crafting 🦋 hugs Donna

Great !! I only wish that I have enough of these beautiful designers papers to use /have scraps ..... to make a book like you showed us !! thanks I loved those Japanese papers !!
Wonderful video on this subject!! I don't have available space for the containers you use, so I'll have to come up with another method. The scrap "tablet" is fantastic!! Thank you!
!! hi NG B !! thanks for your lovely compliment 🦋 I pop my little paper books in a draw they take up little space. as for the tubs i use you could grab a cardboard box and cut it down, cover it with printed or plain paper and you have a custom made & size storage box 🦋 cheers Donna
I love watching older crafting videos for ideas and useful tips that don’t seem to be in the mainstream of current videos. Sadly, many craft videos today seem to all be the same thing endlessly repeated. You, on the other hand, consistently have new creative ideas or refreshing ways to update older ideas. Thank you for sharing these clever ideas and useful tips and tricks. Have you ever used rubber cement to bind these booklets? In high school, many many years ago 😮, we used a similar method to make notepads to sell for a class project. If I remember correctly LOL they didn’t hold together well when removing sheets. Curious if the same thing happens with the duct tape?
hey Morgaine, thanks so much for your lovely compliment, I come from a creative family and love coming up with new ideas, they seem to come to me easily. I have used rubber cement type glue many moons ago...i don't use it now bc you need a thinner to clean up and if you don't it wrecks ya brushes. it's also not as easy to get and use for todays crafters, so i find it best not to use for our paper crafting. the duct tape holds together well enough if you apply it correctly, but a few pages here and there will come off but stay in the pad. The best glue to use is the 'padding compound' for tearing off pads or a pva glue ✨ ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna happy crafting
@@JunkJournalideas Thank you for the heads up on the rubber cement it’s been ages since I used it and had forgotten about the downside of clean up. Will give the duct tape a try LOL I have a bright neon pink roll at the moment from labeling moving boxes so should be interesting color to work with. I will also try some PVA glue. Your mom would be proud of you for all the incredible and creative ideas you come up with and even prouder that you share them with the world. My family wasn’t really crafty, a bit of practical sewing and my grandmother did a bit of crochet, so I depend on other crafters, like yourself, to inspire and teach me. Thus, card making, journals, and digital graphics are fairly new to me. Again, thank you for sharing!
I really like how your repurposed the ATC's, and how you made the black tape pretty! I would have loved to have seen you remove a paper from one of the pads, so we could see how it works. Thanks so much. Cheers!
!! hi Susan !! thanks so much for your support, your comments help me know what you need in the future. I didn't pul lout a page because i dint want to have a loose page hangin around, but now you mention it, it would have been good 🦋 cheers Donna

ArtCraftCrazy Thank you :). The frugal crafter used hot glue to make watercolor blocks and she used a silicone spreader to get it into the groves of the paper. Each sheet was easy to remove, too. Just wondering if you've ever tried that. I also like what you've done with the duct tape.
Hi @@stanky6261973 , no i have'nt tried the hot glue method. I have used a PVC glue and the proper bookbinders binding glue and I like both of those methods because they work really well. I'll have to go check that video out 🦋
Hi Donna I have been trying to sort my scraps for ages , Not happy with any of my organization, Your is Brilliant, for me I have to see it to use it making small note books is perfect, I have to ask what is the Smallest strip of paper do you keep? I find myself holding on to strips that are an 1" wide sometimes 1/2" if it's good paper,
!! hi Anna !! it's a goodie I still know where my little books are and use them to this day, they're fun to make and use. the 1" scraps, I know the feels lol I have a small box for those 1" pieces that are too pretty to throw away. if that little box gets too full i have to make the decision to get rid of some of it to make room for the best new little pieces coming through. 🦋 cheers Donna
Ann Alba Hi, I use piece of card about A6 size that is 1/4 of an 11 x 8.5 sheet and stick the thin strips diagonally across to make card mats. Usually use colours that tone well, but contrasts can work well and reds & greens are good for Christmas. Sometimes I only need a ribbon around these card mats with a small greeting and they are done. Other more muted ones I embellish a little more. I also use wider oblong pieces to make patchwork card mats and put them through an embossing folder to give a quilted effect - sometimes adding a white or black stitched effect around each little piece. Do try, very easy to do and I usually make them on a lap try during the evening while watching tv
What a great idea! I saw some BEAUTIFUL papers in your video! My Mom's craft room sits in boxes in 2 bedrooms! I feel overwhelmed to open them! One question, how does the paper pull out to be used? Do you only use them for writing lists and such on them? Or do they pull out? Thank you ever so much!
thanks a lot Traci, it sounds like your Mom had as much stuff as my Mum, god love them, I know what you mean about overwhelm! answer to how they pull out is, they release really easy just like a glued notepad from the store. I don't use them for writing, but you could if you stacked plain papers together for notes. I use them as scrap papers for collaging and little clusters, I pull out the sheet I want for the project and use it. Its a great way to keep the offcuts in a neat booklet rather than loose in a box (❁´◡`❁) 🦋 hugs Donna
Thank you so very much! I thought you used the papers for crafting. I just wasn't sure. Thank you for taking the time to share this and for replying! You inspired me. I started pulling out the boxes one by one and sorting them. I'm testing markers, adhesives to see if they still work and hopefully be next week I will be at the pad of paper making part! I cleared about half of one bedroom. Did you take everything out and then put items back in your area , or did you move them back in as you went? Thank you so much! The progress feels wonderful!

I prefer to store the inexpensive stuff in an inexpensive way. I sort scraps of designer paper and cardstock by size/color/theme and store the groups of paper scraps inside quart size and gallon size Zip Lock bags. And the bags of paper scraps are then stored in clean cardboard boxes saved from packages I have received from Amazon. The Zip Lock bags can be re-used many times before the zipping part disintegrates. And the cardboard boxes can last many years so long as they do not get wet and they can be recycled when no longer needed. The handmade embellishments I store in small boxes or old fruitcake tins labeled with permanent marker on pieces of painter's tape. Those labels are easily removed and replaced as the contents of the boxes and tins change. My storage method does not look pretty, but it costs very little, keeps the bits and pieces organized and, for me, works just as well as those expensive plastic containers and rolling craft carts.
!! hi Linda !! thanks for your idea's they're great. I pick up my containers on sale 50% or lower I'm a bargain hunter, I have so many recycled boxes as well, I have a video coming up i think you'll like, it's a perfect space saver too 🦋cheers Donna
@@AimzS94 I use adhesive magnetic sheets adhered to chip board sheets, stamp storage plastic sheets and expandable document folders inside three-ring binders to store sets of cling stamps and cutting dies. My homemade version, using supplies from Amazon, costs a lot less that the stamp and die storage binders made by Tonic Studios, Anna Griffin, etc. and keeps all those expensive cutting dies and cling stamps neatly organized in an Ikea book case.

@@AimzS94 !! hi AimzS94 !! great idea, i think all our craft rooms are a mess, organised caos lol 🦋 cheers Donna

Is it then possible just to pull the patterned paper out of the newly made paper pad - rather than rip them?
!! hi Aimz94 !! yes exactly how it works, you only rip them if thats the look you want, like just rip off a piece from the end and leave the top part in the book for later 🦋 cheers Donna
Not for me, I try to avoid plastic as much as I can. I store all my papers on shoe boxes or wooden boxes.
!! hi OrangeTabbyCat !! I totally understand. Substitute any suggestions i have made with Paper tapes, paper bags, cardboard boxes. I use way more of these than plastic 🦋 cheers Donna
sometimes aldi has some pretty ones
!! hi Maureen !! some notepads or papers? 🦋 cheers Donna

I'm confused - the title of this video is about sorting and storing scraps but the video is about making a Mini book?!
Gday Shelly, let me explain..this is one way to keep all your little bits of scraps stored in a note pad style book for storage. I still use this method its easy to find and to go through and pick out what yo want to use thanks for tuning in and happy crafting 🦋 cheers Donna
So I guess you would just cut the piece you wanted to use?
Yes Tyna, its just to keep them tidy and in a handy place to flip through when you need to snip a bit off or use the whole little piece happy creating cheers 🦋 Donna
🤣🤣🤣
so glad you enjoyed it Louis (❁´◡`❁) 🦋 hugs Donna
