    The North is the Ableton Live looping project of guitarist Evert Zeevalkink and drummer Willem van der Krabben. We're both recording and controlling loops in a single Ableton Live set. I'm using the Keith McMillen 12 Step (hidden under the keys stand) to select and arm tracks and record clips into them and Willem is using both the Roland SDP-SX sampling pad and the M-Audio Oxygen 25.
    I'm uploading regularly, so subscribe if you like it.

    Love the way you combine guitar with synth. I am learning more about synths, even have the GAIA as well, along with Ableton. New challenges for this old struggling guitar player... Love your music, it would be great if you talked about your background, and did some tutorials... I would be willing to pay if you put up a patreon account for those...

    This was an absolute delight to listen to. Really inspiring! I've been looking into incorporating my guitar into my music production (played for many, many years), and this has helped me decide to go through with those plans.

    Great job gentlemen! I really enjoyed this listening to this song as well as the creation style. I'm beginning the journey into ableton. I've been playing drums for many years, both acoustic and electronic. I'm very excited to start customizing sounds, environments, etc. and building loops in a live environment. I've done some phrase looping with the Roland SPD-30 which is great, but the phrasing itself is fairly limiting on the Octapad and I'd like more flexibility with sounds.

    Hi guys, nice groove!! I've really enjoyed your mutual understanding while playing! A technical question: how can you loop with the Roland SPD-SX without MIDI functionalities?

    • @haralabospap7091
      @haralabospap7091 5 років тому

      Probably the same way as looping a guitar directly to Ableton. They send the audio signal to some audio interface and then to Ableton (I guess)

    you seem to really like the gaia... it sounds pretty good thru your pedal board. do you recommend it as a starter synth for creating cool patches like yours?

    • @Evertzeevalkink
      @Evertzeevalkink  9 років тому +3

      keepsake89 You need to know that the Gaia is only being used as a midi controller in this video. The actual sounds are coming out of Arturia's Prophet V vst synth. The Gaia is great for getting to know synthesis and it sounds ok, but nothing spectacular in my opinion. The what you see is what you get interface is really the reason I bought it.

    Thanks for such a detailed equipment list. Do you sync the spdx to Ableton or just use as a trigger for tracks or scenes in Ableton. Also do you separate the midi channels so you are using different ones for the drum triggers and the guitar. Finally have you used the software "midi guitar" from Jamorigin?
