Love Mike Mushok, I love this whole era of music, when bands like Mudvayne, Staind and SOAD were all just emerging and it was the style to look toally fucking mental and spaz out on stage. It's just a shame I was only 11 when this was going on, had I been a few years older I'd have been right there up front screaming along and going mental. Oh, and Aaron's vocals are fucking insane.
Yeah I love watching him...he gets so lost in the music, but rarely messes up. Sometimes I do wonder how he doesn't just tear his back right in half though haha...
old and new Staind are fantastic yeah the earlier stuff 'Tormented' & 'Dysfunction' are heavier than the last 2 albums but the band have gone full circle and have promised the new album will be as heavy as the first two
I wish I could like this video 100 times. This is my favorite song to sing on karaoke night. It really pisses off the people at the country bar but I don't care! :D
2:17 -2:20 mike muskok usually does that cuz he gets so wrapped up in the music and so focused that sometimes he doesn't even notice it. so don't make fun of it!
I think Mike plays a multiscale guitar... the frets are positioned like that. I wonder if it's G# C# G# C# etc. on the low strings like the other albums.
toomermcshockey actually mike use a lot of different tunings, but the main tunning for staind songs is G#C#G#C#F#A# is a drop c# tunning but with a low G# for heavy riffing
@staind420 I know that it's scalloped. But it's not possibly A, because Spleen is at least G# and they didn't change the pitch for the concert. I meant if he tuned his guitar lower than G# or not.
@staind420 If I say something it is true. If not I wouldn't have written it. /watch?v=kAiSOBjwPwY Just look at the screen around 3:35, there is G# everywhere. And yes, it's the lowest string! Don't feel dumb now, but how is he going to explain odd tunings like Open G# C# to guitar beginners who buy tab books in the first place?
@ImTread18 lol Aaron is known for that big time, I want to be the lead singer of a Rock Band & I would do that too but I got a little stage fright I got over it a couple years ago but it came back, But Aaron is awesome!
@JackCarver10 there is a video out there where mike talks about how he sits down and writes the tab books himself. He does say he makes some things easier to play for people though. He has talked about his tuning before. Never said G once. Sorry to burst ur G bubble lol
I agree, but I still feel I need to explain why he's most likely exhaling to put everyone else to rest. When he screams, he bends over forward. Have you ever tried inhaling and doing that? It's counter-intuitive, and kind of uncomfortable. He's most likely exhaling. Logic FTW.
@staind420 Lol, please... a tab book, you really rely on shit like that? Spleen on the album is definitely as low as G#. He COULD play an augmented fifth on the sixth fret (the two lowest strings A & E) if he uses the Drop A Tuning, but he doesn't tune his guitar that way in the song Spleen, that's my point.
Just as long as it's not that 13 Shades of Shit. haha I know bands progress but don't completely alienate a certain sound that you have had from Day 1. We'll never see the Tormented/Dysfunction days which makes me sad but at least keep some balls in your music.
I want a philosophical explanation as to why talented musicians turn into pussies when they become cellouts and quit taking daredevil substances that help them create brilliant freshman and sophomore albums
+Emiliano Dean Atran (L'haflack) who's the pussy?, not Aaron, he did his thing, made his mullah, had kids, and is doing what he has always set out to do, pussy-NO ..... A total success YES!
Daisy Douglas So that's the problem. He started a family with a woman, and that ended his need to play the music in Staind that was good and rough on the first two albums
No, he was married to Vanessa way before Staind, he gave 20 yrs. to heavy rip your face off music, he grew up country, he lived country, he was 25 and in the scene , he mastered rock with Staind, now that he has a teen, and 2 younger girl's, he is set, he was a country fan when he was 10 hanging with his gramps!, he did it, made his career....made a life and is doing now what he worked so hard with Staind to be fortunate to do, at 42 he doesn't want to fucking jump around saying the same shit he has said 10 times over, he is writing song's that are his present life experiences, experiences as a kid, and doing small gigs sipping whiskey, and doing intimate shows, that was and is his dream, old school makes knives, and does his thing Wysocki, and his girlfriend are in Memphis doing their thing [happily], Mike is slaying his style with his band, they are living their dream, so in order to be able to live that dream,he doesn't want the heavy like tormented,if you listen to his first album before staind J-CAT it's blues, that's where he lives, how he lives and what he loves, Sal covered this album, but he was also the drum tech for 20 yrs so he knew it all from all the yrs spent w the guy's.....now he want's to pursue happiness, and thats where they are at, if one day they decide to sign another contract ,great a reunion fucking awesome...but last time I talked with all, they were all happy, and it was not a future endeavor any time soon, he is much more laid back, and like he said he's fucking used every emotion, and said it all, he is not the dysfunctional, young guy with issues, he has found his own, with kids a wife, a home, and doing what he loves, they gave you 20 yrs and never said it was over, just enjoy what he has to offer, all the guy's, because they are phenomenal in their individual lives now....
Daisy Douglas Lol I'm not tryin to argue with a girl. I'm wondering why all artists who start out with surprisingly strong albums, like the first ones, all of a sudden die out and become calm as soon as they make good money. What I'm sayin is the more an artist struggles, the better their work is, and as soon as they settle comfortably the more their works sucks
Spy that look Aaron gives RIGHT before shit gets real. It's when you see that look that you know you're about be eviscerated with awesomeness

Yeah I love watching him...he gets so lost in the music, but rarely messes up. Sometimes I do wonder how he doesn't just tear his back right in half though haha...

the greatest of all.....bow down
old and new Staind are fantastic yeah the earlier stuff 'Tormented' & 'Dysfunction' are heavier than the last 2 albums but the band have gone full circle and have promised the new album will be as heavy as the first two

I wish I could like this video 100 times. This is my favorite song to sing on karaoke night. It really pisses off the people at the country bar but I don't care! :D
he is always really rockin ;)!!!
For anyone wondering his guitar isnt G#C#G#C#. Instead its basically drop G# with the f tuned to f# (G#D#G#C#F#A#)
2:17 -2:20 mike muskok usually does that cuz he gets so wrapped up in the music and so focused that sometimes he doesn't even notice it. so don't make fun of it!
theyre old stuff is the shit
I think Mike plays a multiscale guitar... the frets are positioned like that.
I wonder if it's G# C# G# C# etc. on the low strings like the other albums.
Damn Old School is even getting crazy on this one :o
love that :)
Country boy swag
this is real fuckin heavy man did Mike tune down to A or something?? excellent
toomermcshockey actually mike use a lot of different tunings, but the main tunning for staind songs is G#C#G#C#F#A# is a drop c# tunning but with a low G# for heavy riffing
The lead singer looks like Karl from Slingblade and the other guys looks like Karl's friends from the nervous hospital.
He Certainty cant breathe after that scream
In my opinion, his best scream was at 2:20
Anybody else notice Sal G (the new drummer) at 5:07?

what is the song at the very end of this awesome Band Staind =D
@staind420 I know that it's scalloped. But it's not possibly A, because Spleen is at least G# and they didn't change the pitch for the concert. I meant if he tuned his guitar lower than G# or not.
@JackCarver10 its scalloped frets. He plays a baritone usually in drop A.. or w/e...really low tuning.

/watch?v=kAiSOBjwPwY

Don't feel dumb now, but how is he going to explain odd tunings like Open G# C# to guitar beginners who buy tab books in the first place?
Why does it matter he put on a Damn good show he didn't hurt himself he's still alive so what's the big deal!!!!!!!!!!!
@ImTread18 lol Aaron is known for that big time, I want to be the lead singer of a Rock Band & I would do that too but I got a little stage fright I got over it a couple years ago but it came back, But Aaron is awesome!
Hes talented if he can inhale sing and talk at the same time...he is definitely exhaling
@JackCarver10 there is a video out there where mike talks about how he sits down and writes the tab books himself. He does say he makes some things easier to play for people though. He has talked about his tuning before. Never said G once. Sorry to burst ur G bubble lol
