Gotta say Cerbios in 2024 is definitely the custom bios to go with in 2024 as I use it for all my TSOP and ModChip builds and I'm happy that soft mod users can experience Cerbios in soft mod form! Great Video Mr.Mario!

I did this Cerbios install, next day I went to play halo on insignia and it forced me to update my dashboard now the bios is broke. Boots to OG Xbox dash. Had to re copy the hard drive

Should it theoretically be possible to create a 4TB HDD using xboxpartitioner with Cerbios bfm and locking HDD on PC? I used to upgrade HDD with larger HDDs back in the day before fancy tools like chimp were available. I remember had to boot from DOS utility to lock drive. I wonder if one could lock the HDD on a modchip Xbox using cloned eeprom HDD key from the softmod one ? I’m thinking standardize the key to all 11s in both the softmod and hardmod systems then can just create a drive in xbpartitioner in windows with large F and install softmod manually on c: using cervios bfm. Then lock the HDD using hardmod Xbox with standardized key. Place in softmod system and then should see large F partition.
wait, does this give you up to 16TB hard drive size, im limited on retail bios right now. this is mentioned in so few places mainly here i have looked around and i see no specific mention on if this bypasses the retail bios limitations of the rocky5 endpoint exploit?
I finished the softmod, but every time I boot the system it starts with the original green animation and then the cerbios animation. Is that normal? And is there a way to only have the cerbios animation?
hi,i did notice that i never had the option for unleashX and when i launch my CCI games i get booted back to unleash(which i have choosen as my default dashboard no) i have posted on reddit to see if anyone knows why the CCI boots back to default dashboard but still waiting for a definitive answer :-(

What happens if you select wrong kernel for the softmod, for sake of science that is? Will it brick or fail to work correctly so reinstall for correct kernel?
Can you use this to flash the tsop? I know you would still need to bridge points on the motherboard, just didn't know if this would work to flash it. Great video as always!

25 Years later, and the OG Xbox is still hot, and getting hotter :ø) I was wondering if anybody has any experience with Xenium/OpenXenium software and similar OS-Based Modchips like the SmartXX LT OPX - will the new OpenXenium stuff flash successfully onto the SmartXX?
I did the procedure without paying attention to the kernel, after the cerbios installation process, the xbox starts with the logo and then gets a black screen, is there any solution? thanks
I don't know why you did that when I harped on it multiple times in the video. Best course of action would be to use your EEPROM backup to unlock and hook up your HDD to your PC with FATXplorer, then install required files manually with either clean C and E drive files or a pre-packed version of something like the XBHDM Build of Rocky5's Xbox Softmodding Tool.
I used the kernel from the video lol, my jesus I did it in the heat of emotion, now my xbox starts the xbox logo then the screen goes black, when I click to open the folder the logo appears, but then it goes black, I will have to remove the HD and Can you put fatxplore on my used computer? @@MrMario2011

Can Cerbios update the Aladdin chips that have needed an external flasher? I have a few of them, and it would be nice if there was an update that allowed this (unless it was something physical on the box itself that was preventing it).
I found the disc images online, I have the cci, iso and xiso formats. I extracted the iso and xiso and the screen stay black. I actually have M8+ with PremethOS and Mhz HD+ installed. It's the only game that doesn't show. CCI doesn't work either.
Very good video! Differences between cerbios, unleash and endgame? With endgame can you put games on the hard drive? And with cerbios can you play online with a badge? Sorry but I'm very confused about all this😅

Doubt a DVD delete mod since this is still a retail BIOS which needs to boot at the beginning. You can still configure whichever dashboard you want, and IGR still works.
Hi anyone can help me, so i have bought the xbox to usb converter and have a 1 gb usb flash drive that formated fine on the xbox, after i got to the pc part i installed the windows desktop runtime software, and opened fatxplorer installed the driver restart pc, opened fatxplorer again mounted the drive copied over the cerbios soft mod folder to the drive, and then i unmounted the drive ejected it from pc and when i plug in to the xbox it shows on the memcard slot but i when i press A it shows me only to delete the savefile, no option to copy. I need to mention when i try to unmount the drive it tells me that the drive is still in use but im pretty sure it was not in use, so i clicked on unmount anywas. Hope someone have a idea why i cant copy it over. EDIT: I figured it out i just needed to press the right dpad button and then it give me the option to copy over the file
If you already have a rocky 5 softmodded machine, are there any benefits to using this method instead? I’ve never got a mod trip either because it seems like I can do all the same stuff already except for swapping the hard drive easily or removing the DVD drive, but I still have my DVD drive and I keep a back up of the hard drive, so I don’t see a reason for me to do the hard mod. But if there are benefits, I would love to know because I like to do this kind of stuff. It would make a great project but I don’t wanna break my machine if there’s no benefit in the end anyways. Lol

@95Comics Compressed Cerbios Image. It was designed specifically for Cerbios and is a lossless compression format. Same games, just smaller. Repackinator is used to compress redump style images to CCI.
If you haven't put a new hard drive in your soft modded Xbox you should definitely give it a try, I was able to pull it off and it wasn't too horrible. That drive is super old and prone to failure
Your fan speed is likely modified in the nkpatcher settings. When the light turns orange, the softmod loads and the settings take effect. I have my Nexus fan set to 70% and it does the same.
Nice,does any body know if this will work if I have evo8 flashed as bios? And as I have done multiple swaps on my HDD I don't have the old Microsoft dashboard anymore so is there any way I can find the kernel on the other dashboards
@@MrMario2011 Definitely only done a softmod using rocky 5.but i did flash the Evo8 bios using hexen.i have swapped out the Hdd so many times now I also don't have the original stock Microsoft dashboard but I can see a Kernel version on unleash dashboard so can I use that?

@@MrMario2011 Well I meant the softmod and unlocking of the system would be done with a new sata hard drive on a Xbox that had had never been modded before... As in the soft mod and unlocking payloads are included in the new hard drive.....
I know 8TB for sure, with 16TB in the future, if not already. Something to do with a Titan patch? Cerbios also removes the file limitation of filenames being too long, Tony Hawk, etc. I saw dual hdd support, not sure what that entails. If 16TB is the max, does that support dual 16TB, or dual 8TB? That means you need a dvd delete, which I'm not sure softmods support. Guess we'll see. I got my Orville Redenbacher ready, full stick of butter.
@SeanPennII I've been keeping an eye on prices the past year. They've gotten pretty high. I used to could get one in rough shape for no more than $40. Just a working unit that needs cleaned, I've seen go for over $100.

If I am already Rocky5 softmodded, this will still work?
I'd really only recommend starting clean, so uninstalling another Softmod and then going with this if you wish to.

Only if you can manage to lock a 16 TB HDD, which is doubtful unfortunately.

Yep, you're booting up retail BIOS then booting a custom BIOS. Only way to only have the Cerbios animation is with a hardmod/TSOP flash.
If this is a pathway to a good way to back up my Xbox games and then run them off a large HDD, count me in!

Correct, it would keep trying to load in a BIOS for the wrong kernel, so a HDD rebuild would be needed.

We'll just have to see, with stuff like PrometheOS out there the sky seems to be the limit. That's now working on chips like the XBlast chips

It's an issue on the physical console that prevents it, although I've seen your mileage may vary between consoles!
How do i get Def Jam Fight for NY to work on Cerbios, I just get a black screen!! Its the main game I want to play
What format is the game in? Extracted, iso, xiso, cci? Did you rip the game from a disc, or find an image somewhere? You running Cerbios BFM?

Cerbios is a custom BIOS, UnleashX is a custom dashboard, ENDGAME is an entry point.

That's why I didn't make any videos covering the Rocky5 variant until it was officially updated. Thankfully that now has been updated.

CCI and larger drive support, if you aren't interested in either then there's no need.

This should not be followed for a hardmod.

I can't wait till we can just mod a SATA hard drive and then adapt it for the Xbox and Boots straight into a soft mod.
I mean, that's possible now? Dump the EEPROM of a console and build a drive for it on PC, then lock it.
Or of course just use a custom BIOS.
@@MrMario2011 Well I meant the softmod and unlocking of the system would be done with a new sata hard drive on a Xbox that had had never been modded before... As in the soft mod and unlocking payloads are included in the new hard drive.....

I know 8TB for sure, with 16TB in the future, if not already. Something to do with a Titan patch? Cerbios also removes the file limitation of filenames being too long, Tony Hawk, etc.
I saw dual hdd support, not sure what that entails. If 16TB is the max, does that support dual 16TB, or dual 8TB? That means you need a dvd delete, which I'm not sure softmods support.

You can use large hard drives, the challenge will be finding one that locks

@SeanPennII I've been keeping an eye on prices the past year. They've gotten pretty high. I used to could get one in rough shape for no more than $40. Just a working unit that needs cleaned, I've seen go for over $100.

Once I softmod using this method this I’d like to upgrade to a 16TB. Do I need a drive that supports locking or can I buy a regular drive??
Softmod always requires a locked drive.
