11:54 I installed the wrong kernel version, and my XBox was only able to play XBox games. Else my XBox freezes at boot and I couldn't access the the dashboard. So I softbricked my XBox. I was able to connect to my XBox with Fillezilla. The problem came from the "xbox info.txt"; the kernel version was wrong. I edited the file, and I copied the file back to my system. My XBox is able to boot again.

So if I understand it correctly you should update the dashboard to 5960 prior to installing cerbios BFM if you plan on using insignia? What is the order of operations if upgrading to a larger HDD? Install this first on the original drive and then clone to the larger drive or install larger drive and then install cerbios?

Def emphasis on check your ms dash kernel! It will softbrick you if not! You can recover using a pico to grab the eeprom and an old PC that has IDE support but it's a hell of a process lol. Also tsop flash is your best bet, go for it if you can as first option.
Absolutely. I believe I saw you post on the original thread? Custom Dashboards and applications might not report the correct Kernel, so the best option is to use the tried and true MS Dash.
Question, even with "No DVD" selected I still get error 12 when booting without it.. am I missing something? Or does this feature only apply to hardmodded consoles
Thia ia great as i have bought like 6 memory cards and splitter cells as losing them. I wanted to max out an og xbox again . Impressive i can still do the hard drive swap without buying a game now. Love this as emulator machine
I used his guide, but instead of preloading C and E in FatX, I made backups of my C and E after I installed Cerbios BFM. Once I formatted the hdd to Cerbios using FatX, I simply moved over my backups and it worked. I tested UDMA 5, and it indeed works on a BFM.
@@MrMario2011 I was wondering if there was a solution to inject a tiny OS, so one could get more out of the limitations given by the RAM conditions. I guess nobody would make something like this.
@@FeelTheVoid had the same problem think the sata adapter was shorting on the hard drive used insulation tape along the hdd and the back of the sata adapter especially the back of the power conector the 4 pins.
So I installed xbox dashboard, how do I load insignia now? Do I do the usb softmod trick while in the original dashboard? This means I would also need to load halo 2 from disc and I can't boot it from the hard drive?
@@MrMario2011 ya I have but that tutorial doesn't mention this mod. I worry here because there is a warning here and I'm not sure how to launch insignia safely using this mod. I did install the dash like you recommended. Just not sure what to do exactly to not break the mod but also play insignia
@@MrMario2011 okay for example. I done all of this, now when I launch halo 2, it says can't reach xbox live. OKay so I launch xbox dashboard and it says my DNS is the default, so I change it and then it connects to insignia. But once I exit xbox dash to load the custom dash to load h2, it says, it can't connect to xbox live, I then run the troubleshooter, and once again, the dns is set to automatic. So I can't seem to get the DNS to stick.
I actually reset my 3TB to factory last night and tried this, and can finally use it all. 2.72TB free after the install. I'm installing the full 1044 CCI set now, am curios how much space will be left for emulator packs and homebrew, or if 4TB is better suited.
@@CAsh4kiDZ After installing all my emulator packs, homebrew and the 1058 CCI set, I had 100GB free on F. I plan on making a 4TB build with everything, including every Kiosk and OXM Demo discs.
A modern sata hdd/ssd should have no issue locking, it's gonna be the sata adapter where you'll encounter issues. The Startech is recommended. I put an old 60GB OCZ Agility II in one of mine a few weeks ago and worked fine. Seek times are a noticeable improvement, feels very responsive now.

@@MrMario2011 I already have an xbox v1.1 with tsop cerbios 1MB, I'm currently sending over ftp ISO's like conker (4.5GB) The Suffering ties thar bond (4.53GB) MC dub Remix (4.5Gb) no problems so far but with this softmodded v1.6b cerbios and xbmc4gmaers last build it will always tranfer only 4.gb in total, even if I touch te option "AutofatX limiter" to off It's weird , tsoped xbox v1.1 let me transfer files over 4GB while the softmodded v1.6b wont.
@@MrMario2011already tought of that, but I wanted to connect my Xbox to my CRT and the one i have currently only has Scart and composite, but now that i think about that maybe it isn't a bad idea after all to connect it to my normal tv via a hdmi adapter like you suggested
Wish I'd known this before I went through the video and installed it. Got a blank screen on my CRT now. If I replace the new 21585554 folder with the old one, will it revert my Xbox back to the old softmod?

Why wait? He already updated 1.2.1 to support ENDGAME, I doubt he would integrate something like this as he likes to have things pretty standardized.

Only if it's locked and the HDD key matches your console.
How do you people have Xboxs that go over 40Derpgrease, I can't get mine to go over that with hours of constant play With the 70 mm fan mod.

Correct, you cannot make use of that on a softmodded console.

Nope, those are intended for custom BIOS

If you have 1080i enabled, disabling it would help. 720p looks just fine and 1080i makes the xbox feel sluggish.

Could be your fan speed. You'd need to modify your Cerbios.ini file on your C partition. Just need Notepad/Notepad++. It's very easy.
@@bomb447 the unleash dashboard has a weird configuration when i put the fan speed in 1x the fan goes to 5x ,. lets see if with the ini i can fix this

I believe that won't change since that would be a limitation of the FATX format? To my recollection, ISO files over 4GB are split.

RIP, but why not use Component or one of the many HDMI adapters out there? You can go with those once you unlock HD resolutions on a PAL console.
