The Maw - Music & Ambience | World of Warcraft Shadowlands

- The Maw is one of the realms of the Shadowlands. This horrific place houses the most vile and irredeemable souls in existence. Ruled by the enigmatic Jailer, the Maw inspires nightmares and legends even among the denizens of the Shadowlands. No one has ever escaped this vile place, and any foolish enough to venture here are never heard from again. At its center lies Torghast, a cursed otherworldly prison where the most wicked souls in the universe are locked away.
Around the time of the Burning Legion's third invasion of Azeroth, the machine of death was broken, causing all souls who enter the Shadowlands to pour directly into the Maw. As a result, the Maw grows larger and more powerful while other parts of the Shadowlands have become deprived of anima and have started withering.
Sylvanas Windrunner has been working with the Jailer since her attempted suicide at Icecrown Citadel and has been perpetrating acts to bring about great amounts of death in the world of the living. As she has fed the Maw with new souls, both she and the Jailer have grown more powerful.
Thanks to their intimate connection to Azeroth's world-soul, adventurers will be able to escape the Maw and further explore the Shadowlands, though some of their allies will be left behind.
The Maw is a max-level zone designed for exploration and open-ended play, without settlements or inns to let players catch their breath.

Man, I had not seen this place. This is epic, it truly is what it came to mind after watching that cinematic of Sylvannas and the Lich King when they announced Shadowlands.
thank you Meisio. I cant imagine how much effort and how difficult it must has been to make this video. I dont think anyone else will bother to do an ambient video of the Maw.
I find the Maw fascinating. It's like Mordor on steroids. There's a tabletop game called Wraith: The Oblivion, about damned souls stuck in a godless afterlife also called the shadowlands, and i swear, the Maw is exactly how i envisioned Wraith to look like, so im very happy to finally have a visual idea of that.

Thank you, this video was like every other video with one exception: filming of the Beastwarrens. That's a zone in which you die after staying 1 minute (that's if you manage to escape the mobs in it). I've died like 20-30 times there in 2 days (for 15 minutes of footage). We will be able to advance thorough the story and manage to survive in the Beastwarrens, but I did it without 'help', with the help of my feral druid. :)

Before, I thought Argus was the most screwed up place we went, having been a smouldering ruin for millennia. The Maw is so much worse. It truly looks like lowest, most vile pit in all creation.

Ohhh man I SO appreciate some of these backgrounds like with Anduin/Thrall/Jaina; still moving but still like a frozen moment in time. Such a genius use of the game!

They had an amazing opportunity with Shadowlands and they completely missed the mark.
In the end, for an expansion about Death, they really kind of made it a joyful/playful type of place. Wrath of the Lich King and Northrend really put this expansion to shame in terms creating a type of horror experience within World of Warcraft. The Maw itself was alright though, I think the rest of the expansion should have been more like that. Even at the cost of being repetitive and monotone. I get why they wanted to diversify the landscapes and themes with bastion and ardenwield and everything, but it just didn't fit with the idea of the realm of death itself.
The whole expansion should have been more foreboding, eerie, and horrowing.

I hate this place because it's just another farming place you're basically forced to go in and with the jailer's eye you can't even do everything in one day...so I haven't taken the time to focus on the music. But gosh, this is incredible, as always. I may prefer this one than Revendreth, my favorite zone so far. Hmm.
I admit, pretty annoying. Just a method from Blizzard to make you log in another day too :)

but are there like playlist of the characters journeys? I've tried following the Tauren shamans journey from mulgore lvling videos. Found some older tauren shaman Un'goro/tanaris/ashenvale stuff . I know they are not the same shaman but i just pretend they are and watch them in leveling order.
I'm not demanding you need to do stuff ofc you do what you like. Just thought do you level the characters more than just one zone? would love followng characters growing progress. Tauren shaman and Night elf hunter are my favorite ones that i watch in leveling order atm :).

Open the CC/Subtitles for all title tracks in my movies. That one in particular is called Shadow Sylvanas Free Will H (H comes from Hero, like the most representative track in the track list "Shadow Sylvanas Free Will").

@@Meisio Thank you! I never knew that subtitles would tell me the tracks, that's a quirky thing to do, that way it merges info with the UA-cam application for timestamps, never thought of that
Why didn't you include any of the music that was specifically made for the Maw? From Grant Kirkhope, there was like 27 minutes of it. Don't these themes just play during the intro Maw questing and not in the actual endgame Maw? I heard none of this music in the endgame Maw.
You mean The Maw Ambient Tracks (38:40) ? Have you heard them? I consider them pretty insignificant unfortunately :(
Hope Abandoned (14:40)? That one is pretty disappointing too. But it's also included.
@@Meisio I just looked at the desc and didn't see them included there and i was skipping around and didn't hear them. But yeahhh they were kinda disappointing, the Hope Abandoned part atleast, i kinda actually like the ambient ones. But yeah, those were the only themes i heard when in the endgame Maw.

@@Meisio Yeah, i dont really understand what they were thinking with those loud horns in the Hope Abandoned tracks, they were pretty bad and don't really fit in the zone.
@@slinttu1378 It shows that they did not really planned anything for the Maw. Like it is even in the game. Unfinished. A zone in which you enter from time to time and will be hated by everyone.
P.S.: This is the reason I've kept this zone last, I was hoping for more music. I still am, not "hope abandoned" :)

Despite how shitty that expansion was, the art department really did capture what hell would probably look and sound like.
