- Korthia, City of Secrets is an ancient realm of the Shadowlands that was long lost in the In-Between before being dragged into the Maw by the chains of the Jailer. Similar to Oribos, Korthia is inhabited by attendants but also its own strange creatures, and the area contains many mysteries and secrets of the First Ones. The Jailer is searching for these secrets in the hopes of finding the key to fulfill his twisted vision for the Shadowlands. Korthia was hidden away in the In-Between to hide things that the races of the Shadowlands didn't want people like the Jailer to find.
Korthia was controlled by the Fatescribe Roh-Kalo and an Archivist who kept track of the records. The Archivist, currently Archivist Roh-Suir, wields a Lodestaff capable of locating any artifact, usually powered by the Netherstar. Korthia's being stolen by the Jailer has torn the very fabric of the Shadowlands. Before the Primus was taken by the Jailer, he had entrusted his sigil to Korthia.

Even though the most of the music is composed by Glenn Stafford, I notice great influences from Derek Duke. The music has become ambiental (for The Maw and this zone), but it's not a bad thing. It reminds me of the older style (before Legion) kind of tracks. Too bad that the gameplay is not mesmerizing like it used to be - because it would've made a great combination.
I hope you'll enjoy. The zone is not the greatest, the grind is one of the worse in my opinion, but still, it's World of Warcraft. And as long as it exists, I'll try to make videos about it.

Ahh yes - I was picking up the ambience influence as well. Playing TBC Classic with music on made me realize we have some very similar themes. But there's also newer ideas.. I really dig some of the dull, bleak synth drone tones. Reminds me of another game, Hyper Light Drifter (Which is also referenced in some of the mob abilities)
Thx you so much Meisio for doing this, its truly amazing seriously. All this zones, all this musics, your channel its incredible. Thx, never stop doing this pls! :)
Thank you Meisio. I do not even play WoW anymore but really do love your music uploads and gameplay content.
Did someone say l[Derek Duke]?
Well thank you for keeping them comming! I quit playing a long time ago and now I only visit this world through your work and for that you have my thanks :)
The Blizzard audio team is like the tank that’s outdpsing everyone
There's something very melancholy about this zone and the music adds to it, I think. I mean, maybe as a quest hub it's not the greatest, but the idea of an ancient city of secrets that has long since gone into ruin and is slowly being disintegrated by time and devourers is kind of sad and I feel like the music fits that.
Absolutely my feelings, too
The soundtrack is my favorite part of Korthia. I love this area of the game and the music makes it just that much better for me
You are between few who like Korthia. Or you might like it aesthetically :)
I salute you!
@@Meisio whats there not to like about korthia?
Love it too
There is one thing, what touch me in music of this type of locations (Argus, Korthia). You just walk and think - how much stories hiden in this location. How much suffer and pain. All this voices tell the story. So many untold stories. So many lives, from which you can learn. So many souls, which don't want to be forgotten (like caddavers in Maldraxxus, which tell "Remember me" before you kill them. And you want to help them, but can't. All what you can to do - is trying hear something in music or in other things.
Agree, some of the best since Legion.
Possibly a come back to that style. But we cannot know it for sure until we see the next expansion.
Some things are appreciated when they are lost...
I suddenly realized the main theme's structure is very similar to Bruckner symphony no.7 2nd movement. Good music.
While Korthia it's not as 'grand' as i hoped to be, (and on that note, i didnt expect for Tazavesh to look that magnificent), i do like how Korthia feels less dramatic and oppresive than the Maw, giving breathing room to the zone as a whole. The music is less bombastic and more environmental, like older WoW zones, so it feels relaxing in a way, and even though is technically a withered forest, the mere fact that it has plants and proper wild life does make it stand out from the rest of the Maw. So far, i cautiously like it.
Thanks for the work, Meisio.!
*cautiously*
@@japacitator note taken, thanks!
after playing in it, I can say that, while I like the more relaxed gameplay of Korthia and the many mounts and toys you can get from its treasures, The Archivist's Codex reputation related to the zone has to be one of the worst rep grinds ever implemented in the game, Jesus Christ. I gave a 6/10 to Korthia as a whole.
Korthia 3B 7:25 is the most powerful moment from the whole Chains of Domination soundtrack. It's a serene lament over this horrendous devastation in once beautiful and organized Korthia. It's so beautiful and emotional that it is almost painful to listen. The work of the composers is incredible. Good job.
Whatever the problems that may exist with Blizzard and their games, they do seem to do well with atmosphere and audio. Korthia isn't my favorite place (very grind-heavy, actually, to where I dreaded the dailies), but they managed to capture the feeling of a lost world, and for the explorer in me, that's one pf my favorite things.😊
I don't know why the fuck people hate shadowlands so much, everything is just perfectly fine
Yeah people will look back and realize how incredible this body of work was. Esthetically, musically, and if you can look past a few things even the story is intriguing. It's a combination of tribalism and people being so icked by the story they are blind to the beauty before them
I much prefer the ambient musical style, reflecting the mood of the zone instead of trying to dictate it. This is good stuff and first time I'm hearing it (not currently playing in 9.1). Thanks for the great work Meisio and to all of the composers of WoW who consistently knock it out of the park.
korthia 1C 44:40, best one in korthia by far. I just stand near Primus and wait till this track plays in the main hub. So good man
By far too? Its good bit lasts like 2 seconds...
I kinda prefer the next ones, 1D and 2A 2B, but not that their main good parts last more than 2 sec too, lol.
Nothing exceptional here. But the Derek Duke's parts (3D & 3G... no 5G here, to avoid the conspiracy theories!) had me mesmerized/immersed for the longest, I swear this guy has a trick and it works on me 90% of the time. No redundant instruments, just subtle melancholy - not so subtle here tho, hehe.
Also, isn't Primus a band? Hmm.
I haven't played since mop. Not by choice. I moved to a no internet zone for many years. I love your videos. I listen to them while working in the wood shop. This zone is beautiful! The music is just as beautiful as the scenery. Thank you for doing what you do so I can still enjoy my favorite world.
Noo man how come there has to be a way that u can play?
@@alexanderbaeck5703 I wish. I can barely watch yt. I get my fix from the music. But it's not nearly enough.
No internet zone? How did you survive? I know I could not haha
Great zone
Severely, incredibly underappreciated.
I'm loving Korthia!
53:20 this has to be my favourite, when I was in this zone this was the one that got stuck in my head.
Something about the rhythm in these tracks is reminiscent of the WoD soundtracks at times to me.
I am very happy you made this, thank you Meisio
bring the leveling streams back. miss those
Nice work Meisio :)
Thank you Sire :)
good job Mei
I'd give a lot for Korthia not to have The Maw's skybox.
Do you like this music? of Korthia do!
Meisio how do manage to zoom out so far in your videos?
People are only complaining about WoW...But no one is seeing good parts. This music is really awesome. Also I personally love art style in WoW. I just can't get into FF14 because of that. Their zones feel pretty empty and bland :( Music is great too tho
Hey, you know who did this?
Hey :)
I am afraid you got me confused a little. Who did what? :)
Yep, depressing.
В игре не смогла понять что за музыка звучит, хоть здесь послушаю.
The worst zone and the most depressing music. - Asmongold
Warcraft music used to have Melody and you can actually hear instruments now it just sounds like somebody's grading on a chalkboard for an hour
Go listen to TBC zone music mate. It's all ambient, atmospheric, trying to immerse you in the zone, there's no melodies, except Nagrand. It's good to have ambient music once in a while.
@@slinttu1378 vanila music was produced by Jason Hayes. Nothing can touch it. TBC is a close second. Some ROTLK is great. Loved MOP and WOD aseell. The rest is just scraping to me.
@@basedcommodore Legion and bfa have some of the most lovely instruments/melody with the whole total war/seafaring themes imo
@@basedcommodore Thats the most stupid thing ever. EVERY single expansion has good music. I can give you tons of examples.
Rose colored glasses @@basedcommodore
they all sound the same....
Very weak expansion adn Korthia is just like a vinaigrette
Can you please elaborate on how Korthia is just like a vinaigrette?
