I am a self taught mechanic of over 30 years in the field. Helping people save money and stay safe on the road is what I am here for. If I can pass that along in my videos, that would make me feel even more accomplished. I noticed you didn't put any sealant or gasket on the lower block assy. I have one and that is where the leak is coming from. Is this simple metal to metal? I thought I saw gasket material when you disassembled it? Thanks for making these they are a great help!

I actually do use Grey permatex gasket maker. I put a thin layer on before starting to record. If you watch after I torque it down, I do mention to check that it made a proper seal.

If you watch too while I'm putting the bolts in, when it mates up, you'll see a little ooze out.

Can this be done with the engine in the car? I have what appears to be a small leak coming from between the block and this upper section which goes in between the oil pan and block.

Im not really sure on that due to the amount of stuff that needs to be cleared out. If it was possible, you definately wouldnt be able to do a very thorough job with laying silicone gasket maker in a lot of spots.
I would highly recommend removing the engine. This job took me 2 and a half days. I did it over christmas.

Those are good engine but they tend to have a problem with leaks...

This one should be good to go for quite awhile. He stopped in about 2 weeks or so ago before moving out of state. It's doing great 👍🏻

@@MegaMilesBen great work on that engine though, making sure you stick to the manufacturer bolt patterns and specs, rarely any mechanics now does that most of them mechanics just tight it until it feels tight.

I'm kind of anal about torque lol. Too tight, they break. Too loose, they can back out. Too many years of fixing bolts. Not an enjoyable task. Every car I work on, I keep in mind, I'll probably be the next to work on it again. I'd rather not deal with too much crap 😆
